You keep on saying Mount Ararat is a volcano. What volcano?
Ararat hasn't been a volcano for many milenia..

Hi Whitefeather. Ararat is an inactive dormant volcano, but it is still a volcano. It's most recent eruption was 1840.

@@rtb2444 Yep, that's almost 200 years ago yawl..
All mountains are/were volcanoes however, only the active one are referred to as "volcanoes"

@@whitefeather29 No, the vast majority of mountains are created through the movement of tectonic plates (Alps, Himalayas, Andes etc.). Only very few are created through volcanic activity (Kilimanjaro, Ararat, Orizaba). Whether they are dormant or active, they are still called volcanoes. Just look up Ararat on wikipedia, in the first sentence it mentions it is a "snow-capped and dormant compound volcano". 200 years being dormant is really not that long in geological history and is definitely not millennia, as you wrote.

@@rtb2444 Wikipedia is a third rate source of information subject to editing and is not a reliable source of information whatsoever. There is now a revision of your belief that "most mountains" were created through the movement of tectonic plates as you erroneously put it. In fact most mountains are created by volcanic acttivity!
