When my 2 were younger than had a couple fights like this and it's scary but they do learn who the boss is [my hubby) and now when it's looking like a big fight is starting all he needs to do is yell and they separate. I know this is old but I wanted to impart some advice for breaking up dog fights. Options: 1. If a hose is in reach just spray them down. Very effective. 2. If there are 2 people available have each person pick up the hind legs of each dog (like the wheelbarrow game we played as kids). They will immediately focus on balancing and stop fighting. Then drag them apart. 3. Devices like Pepper spray or cattle prod. It sounds cruel but it's less cruel than all the injuries that can happen very quickly. (I'm a crazy dog lady and have fostered many dogs and dealt with dog fights. Both my husband and I have been bit. It is VERY DANGEROUS to get involved in a dog fight the wrong way. I've also a pet sitter for the last 10 yrs and take safety courses.) I hope this helps someone💞!

Having owned 2 male boxers, these fights will always happen. They were related, the puppy was a brindle just like Sammy, the adult was a red just like Rex, (part of the reason I love watching your channel) when the brindle reached maturity they fought (however, the red always started it & usually lost, sometimes ears were torn in half, not joking). They would only fight if one of us "humans" walked into the room whilst being away from them for any period of time, they would make eye contact with each other and go hell for leather, if we couldn't break them up we walked away until they stopped to lick each others wounds. If this is similar to your situation can I suggest you change the way you greet them both on returning home.... Maybe ignore them both for 15 minutes (as difficult as that sounds), let them play in the garden maybe (without you), then let them come to you, although the Rex/Sammie situation doesn't seem to be as extreme as ours it certainly brings back memories. PS: both of our boxers were neutered but it made no difference, the vet advised US to change OUR behaviour when greeting them. I hope this helps. 🐶🐶

So glad to hear no one got hurt. Fighting dogs make me very nervous and it is hard to get them apart. I know they can sound worse that the bruises they get from the fighting, but I don't like it either. You are a good dad!
Well I'm going to go play with MY toys :) Might I recommend carrying a Super Soaker? Those things pack a heck of a relative punch, for a water gun. Blast 'em in the nose with that and I bet it'd stop things pretty quick, and easier to keep handy than a hose.
It happens, we live in a imperfect world, we and our furry friends also miss that mark. There is a time for everything good and sadly not so good, but it's amazing how we always able to ride the storms. You have to establish yourself as the alpha male you the owner. I went through this. And once they realized the chain of command, they quit. I'm so sorry you had to get between that. I've had to do that before. It broke my heart. But as they both got older they just loved each other. My best to both boxer Rex and Sammy
Was just thinking through some of the things I learned from an animal, behaviorist / trainer, I worked with. She advised me never to leave the dogs together when they are home alone. Always separate when you have two or more high energy, powerful dogs. Better safe than sorry.

Sounds like they've given you and your wife a good run there. You did a fantastic job with the fences. We call those on the porch, trellis, here in the US. We use them for clematis, morning glory, and roses to climb on. Nice job.

I get a sense that poor Sammie gets most of the bad blame bc he wasn't there 1st. He is much younger age to Rex and it will take time for Sammie to mature and catch up to Rex but he is to be blamed for most of the mishaps after all its part of being a younger male.

I love watching your videos. Rex and Sammie are beautiful. We have had 6 Boxers over the years, they are a wonderful breed. We adopted one at a year old, he came to us with really bad behavioural problems. Would attack our other dog randomly for no reason. We joined the " Outback Dog Training" page on FB. They have tons of files on all sorts on training. You may want to try Calm and Impulse training, for both dogs. train them separately. It has done absolute wonders for our dogs behavior and they love to learn. Looking forward to your next video. Have a great weekend.
When you have two dominant dogs, you often have to establish a hierarchy so that each dog knows who belongs where because you, as the alpha, established it. Establishing that Rex gets food first and gets toys first, may be better than letting them figure out amongst themselves who is over who.
I'm sorry they had another fight. Possessiveness over toys seems to be the main issue with those two. If they're being possessive with a toy and growling and you should take the toy tell the growling dog my toy and remove it. Maybe you should leave their collars on so that if they do get into a disagreement it's easier to separate them. I see you reaching your hand in between then which could lead to you getting bit so I would leave their collars on when they're out playing and you could have simply reached out and grab the collar and pull them back. There's also a technique where if they have a lock on each other where you pull the dog up and twist the collar which will make the dog release the other dog. The fence and trellis look very nice. I'm having that issue with my male pup barking at everything he's getting better but it's an everlasting battle with him.
Be careful Peter, don't want you getting hurt while in between boys. I really think the previous suggestion from somebody who said use the " Super Soaker" is a great idea. It's like an over sized water gun, and it would not hurt the boys but just surprise them and take them out of the fight, its so worth trying. At least check them out at a toy store and see what you think🚿🐾🐾
Our two boxers one 9 the other 1 play roughly but I have a fear they will fight. So far the older one puts the younger in his place but I'm hopeful it will stay this way. You are great with your babies😁
I used to keep collars on my dogs when I as around so I could get in and pull them apart . Its to see who the boss .like someone said already. dogs and bitches both fight but the worst is 2 bitches they won't give up . But watch with collars in case they get stuck on fences take off when your not there
My 2 males fight occasionally. My pit bull almost 6 is older and rarely aggressive. My boxer male almost 2 usually starts the fight. It happens but most of the time they get along. My female boxer pit mix she keeps the boys in line. Lol Hope Sammy gets better soon. Have a good night!
Sorry about the fight, I know they can be very upsetting. Be very careful of getting into the middle of the physical fight. My friend has 2 dogs that fight and she carries a squirt container. Also sprays with hose. She claims that it works. Just don’t want you to be hurt. That Sammie is to cute, as you would say “ The Little Gangster”

It looked intense in the video, you breaking the fight up, Peter. Sammie jumping on guest is just excitement. They are still working out who is boss. Sammie is testing the water. Rex is resisting. Normal dog behaviour. The work you have done on the house is very good. Sammie must be feeling really good so his heart is holding up very well. You are doing the right thing with the lead then you can praise the good things and control the bad with minimum force. Ha, Sammie jumping people! My older Boxer was just good about not jumping at 3 years old. Then his little puppy brother came into our lives and and 3 years later Both are still jumping!!! One gets the other excited!!! Life with Boxers !

I get a sense that poor Sammie gets most of the bad blame bc he wasn't there 1st. He is much younger age to Rex and it will take time for Sammie to mature and catch up to Rex but he is to be blamed for most of the mishaps after all its part of being a younger male.

Glad neither of the dogs got hurt. My male dogs fight and draw blood all the time and have to be separated. Sammie is a rascal while Rex is a good mellow dog

I love watching your videos. Rex and Sammie are beautiful. We have had 6 Boxers over the years, they are a wonderful breed. We adopted one at a year old, he came to us with really bad behavioural problems. Would attack our other dog randomly for no reason. We joined the " Outback Dog Training" page on FB. They have tons of files on all sorts on training. You may want to try Calm and Impulse training, for both dogs. train them separately. It has done absolute wonders for our dogs behavior and they love to learn. Looking forward to your next video. Have a great weekend.

When you have two dominant dogs, you often have to establish a hierarchy so that each dog knows who belongs where because you, as the alpha, established it. Establishing that Rex gets food first and gets toys first, may be better than letting them figure out amongst themselves who is over who.

I'm sorry they had another fight. Possessiveness over toys seems to be the main issue with those two. If they're being possessive with a toy and growling and you should take the toy tell the growling dog my toy and remove it. Maybe you should leave their collars on so that if they do get into a disagreement it's easier to separate them. I see you reaching your hand in between then which could lead to you getting bit so I would leave their collars on when they're out playing and you could have simply reached out and grab the collar and pull them back. There's also a technique where if they have a lock on each other where you pull the dog up and twist the collar which will make the dog release the other dog. The fence and trellis look very nice. I'm having that issue with my male pup barking at everything he's getting better but it's an everlasting battle with him.

Be careful Peter, don't want you getting hurt while in between boys. I really think the previous suggestion from somebody who said use the " Super Soaker" is a great idea. It's like an over sized water gun, and it would not hurt the boys but just surprise them and take them out of the fight, its so worth trying. At least check them out at a toy store and see what you think🚿🐾🐾

Our two boxers one 9 the other 1 play roughly but I have a fear they will fight. So far the older one puts the younger in his place but I'm hopeful it will stay this way. You are great with your babies😁

I used to keep collars on my dogs when I as around so I could get in and pull them apart . Its to see who the boss .like someone said already. dogs and bitches both fight but the worst is 2 bitches they won't give up . But watch with collars in case they get stuck on fences take off when your not there

My 2 males fight occasionally. My pit bull almost 6 is older and rarely aggressive. My boxer male almost 2 usually starts the fight. It happens but most of the time they get along. My female boxer pit mix she keeps the boys in line. Lol Hope Sammy gets better soon. Have a good night!

Sorry about the fight, I know they can be very upsetting. Be very careful of getting into the middle of the physical fight. My friend has 2 dogs that fight and she carries a squirt container. Also sprays with hose. She claims that it works. Just don’t want you to be hurt. That Sammie is to cute, as you would say “ The Little Gangster”

They are still working out who is boss. Sammie is testing the water. Rex is resisting. Normal dog behaviour. The work you have done on the house is very good. Sammie must be feeling really good so his heart is holding up very well. You are doing the right thing with the lead then you can praise the good things and control the bad with minimum force. Ha, Sammie jumping people! My older Boxer was just good about not jumping at 3 years old. Then his little puppy brother came into our lives and and 3 years later Both are still jumping!!! One gets the other excited!!! Life with Boxers !
