"You guys are like Fleetwood Mac. You guys break up, you get back together and make a GREAT album, like: 'The Best of Fleetwood Mac'" joke kills me every time lol
One of the first lessons Barry taught his best Chechen student was to never hesitate, because hesitating even for a second would be the difference between living and dying. And that's exactly what happened at the end: he hesitated because he saw Barry and dropped his guard.
And it’s also to reiterate to the audience that Barry isn’t a good guy, that his anger consumes him and he’ll always be a monster, despite his desire to change.
It's true that hesitating can be the difference between living and dying, like we see here, but such situations are damned if you do damned if you don't situations.
@@Russelshackleford Barry even said himself he doesn't like who he is when he's angry. He doesn't want to be a killer, but it's his nature to go to that place when he loses control.
Honestly, watching Barry, Succession, and Breaking Bad all at the same time is absolutely wild. How on earth can you guys process all this greatness at the same time?
Remember the episode when Barry was training the Chechens. He specifically told that guy, "You hesitate for one second and you're dead! The only thing on your mind should be KILL!" Well, he hesitated and Barry iced him.
i think one of the writers/bill said this or maybe it's heavy fan speculation but the consensus is that after sally slaps barry and he basically snaps in that moment if she didn't change the script and he want and choked her, he probably would have killed her from rage. sally saves her own life there.
Your solo videos are great but I really enjoy watching the two of you together. You have different insights and fun interactions. Also the bitey thing from your most recent succession video was hilarious. Please keep these duo videos coming as much as possible. They’re a lot of fun
Would like to point out that the 1st season used Macbeth as the allegory for the season and this season they used Swim Instructors. In Swim Instructors, JT teaches a girl how to swim, which later saves her life from drowning(Mayrbek) and he gets his own comeuppance when he seeks revenge(Barry trying to kill Fuches and undoing all his work this season to go on the straight and narrow)
She didn’t tell the truth, but I don’t think she lied. She panicked and her shame took over. She played out her ideal scenario without realizing it in real time.
@@jeffreydrozek-fitzwater4649 That would still be a lie. It was supposed to be her true story and she didn't tell it. Just because an emotion drives you to lie, doesn't mean you didn't lie lol
@@jeffreydrozek-fitzwater4649 I don't get the argument. If I got angry and hit someone in the arm, did I not hit them because my emotions took over? Someone still got a bruise on their arm. Sally said she was gonna tell the truth and she told something else. Everyone in the crowd recieved a lie regardless of her intentions.
I love this episode. It sets up the entire rest of the series. I’ve noticed the reaction to Sally flipping the script is almost universally negative. I didn’t feel that way. I thought she, in that moment, played out how she had always wanted it to go, what she was ashamed of not doing all this time. It’s powerful and sad and scary. The other big thing for me is the assault on the monastery. This is where the show commits to not glorifying violence. Barry killing everyone isn’t fun, or cool, or exciting. It’s shocking, ugly, and awful. You don’t want to see it, but you also can’t look away.
Barry didn't kill anyone the entire season until this episode. Dude just lost it and it lowkey is the beat that gets us all the way to the end of the show. Just fantastic stuff.

Two in one day? But Christmas is still 12 days away! This episode is bonkers too.

For a character is that’s so expressive normally, Cousineau being completely emotionless in a reaction to a shocking discovery is great
He sat up from bed and said “oh my god.”

Also note this is the first time Barry kills anybody in season 2. Even when he tried to kill someone earlier, he doesn't end up being the one
Did he try to kill anyone earlier? I think he was trying NOT to kill Ronny. Regardless, your point stands and he had many opportunities!

I literally just finished the episode 7 reaction and was expecting to wait a week. This is a great surprise 👌
Stephen Root is such a good actor
That shit with Sally was messed up! She got some much of the approval she always wanted by lying about her story.
Yes people want the easy to digest hero story not the truth

Barry went the whole season without killing a single person and then went crazy at the end
After this episode covid hit. It's like a year and a half before we see him again
Just a reminder. This show has FOUR seasons.

Head's up. Season 3 gets weird. at times real weird.
Episode 7???

See, this episode would be better on the detective side if they had kept Louch alive and not killed him off as a goof in that fuckawful episode 5.
