Hi, it's Daniel Lombroso, the director of "Nina & Irena." I've devoted my career to exposing far-right extremism, beginning with my feature film, "White Noise," where I spent four years embedded with white nationalists. Now, I turn the camera on my own family and their survival in the Holocaust. Sadly, the film feels more relevant than ever. Ask me anything!

@@lhl9010stop projecting. This is exactly how legacies are passed to the next generations, instead of erased and forgotten.
I hold my grandparents traumatic childhood stories and war experiences in the same way. People need to know it wasn’t for nothing as they age (their suffering or struggle) that their grandchildren will carry it ‘s lessons forward and do better. She imparting wisdom. Wisdom is not born out of the happy unchallenging times.
The parting words of grandparents ring truer and louder in our ears the closer we get to their age.

@@lhl9010There was no coercion of Irene. Don’t you understand sometimes people just need to be asked, to be heard? Mon Dieu, has your life been so sheltered you have no understanding of what a trauma survivor needs? You know nothing of war. Your virtue signaling is misguided. Listen. Learn.

I completely understand that. If you dwell on something so inhumane, it seems to me, you'd just be angry. My question would have been, "How are you not angry?", but she answered that for me. It happened. There's nothing that can be done about that so move on.

Your grandmother is such a sweet and genuine beautiful woman! Cherish her for as long as you have her, my grandparents passed when I was a teenager and early 20’s before I got a chance to ask them about their childhoods and what my dad was like as a kid. I’d do anything to have them back but I just hope that everyone’s correct that we’re reunited with our loved ones after we pass.
