Didn't expect that Mark is also a fan of B.M.W's music, anyway... funny we have some things in common besides drums and his favorite nr 1 Record. Mark's jazz quartet at concert at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam in 2015 is one of my favorites of all time.
I like that at around 11:54 he accidentally hits the mic. The man just can't stop being a drummer, even for a top ten list. Love ya Mark. Now, off to listen...
Ahah .. "feed me weird thing" .. Why am I not surprised, that album was and is still a shock today. That album is a monument, if aphex is much more prolific, squarepusher creates much more compact universes in each of his track.. Tundra is the music I suspect is heard once you just passed away going to somewhere else...
Feed Me Weird Things and Drukqs.... that stuff plus your jazz faves-- just you in a nutshell dude. Although I'm surprised a) that you picked drukqs over the other more beat/rhythm-based straightforward IDM aphex albums and b) that you DIDN'T pick squarepusher's Music Is Rotted One Note, since it seems to combine jenkinson's jazz and electronic sensibilities in a way I'm sure you'd appreciate and understand. Dont get me wrong. Drukqs is great, but half the tracks (if I remember correctly-- it's been a while) are like baroque piano ballads with NO drums. Interesting choice. PS. Bonus props for LCD soundsystem. 🙂🔥
