- Dehradun Terminal railway station is a railway station in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, on the Northern line of the Northern Railway network. It is owned by Indian Railways.It was established in 1899 by the British.The station is the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT), which is 4.5 kilometre from the bus stand and the main taxi stand.
The nearest airport to the station is the Jolly Grant Airport, about 24 kilometers from the station.
It is the last station on the Northern railway line in the area.
The Haridwar-Dehradun line, which was the continuation of the branch line of Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway from Laksar on the main line to Haridwar, was opened in 1900. Dehradun was the terminus of this 77 km (48 mi) long line.The railway track between Haridwar and Dehradun was sanctioned on 18 November 1896.It was constructed between 1897 and 1899, and was opened for rail traffic on 1 March 1900.The construction of the railway station had a huge impact on the town of Dehra. Pensioners, European settlers and several other people were attracted to the town due to its pleasant climate. The railway line provided them easy connectivity to other parts of India. The railway line was also responsible for the steep increase in the export of rice, timber and limestone from the town.
There were plans to further extend railway services from this railway station to Mussoorie. The first attempt in this regard was made in 1896 but could not succeed.The project was initiated again in 1921, when the Mussoorie Electric Tramway Company Ltd was formed to set up a tram line from Dehradun to Mussoorie.The tram line was to start from the railway station and reach Mussoorie passing through Rajpur road, Dilaram Bazaar, Rajpur, Makherti, Oak-Grove, Fairlawn and Barlowganj.Work began and two stations were built on the line: one in Dilaram Bazaar and another near Parade Ground.The project was then scheduled to be completed by 1925 at an estimated cost of Rs 36 lakh, however the prices were expected to come down by 30 to 40% due to a steep fall in iron and steel prices at that time.But the tunnel at Jharipani is supposed to have caved in, killing a few workers. This combined with political unrest and the alleged embezzlement of funds by company officials eventually lead to the project being abandoned.
The Vande Bharat Express is based on Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trainsets, of which the standard design has been in service since the mid-1990s. The Integral Coach Factory has manufactured MEMU technology for the last 25 years.As a supplement for the long-distance Vande Bharat Express, a modified MEMU was built incorporating Vande Bharat technology for suburban, commuter and short-distance intercity runs.
In June 2015, Indian Railways issued a bid for train manufacturing, but no bid met the necessary criteria, leading to the decision to manufacture trains independently in India.
Two new trains were announced to be manufactured at ICF and were named "Train-2018" due to the targeted completion date.

देहरादून एक ऐसा स्टेशन है जहां से एक भी राजधानी एक्सप्रेस नहीं चलती है। जबकि देहरादून उत्तराखंड की राजधानी है!!!
उत्तराखंड राज्य का पर्यटन उद्योग भी विकसित हैं। क्या यहां पर राजधानी एक्सप्रेस नहीं चलनी चाहिए थी।सर जी इसके बारे में आपका क्या ख्याल है?
सर जी आए दिन वन्दे भारत एक्सप्रेस के आगे आवारा जानवर के आने की घटनाएं हो रही है।रेल मंत्रालय इसके लिए क्या करें रहा है? जबकि देहरादून जाने वाली रेललाइन अधिकतर जंगल से होकर गुजरती है।
इसके लिए रेल मंत्रालय क्या क़दम उठा रहा है? इस पर आप एक वीडियो बनाईए। पूरी जानकारी के साथ।

विजय जी राजधानी एक्सप्रेस देश की राजधानी दिल्ली को दूर के राज्यों को जोड़ती है और उत्तराखंड दिल्ली के करीब है इसलिए यहां पर राजधानी नहीं चलाई जा सकती भारत में इस समय सबसे कम दूरी की राजधानी चल रही है जो दिल्ली से जम्मू तक चलती है यही कारण है कि उत्तराखंड के देहरादून में एक भी राजधानी नहीं है क्योंकि यह राजधानी एक्सप्रेस के मानक को फॉलो नहीं करता!

भाई आपकी बात सही है लेकिन ये ट्रेन मेन लाईन के लिये नहीं बनी है ये ट्रेन शार्ट दूरी के लिए होती है,मेरठ और मुज़फ्फरनगर के बीच मेमू चल सकती है जो आगे तक जायेगी लेकिन ईएमयू जो दिल्ली गाज़ियाबाद की तरफ चलती है उनका यहाँ मुश्किल है क्योकि वो URBAN & SUBURBAN लाईन के लिये होती है

देहरादून से मुंबई लोकमान्य तिलक सेंट्रल या फिर बैंगलोर और डिब्रूगढ़ टाउन आसाम के बीच कोई सुपरफास्ट वंदे भारत एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन चलाई जानी चाहिए।
आगे चलकर स्लीपर वंदे भारत आयेगी।
