i am an RVT and I feel for you in this situation. FIV can make cats more susceptible to infections and they can have a hard time clearing the infections. I hope you get some good news ❤️
:(( it sucks!! Thankfully the test came back negative!!! YAYYY!!! But we still don’t have an answer… thinking maybe herpes. However the PCR test is SO expensive to test for that
My male Maine coon has gotten a few UTIs in the past. Apparently, it’s very common for male cats since their urethra is so small. My vet suggested getting a low carb wet food (like the Friskies pate’-any of the fish flavors). We give him that in the evenings and in the morning a blend of HillSong Uretic dry food and Purine One tender selects (we use both because he doesn’t like the flavor of the Uretic one on it’s own). This has been working for the last 2 years to prevent any more UTIs. Hope this helps!
Hey girl! I’m a medical assistant. I was PRN at my last job. I was going to a different office everyday or every week or so. My suggestion to you is if possible carry a little note book with you that you can keep on your person during your shift & when you get a moment you can write down notes so that you can remember what you learned (:

do you float to any unit? or is it similiar to mother baby like peds. if you go to ICU would you be a sitter? im nervous about that too since caring for adults is different than babies

You may not see this but have they done a triple test on him for FIV? It’s feline herpes essentially.Very common, and manageable
