One of the best and most intimate devotionals I've ever read, so simple yet profound. Nice to find it on audio.

I have been blessed to have Faith and by the Lord's Grace Saved. With that being said ;) This beautiful read allowed me a perspective that so encouraged my relationship with him even more so. I hope that more who like me need to stay consistent in our walk will read this and invest in its reward. God is always working. He is very alive, present and active. Thank you for sharing.

Really made me look at psalm 23 in a different way. To give yourself over totally to CHRIST as a sheep would totally trust his shepherd. David was proud of who his master was I should work on being more bold myself

As dairy farmers, then beef and always a few horse's, I've been so glad that I had a very unique knowledge when reading the Word of God. It is so fulfilling. Your book has so helped me to understand exactly why He has given us such strength and hope, even in our trials.
But, I have one question for u? Please understand that my only knowledge of sheep, is from our kids and even us older ones, that got to show them at fairs. So, I'm wondering, can and do u ever, simply lay out hay, when the ground is covered in snow? U already know, I'm sure, that we feed our cows and horse's this way. I do understand that sheep are kind of hard on pastures so they must be moved, often, but as I'm helping to lay out hay, this thought crossed my mind.
    Even so, come Lord Jesus.

This is my second time reading and studying this book. I was the student then now the facilitator for a group of others. This book is a must have for any Christian library.

My father gave me this book and it takes each line of the 23 Psalm and explains it all. It helps you understand why we have a shepherd cause we fall and need a shepherd to get back up sometimes. I have two copies in hardback but found paperback copies on Amazon.

life changing. I could not let go and trust the Lord to take care of me until i read this. All my life I had to take care of myself so didn't know how to give up my own efforts until reading it.

Matt Harris Did you ever find the other chapters anywhere? I just got the book, but I learn better when I hear things read to me, rather than only reading myself.

The bible literally warns against adding or subtracting from His word and this is why it's dangerous to read ideas that don't line up with the word of God (erroneous teachings are running rampant). #1 We can never compare God Almighty with human shepherds @ all b/c it's evident that God Almighty is Omnipresent Omniscient and Omnipotent and we are not. We can't even compare our goodness as parents to Him as our Heavenly Father for He is beyond good according to Matthew 7:11 and there's nothing sinful about Him unlike us humans. David wrote Psalm 23 through the power of the Holy Spirit and I pray that we start revering our Lord Almighty who's arms are not too short to save us and His creation unlike our arms which can't extend to save anything that would be in danger unless we're close by.
Us humans are seriously limited & can't sleep unless we break a wandering sheep's leg b/c when we wake up we won't know where that sheep went. God made cats and dogs so that they can roam the earth, but we lock them up at home so that we won't lose them (similar to zoo keepers).
Praying that we discern everything that's outside of the word of God and remain faithful to Him no matter who writes a book to twist His Awesomeness.

If we can never compare God to a shepherd as you say, then we would have to erase psalm 23 because that’s precisely what David does: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not lack.” Keller elaborates on what it means to be a shepherd and what David meant by phrases a non-shepherd would never, could never understand unless a shepherd, like Keller, elaborated on phrases like “prepares a table for me” and “anoints me with oil.” These are phrases conducive to the care and concern of the Shepherd for his sheep and explain the depths, or at least try to explain, the terms and phrases David used to express his love, his gratitude to God. I hope you take another look at this book. It isn’t what you imply it to be.

@@lelandro42 You're missing the point David exalted God Almighty and never tried claiming that Yaweh has to break sheeps legs which is an obvious limitation of human shepherds who choose to do that in order to be assured that we know that the sheep won't escape again. God Almighty is so divine as our Shepherd (He's Omnipresent) & He gives us human beings freewill which sadly means that if we choose to escape we'll face the consequences of living outside of His covering & divine protection.

God dislocated Jacob’s hip when they wrestled, killed over 20,000 rebels with a plague, and a lot more. Besides, Keller doesn’t say a shepherd breaks sheep’s legs. Where are you getting that? You’re commenting on things you’re not understanding.
