My parents were not music lovers so I took my allowance and walked 2 miles to the Firestone store to buy this album. Now 73, it's not Christmas until I play this album. I still have it. The arrangements of each song are superb. My mother wasn't much for music but she loved Christmas. It was the best time of the year in our apartment.
Almost 60 years later & I still am ready to stomp on the floor at the 22 second mark, where our album always got stuck during "For Unto Us a Child Is Born."
That's a laugh out loud, only those with experience with phonographs could relate to! Thank you haha.
We taped a quarter to the tonearm 😅

Thank you. My Dad purchased this album on our way to my Grandparents for Christmas 1964. He had stopped to get gas. I can remember him carrying back to the car. I was 5 at the time. He passed away the following December.

This was a great find here. I grew up with my grandmother playing these in her house at the holidays. My grandfather worked for Firestone for 40 years. They had a cabinet stereo and the sound would fill the entire house. Just fantastic memories
Glorious time when Jesus Christ was at the Heart of Christmas with no apologies. When woke was not and the USA was still a free republic and precisely because we as a Country kept Christ as our King.

Mom got one every year and right after Thanksgiving, we got out the Christmas boxes and started decorating the house while playing these albums....she so loved Christmas and I love that I can come on here and relive those old days with these albums!

I remember it well! I have around 10 or so and still play them. I miss my parents too as well as those times.
My dad actually worked at Firestone. I am a full blown atheist but these do bring up fond childhood memories.

Fantastic quality thanks so much I remember these when I was a child. So many wonderful singers.
My grandparents had this LP and played it every Christmas, when I was a teen I made a cassette copy of it and played it for my Christmas music, and then in recent years I found the original LP in their closet. It is essential Christmas music to listen to, especially when I visit the hometown where they lived during the holiday season!

My Family had this Album back in the 70's and would be the first Christmas Album we would play each year. I haven't heard this album in over 30 years. Brings back a lot of great memories. Thank you so much for uploading to TH-cam.

My dad worked at Firestone too in the 60s and would bring one of these albums home every year. They were the soundtrack of my childhood Christmases.
Volume 3 has always been my favorite of the Firestone Christmas recordings. It is so nice to hear it again in its entirety. Thanks for posting this nostalgic recording!

Superb performance of "Good King Wenceslas" by the Firestone Choir and Orchestra and the Boychoir.
I have great memories of these albums. My parents bought one every year. I saw someone else comment about it being from a simpler, more easy to understand time. I agree. America still knew who she was. I pray to God that we can find our way back. In the meantime, it is wonderful to at least be able to listen these album now. Thank you for posting these!

Oh my goodness. :0 To actually find this album. again. It was, and still is the definitive "Silver Bells". Well, I was 6 yrs old, now 60 yrs old. But to this day, I remember it all. Records were treats.This one was mine. Thanks! : D
The songs from the past define our present sense. Much of my Christmas joy is rooted in these albums. The bring tremendous joy and warmth. I'll share them with my kid and pass on the magic.

I was 7 when my dad brought this album, an RCA Christmas album and a cheap Philco stereo home from our Firestone store. The next year he bought Volume 4, and it is in stereo! Julie stole my heart, being fresh off Mary Poppins, which I saw at the theater. I'll just sit back and enjoy the memories with the rest of you boomers! I still have those albums, and as abused as they are, I cleaned them thoroughly and now get them out every year. But this sounds much better!

These albums and the Ray Conniff singers Christmas albums have been my soundtrack to Christmas since I was born.
My parents had 5 of the set of the Firestone Christmas Favorites albums. My Mom passed away last year, and I held onto these albums. This particular album, Vol. 3, was always my very favorite Christmas album ever. We used to listen to these while trimming her Christmas Tree, until the record player ceased to run. Then they were stored away for about 15 years.
My musical foundation from my parents. Piano lessons along with Broadway, inspired appreciation of all music. Well they tried. Thankfull.......
When I think of the Christmas albums we had when I was a kid, I think of this one!

These are the best of all Christmas albums. We had them in the 60's when I was little. I don't know what ever happened to them. I searched high and low to just find out the name of the albums. All I could remember is the album covers had a bit bow on them. Google came through for me last year after endless searches other years. I found a company in Salt Lake City that had them and copied them all onto CDs for me with the artwork of each album. Cost a bundle but made me happy so it was worth it.
I wish I knew the name of that company, I’d order myself. This is the only Firestone Christmas my parents ever had but it was and is to this day my favorite Christmas album with O Holy Night being my favorite selection. That and Little Drummer Boy.

Firestone's 1964 holiday LP "Your Xmas Favorites, Vol. 3" is a masterwork, with Yuletide classics brilliantly brought to life by the four soloists, the Columbus Boychoir and Maestro Joe Harnell conducting the Firestone Choir and Orchestra. Corelli's "Panis Angelicus" is powerful, and Macrae shines on "Sleigh Ride" and "Go Tell It On The Mountain". CHRIST IS BORN!!
Thank you for reconnecting me to one of my favorite childhood Christmas albums. I have no idea how it came to be in my home; however, it helps me to understand my youthful appreciation of classical music, my lifelong pursuit of vocal excellence., and my enduring fondness for McRae, Peters, and Corelli (I do not believe I have ever heard Wright sing anything else).
My parents had one or two of these Firestone albums. I think this is one of them. They were and still are very good. Thanks for posting it!

I have a 33 LP of this one! My Godfather gave me a couple of these volumes, back when great classical singers performed Christmas music...

Every year I begin my holiday by listening to The Holly and the Ivy, it's my favorite on this album. I love Martha Wright's voice and she sings it perfectly. Thank you so much for posting this album!

This album was playing in the background of my family's Christmas celebration at my grandparent's home in 1979. Glad to hear this again. I only remember because I made a tape recording of it.

I enjoyed the two Peters numbers as well. Roberta, who died in 2017, was one of the first opera singers I enjoyed listening to. I was a little boy then, and I had no idea that she was a soprano, let alone a lyric/coloratura! (Thank the Lord she never sang Wagner; although Peters was a great singer, she didn't have the vocal power of Kirsten Flagstad or Birgit Nilsson!)
Famous for its garish, Hollywood-style arrangement of "Panis Angelicus"--- with the great Franco Corelli (it's transposed DOWN a tone into G Major; I wonder why? He certainly didn't need it!). It starts at 6:29. HOWEVER-- despite the negative tone of my comments-- I Love it; can't help myself. Corelli just let's it all hang out, the solo trumpet uses tons of vibrato, and the choral entrance that sneaks in at 9:19 gets me every time.
I don't think the arrangement of "Panis Angelicus" is garish; I consider it dignified. The brass section of the Firestone Orchestra plays magnificently on this track and on the entire album.
My favorite of all the other albums.

We grew up with these Albums. Now in my 50's it transports me back in time. Thank you so very much for posting it . I have been looking for yrs to find it.It wasn't Christmas time till Mom pulled out and played the albums.Is there a way to upload it?
Such a great album. Is there anyway you can download this album to Spotify. It has so many of the old Christmas Albums Except this Firestone Favorites Vol. 3. I grew up to this album and it has the best songs and the greatest artists. I would love to be able to download this to my playlist but you have to have premium and I cannot afford it. If someone could download it then others can see the album and I can copy some of the songs to my Christmas playlist. Thanks

Oh wow, I had in idea that Corelli did one of these albums. We usually bought the Goodyear one. I know that Richard Tucker and Jan Peerce did some of the Goodyear ones. Did Franco do any other Firestone albums besides this one?

Volume 3 was the only Firestone Xmas LP Corelli did. On the other hand, Roberta appeared on Volume 6 in 1967.
