I am so grateful to these actors and crew that have kept this show going. It has given me some amazing laughs over the decades, so much joy….usually alone, and only Red Dwarf and Fawlty Towers can have me on the floor, out of control laughing, whilst alone. Thank you, thank you all.
I always loved this show. It’s proud of the way it was put together. From the sets to the actors and crew behind it all it comes across as being exactly what it should be…ENTERTAINING !!! Maddest show ever. !!!
Great to see David Ross as Talkie Toaster recorded his lines via a BBC Local Radio Mark 3 desk - one of the finest mixing desks in the world, and just one of the amazing designs to come out of BBC Equipment Department. Huge bonus for a self confessed Radio studio anorak like me.
( 47:28 ) But Norman Lovett said he didn’t want to be in red dwarf anymore as Doug told us in his Back to Earth dvd commentary, did he forget it was his choice to leave?
Before I watched this I was delusional saying when will the next series one be? But after watching it to say that you would be saying "What the what?" The only way they will be back is in animated form. Animating Red Dwarf would be amazing.
Funny how they consider 12 alot of episodes when american series regularly consist of 20 odd episodes but brits go for quality over quantity and thats no bad thing.
I remember being pretty surprised to learn that series XI and XII were made at pretty much the same time, because while I thought XI was okay, it was significantly worse in every way than XII. I dunno, maybe that extra month gave them time to tighten up the scripts. Except for Timewave, which was utter shit.
content isnt important, because my dad and i thought it was the best sicfi going on, next to hitch hikers, neither of us could get enough of the show, it was just getting better and better, then it started going back to cheaper story lines, but we never gave it up.................❤❤❤❤
Is the reason Richard Naylor keeps on referring to his dad as Doug rather than just dad to try and distance himself from the obvious nepotism going on?
I would say it's just professionality in the workplace. Not necessarily nepotism. How many companies are called Surname & Son(s)? Family business/ following in the father's footsteps.
The money is not here to make 20 or 26 episodes per "season". We don't have the same budgets as NBC, CBS, ABC etc have. Also, we are a different culture. Viewers here get bored with long seasons of sitcoms. Famously here, the 1980s sitcom Allo allo did make a 26 episode season, as they were speaking about a syndication deal for US TV, but when the series aired, the audience ratings dropped during it, as viewers got bored.

Childhood heroes 👍 Thanks for the Great memories 👍
I hope they make more series. However long it takes. Lifelong fan.
Think he’s doing a tour soon😅
Nah, was good for a long time until six then it forgot it was supposed to be low budget and daft and started to take itself a bit seriously.

"They're going to tear me a new one - in a really caring, counselling way" somehow fits the Dwarf ethos perfectly.

Was good fun being an extra on time wave. But remember Robert having to leave he was struggling after a couple of scenes. Glad he went to hospital

51:45 the top-left corner of the screen looks to be a zoom-in for some reason, as seen when RL moves his arms high enough. Bit weird that.

@@theendsbanduk I honestly can't tell whether that is him or someone who looks just like him.
Makes sense. He is owner of BabyCow productions
Did he ask the crew what they thought of the pedestrianisation of Norwich City Centre
@@AndrewChapman It REALLY does look like him though, doesn't it?

Craig Charles comes across as a really unlikable person, great as Lister no doubt though in the early years.

@@JimBexSpeed That's what nepotism is
A season of 8 episodes is a joke it’s ridiculous the way it works in the UK.
