Thanks for the great info. I am taking clients out so will try to post conditions and info from a kayaker's perspective. We don't run as far down as boaters but we do get them.
Great overview. Are there any spots to bank fish and if so can you give an idea of where you can and can't drive as well as where you can park and how far you can expect to walk to a good spot? Thanks.
AS far as back fishing goes the only area I am aware of that is fishable from the bank is right at the ramp area. As you pull into the ramp area go to the west side and you will see a small area that you can fish. It may be a rather small spot but a lot of fish are caught there. AS far as I know you can not walk the dirt road to the west which runs to the south because that would put you fishing in the main canal that goes to the lake which is off limits for fishing. If you can get you hands on a kayak you can put in at the ramp and about 1/2 a mile down the main canal there is a bay off to the left which holds a lot of fish or just drop in at the kayak launch area further down the grade road right as you get to the stick marsh parking area.
Can you (or even should you) put in a kayak at the headwaters and then go down the S-Canal to get into the lake? I hear that you can't fish the S-Canal - true? Or do you suggest just going down to the Stick Marsh boat ramp? How is the hydrilla right now (11/16/20)?
Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes putting in at the main ramp is fine. You just have to watch out for the boats coming and going. The bay on the east side of the S Canal is a good place to fish and not that far to to pedal/paddle. You can also break to the east a bit further down and get into some really nice fishing grounds that do not see much pressure.
Thanks for the update! I’ve only been out there one time and it was pretty hectic getting in and finding a spot to park in the morning. In your experience, what time in the morning is best to show up and wait in line to park?
Hey George, It is 3 miles from the ramp to the east west canal. If you bring up the map of the lake in Google by doing a search for fellsmere reservoir and click on the map then if you right click on your mouse you will see an option for distance. Just click a starting point and then you can drag the pointer around and it will give you the distance in miles. Hope that makes sense. If that was not clear let me know and I will make a video showing you how to do it as well as how you can get the lat and long for any spot on the lake as well.
hey are doing what I believe to be the best job possible in keeping the canal clear. AS you already know things can change in a matter of hours out there depending on wind direction and speed.
Great up-date!!!
The break in the S canal is after the southeast Indian mound. Also from the kayak launch to the little square after the fingers is 6 miles
Love the updates. Thanks for keeping the fishing nerds amped.

Good info thank you!!
Thanks Ricky. We need to do an updated video on the lake map. Appreciate you watching.
Can you fish headwaters from land?

I usually plan to get to the ramp around 10-10:30. The early guys are bailing as it starts to warm up so you can always find a spot to park.
Can you give us some idea of distance, miles, 1/2mile, 500 yards for example. How far is the N/S canal to East/ West Canal?

They are working on keeping that S canal open for us, but it can really be a fight to get through there sometimes.
