The history of the canal is really interesting and it's surprising how little people know about it! The Sainsbury's that they show in the video is my local one and despite that, I never actually knew that there was a plan for it!
Another great video on my patch. I regularly ride the Bournbrooke walkway as you found its wet in winter. Incidentally the bit heading towards Harborne Lane was a reservoir and has been recently made into a wetland as part of a flood management scheme.
Thanks! That's interesting about the Reservoir - makes sense that they've turned it into a wetlands bit. Shows how important that these places are in a city, not just providing habitats for animals but also helping to prevent flooding!
Mostly off road routes to/from useful places like hospitals, GPs, dentists, stations, etc are great. Really helps make active travel more attractive, especially if they are well maintained and signposted.
Definitely! With parking being a finite resource round the hospital at the best of times, having good active travel measures is key to helping people access these services!
I've only used the Bourn Brook walkway a few times but it is one of those wonderful routes that takes you between built up areas with lots of connections either side
Yeah it looked really nice last summer when I had a cycle down it. I think these routes, like here and Rea Valley, are really important in allowing people to get around
Yes absolutely! I've got a route in mind but hopefully the journey between the two should become even easier with the extension of the A38 Cycle Route which I think is due to start some time this year!
Very interesting about the canal! and Vincent Drive looks really cool

Very interesting esp about the Lapal Canal 'bypass' - I did wonder where that would be.

Could you do a route from Moor street Station/ new street Station to the orthopedic hospital?
