I've read a lot of bad reviews of this album. I don't get what the fuss is all about. As a lifelong metalhead and Judas Priest fan, I am loving this album!!!
This song sounds like a medieval folk song played on modern instruments. I mean that literally; I can vividly imagine this being played by a group of bards at a tavern in feudal England, except obviously with the instruments that existed in that time period. Actually, it kinda sounds like that one song from Skyrim that you always hear being played in the inns; the one that goes "We drink to our youth, to days come and gone..." You know which one I'm talking about? That's what this song reminds me of.
'The whispers can't hide when the tongues are let loose Then hiding the truth is absurd A stab in the back or a taste of the noose Is when action speaks louder than words' The way Rob sings this makes the whole song
POWERFUL! A completely metal song. Is incredible how a 40 years old band can make so powerful songs as this! This is one of the greatest in the album, absolutely, and one of my favorites songs! Great lyrics, great riffs, great voice; A COMPLETELY MASTER PIECE!
More than any other song ive ever heard, this feels like medieval battle music. I could imagine an army of men clad in chain mail marching into battle chanting the vocal melodies, with war drums and lutes and tin whistles and flutes playing that lead guitar melody. Some one should make a version of this song like that, it would be amazing.
Awesome! Who would have thought Rob and the boys could pull off the best, heaviest, rocking album in 2014! Priest FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are no words how much I love JP. This particular album though, sent me down a rabbit hole I didn't emerge from for years. I LOVE Ozzy, BS, & many others, but JP... maaaan... they. Just. Hit. It. Every. Freakin'. Time!! 👍🤟🤟🤟🤟❤️❤️❤️❤️🎯🎯🎯🎯
A lot of posers wish they were rockin' as hard as Priest STILL is. There are a lot of 80's metal bands that need to just stop trying and Judas Priest isn't one of em! PS...Scott Travis is kickin ass on the drums!
It's a very Fates Warning-esque masterpiece! Casual fans might not be very satisfied with this song, however, in terms of musicality, this song shares the same league with The Sentinel, Painkiller, Sinner and many other classics.
Hey my man a lot of these guys never heard of Fates Warning, let alone how to compare Priest to them. Besides Fates was never in Priest class. Very underground type band Fates is.
This is a great song. Just wish this album had the production job Firepower has. This song also sounds like something Saxon would do. They both remind me of each other in all the best way's possible
This is the only song on the album that I can vision Iron Maiden playing and Bruce singing. It has a very Maidenisque sound. This is an awesome album. Loving every bit of it. "Shot Down In Flames" with the line "Blaze of Glory." I can't help but laugh and think of Bon Jovi. lmao
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that little interlude...wish there was more of that. but its clear they pretty much channeled the "corpse of liberty" by Kreator. I always wished that one had singing on it.
It sounds to me like a toss up of Judas Rising and A Touch of Evil. Just a blazing and majestic classic heavy metal masterpiece with historical and fantasy elements. Priest get it right every time in metal. This is what 40+ years in metal looks like.
i dont care if JP has better albums (diferent), the fact is that Halford is back with JP and make a real Heavy Metal alboum in 2014 and he start touring , he is 63 years old, respect for his courage. I follow him as he remain authentic ofcourse he cant sing as 20 years before but he is great ...
Actually if you listen to him live, I think he sounds a lot better than he did in the 90s and the early 80s (like the US Festival, where I think he sounded terrible). Listen to Jawbreaker, Victim of Changes or Devil's Child in Pittsburgh from this tour. They're absolutely phenomenal.
the british boys and an american, leave there mark at 122 .the riff kicks in sets the tone for the rest of song. the song also has celtic undertones to it . very cool indeed!!! man just loving that riff though!!!!!!!
A friend of mine said that Judas Priest's songs all sound the same...i have one less friend
I did he is Just stupid.
***** B-but I love Demolition :c (Well I love every JP album, probably Demolition is my second or third least favorite JP album :B)
Nicholas St. John yes sad wings of destiny and painkiller sounds exactly the same. (sarcasm, duh)
+Nicholas St. John blood stained sounds exactly like turbo lover
+Nicholas St. John Why, did you kill him?
I get goosebumps when he says "Truth will find its reward"!
Cool
yup the multi-layered harmonic vocals of Rob are truly spot on there, he really knows how to harmonize with himself.
It will and when it does look out
Definitely one of the best songs on the album.
I've read a lot of bad reviews of this album. I don't get what the fuss is all about. As a lifelong metalhead and Judas Priest fan, I am loving this album!!!
anyone does not like this record has no clue what great music is.
I've read a lot of very positive reviews from critics.
I Agree!!! I love it!
i agree priest is at there best. i love this album its a mix of nostradamus and screaming for vengeance. cant wait to see them again
This is one of there best albums ever!i think 10 out of the 13 are amazing!

You'd definitely like Blind Guardian, I highly recommend them for what you've described.
Brian Wade Brilliant observation.
Yes this does have a medieval European feel to it...even though the sword of Damocles is a reference to ancient Rome.
Like the other guy said, that pretty much describes Blind Guardian, but also Ensiferum too
There are two versions of that song, age of aggression and age of oppression
'The whispers can't hide when the tongues are let loose
Then hiding the truth is absurd
A stab in the back or a taste of the noose
Is when action speaks louder than words'
The way Rob sings this makes the whole song

Best song of the album
This song with its blues riffage and some nods to classical music sounds like it belongs on Sin After Sin. Favorite song on the album so far.
This is by far the best song on this album.
Judas Priest forever

That's exactly what I felt as well....strong Medieval type element here.
this is one of there best in my opinion
This song is a like a waltzing juggernaut. What a huge chorus. This and 'Between the Hammer and the Anvil' are my go-to motivational songs.
This album is amazing, this is one of their best songs
Glad to see this song making the 24 live setlist!
Agreed
Judas Priest beste Heavy Metal Band aller Zeiten👍👍👍👍👍 Unerreichbar👍👍👍👍👍
this song has become my inspiration and my theme song. i love this album i can not stop listening to it
Awesome! Who would have thought Rob and the boys could pull off the best, heaviest, rocking album in 2014! Priest FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My highlight of the album, love the riff to death and the driving drums on this one. This song is friggen epic.
Great track sounds like old priest! Much props to rob n co
There are no words how much I love JP.

Excellent song.

"Live and die by the sword" is not just words... It's the way to live!UP THE IRONS MY METAL BROTHERS!
Some of Priest's finest work......still love to crank up this album even, what, 3 years on?
Now nine years on pal. This album has aged like a fine wine along with many of Priest and Maiden's metal classics.
Love the Redeemer of Souls album. Judas Priest's untouchable metal magic at work.
Maan i cant get enough of those drums and guitar....
Great percussion and bass--really on the whole album. I think they've updated themselves brilliantly.
2:48 that guitar melody is breahtakingly brilliant and then the heaviness kicks in.
I cant stop listening to this awesome album! This will go down as one of their greatest! Long live the Priest!
What Fates Warning songs does it sound like? This one of my favorite tracks on the new record and I'd like to get into Fates Warning.
ozzy9691 you got me buddy. I was soo shocked anyone mention Fates Warning. But its cool you like Fates. I salute you
Fates are a progressive metal band although in the beginning they played some old school power metal stuff. You might begin with " No Exit" - 1988
Jordan Hikov I know, I played them on the radio in 1988 thru 1991. Like the Anarchy Divine, Silent Cries. Good stuff.
This album kicks ass
Metal is back bitches...
Hahahahaha! Youre fucking right it is..
+David Luiz Metal never left.... Metal is here forever....
Grim Reaper It was there before time and will stay forever
Opino lo mismo pero junto a accept
quite powerful song.my second favourite after Battle cry.

TRUTH WILL FIND ITS REWARD!!! IF YOU LIVE AND DIE BY THE SWORD!!!
Ένα από τα καλύτερα heavy metal κομμάτια όλων των εποχών
Agree Whole Metal Heartedly !!
This is a great song. Just wish this album had the production job Firepower has. This song also sounds like something Saxon would do. They both remind me of each other in all the best way's possible

The song is Down in Flames
Just shows how crap metallica have been for 20 years wen JP can still write albums like this so powerful n heavy .
Who cares about metallica ?
except of "Ride the Lightning" and "Kill 'em All' they always sucked
preach it !
אמתי אבקסיס first 4 albums were good, Kill, Ride, Master and Justice, rest never reached the same level
I think the album by Maiden "Final Frontier" was damn artistic
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that little interlude...wish there was more of that. but its clear they pretty much channeled the "corpse of liberty" by Kreator. I always wished that one had singing on it.
amazing song!!!
Ritmo contagiante e magnífico.
Sim. Eis aí o heavy metal clássico. Aquele q pavimentou o caminho pro Iron !!
The solo has a very Andy LaRocque-esque sound, awesome! Can't wait to see them at the Rockwave festival xD
Este álbum es una obra maestra, jamás podrán empañar el legado de JUDAS PRIEST 🤘🇬🇧🤘
About Fates Warning, there's an amazing cover of Priest's Saints in Hell. You should check it out!

Good song. Nice lyrics.
It sounds to me like a toss up of Judas Rising and A Touch of Evil. Just a blazing and majestic classic heavy metal masterpiece with historical and fantasy elements.
Priest get it right every time in metal. This is what 40+ years in metal looks like.
I like this album!:: *****

the british boys and an american, leave there mark at 122 .the riff kicks in sets the tone for the rest of song. the song also has celtic undertones to it . very cool indeed!!! man just loving that riff though!!!!!!!
so which Spawn issue they used for the cover?!?!
Bitches don't be hatin', I loved the song
It's a Manowar piece! :)
Heavy-metal is now power and melodic metal!
This is the sword which with the Priest rises from the Hell, to cut the metal unfaithful heads off
Power Priest
JP delivering the goods

Most awesome and a good refresher from the usual,repetitive hit the big string with some bass I keep hearing :}
priest black Country boys yam class keep smashing it!
The best song
I was hoping Judas Priest covered "Sword of Damocles" by Richard O'Brien (Rocky Horror Picture Show) but this is an excellent song!
This song reminds me of Stained Class don't know why thou
Perfect.
how many years it has been ~40? Still going strong, even the vocals sound the same, can't believe it.
Absolutely Kickass, took time, but what a song.tried the intro riff on guitar, cant even play it at 75% speed#@^$^#@
LOVE..........
Awesome !!!!
This song makes for a great DND song
this reminds me the song from Dissection "Where dead angels lie"
Excellent song! Unfortunately it will never make into their set list :(
Yeah so this is like...my favorite on the album, aside dragonaut and halls of valhalla. Creatures is pretty good too, but its no night crawler :3
And March of the Damned :3
I loved how Rob Halford said fatality ED BOON hire him as the next Fatality announcer for the next MK game
Shanties, like Iron Maiden...with some phrasing taken from Painkiller...but still heavy metal...
This album is one of the best than there other album
This is how its done. \m/\m/
