The moment when he lost his arm was for sure shocking for most who did not knew it would happen. But even after he could be completely healed that moment helped with taking the story a bit more serious. After all, I personally can perfectly enjoy a feel good story knowing that the main characters will not be killed. There is far more than enough suffering in the real life

The thing is that the people that read the light novels know that at one point the anime will adapt the major plot point and a twist that the anime viewers seem to miss. The further development of the character's relationships with each other is because the story is not about the next big fight it's about the characters and that's what people don't seem to understand.

While I disagree with you from a business stand point. Your Danmachi or LN reviews are generally on point. I actually agree with this video and find the "no stakes" argument sorta unfounded. You can predict what happens in most fantasy series doesn't make them any less fun or enjoyable. Danmachi does have tragedy and death in it just as much as most series. Even thou it's mostly in LN or side stories. The predictable ending is for Bell to die in a "Greek Tragedy" so I hope that doesn't happen.

I completely agree. Just because you can predict on what's going to happen. Doesn't make it any less enjoyable.
For example it's obvious that you can predict that Bell Cranel is going to win the Great Faction War against the Freya Familia.
But you don't know how. Sure you can guess. But that doesn't mean it play out the way you guess it. For me my guess is that Bell is going to fight the Gulliver Brothers. Does not mean that's how it's going to be.
Sure DanMachi can be predictable like Bell getting together with Ais Wallenstein. But that what makes it fun is to see how those predictions go down.

Yeah I agree. Bell’s journey. He goes from weak and helpless to trying to be a hero. He goes from no one wanting him in their group to finding a family. From being the only member to people banding together. Killing them off would be against the story. It is exciting because there is a lot to overcome.
I liked Sword Oratorio because you saw it was not just the Hestia family. All families are going through challenges to get stronger. There are character’s shown in both stories that lost their entire family and have to slowly overcome the stigma and psychological hurdles. Bell doesn’t have to. He does fail to protect Artemis so it is not roses everyday.
Enough of my unstructured comment. Have a good day.

@@MonographicSingleheaded Not a lot. We do know that there exist a few forest nations, all of which are elven, and from which several elf characters that we know of come (Ryu, Lefiya, Riveria, Hedin, Hogni). Apparently, due to elves' strong natural affinity towards magic, lots of high-leveled people live in these elven countries.
We also know that Orario is the greatest power in the world, housing several adventurers levels 4 through 6, as well as dozens of strong Familia in it. There exist other great world powers other than Orario, all of which are weaker than it - those being countries such as Telskyura and the Empire.
Both of these nations have some adventurers that are level 3 and higher. Telskyura, for example, had the Kali Familia - the Familia that Tiona and Tione were born into and left. This Familia had 2 captains, both of whom were level 6.
The Empire is where Lunoire of the tavern comes from. It's known for its constant waging of wars with neighboring countries. There is also the "Abandoned World", which was apparently the biggest nation in the world before it was mysteriously destroyed in its entirety within a single night - this is the country that Allen and Anya came from.
Melen is a port city that uses the Leviathan's corpse to block a tunnel that leads into the Dungeon, to stop monsters from escaping out into the lake right next to the city. Rakia is the warmongering kingdom Welf came from, and it also has the goofy Ares Familia that failed to invade Orario in season 2.
Other than that, there is also the Dragons' Valley - going by its name, it probably has lots of strong dragons in it. It's a mountain range to the north of Gekai, and some fans speculate that this is the place, in which the One-Eyed Black Dragon is currently resting. The Dragons' Valley and the Dungeon City of Orario are 2 of 3 "Great Unexplored Regions of the World". What can the 3rd region be? We don't know, it might be the World Ocean itself.
We also know that there exist only two level 7 adventurers in the world currently - one being Ottar, and the other being someone called "The Knight of Knights". However, it has been said by Finn that the other level 7 is "probably out at sea" currently.

"We all know the world is full of chance and anarchy.! So, yes, it's true to life for characters to die randomly. But newsflash: the genre's called fantasy.! It's meant to be unrealistic, you myopic manatee!"

The thing is, he has already shown in both Sword Oratoria and Astrea Record he can.go on killing sprees. I actually believe he will bring the sword down later on in the series.
But even if he doesn't it isn't a bad thing. As long as the story is enjoyable it doesn't matter. This season is showing that his friends can fight without him and it is a growth arc for them, Ryu, and Bell. And if you're dead you stop growing, so it is not necessary this arc because that is not what this arc is for.

After watching the first season I dropped the series all together. I liked that the main character wasn’t quite like the prototypical MC but still kinda familiar in that way. The thing that pushed me back was 100% the destination, if the journey and the final objective aren’t both good then it isn’t interesting to me, why waste my time when I know that the destination will be the same as predicted regardless of all the moments in between. This was clear to me as MC just kills the final boss with an incredible power out of nowhere, I thought “bet this is how every season is going to be like” so I stopped and found not a single reason to finish this series.

    • @madcat1738
      @madcat1738 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So you missed him losing at the end of season 3 to the huge monster. You missed his party defeating a Monster Rex without him. There's a whole other story going on (unfortunately not much has been animated) covering one of the two most powerful familias in the series. Oh I'm sure he'll beat the OEBD, but I doubt he'll do it by himself. Just like he didn't beat the monster in season 1 by himself. Even that sword he used came out of the side story.
Power out of nowhere you say? He gained the Argonaut skill after leveling up to 2. At the time he could charge it up to 3 minutes or use it with less power at a lesser charge. He can charge it on any part of his body or on any weapon he carries. He later learns to charge it into his Firebolt spell and more. This power didn't come out of nowhere. It was clearly shown in a previous episode when he beat an infant dragon on floor 12. And Hestia even told him about it calling it a hero strike or something similar. And while the heavy details may have been left in the light novel, the charging part was explained as well as the bell chiming when he charges it.
He has been given skills (Argonaut, Liaris Freese) that are broken. But so have most of the high level adventurers in the city. Had Loki Familia still been on 18 the monster would have been easily beaten by Finn, Gareth and the others. Bell did something beyond a normal level 2 because he's the hero, but he didn't do something no other adventurer could do, and he still hasn't (aside from fast leveling, I'm talking about battles).
And in that case he needed the help of two level 4s, several 3s and 2s, and Welf's magic sword and anti-magic spell and Mikoto's broken gravity spell. And the extremely powerful sword dropped by the floor 37 Monster Rex (rated at least level 6) that Ais defeated solo (a first). You simplify it to Bell beats monster with unknown power when it took the help.of everyone and a bit of luck (which is a passive ability he learned) plus a skill that was clearly shown to be gained by him when he leveled up.
The only way you could think that came out of nowhere is if you didn't pay any attention at all or skipped the 2 or 3 episodes it was mentioned and used.

@@madcat1738 Ma guy literally wrote an essay in response to my comment. I don’t think you quite understood what I said or what I was trying to convey. What I said was that the final destination of the journey/arc has to be as good as the journey, the truth about the first season is that the journey is pretty cool but the end was boring and regular, and I say season 1 because as I said in my comment I only watched season 1. Sure you can say that Bell pulling that sword at the end of season 1 has an explanation or something, but it doesn’t really change the fact that he just pulled out a super broken op sword that one shot the boss, which in it of itself is not a particularly good way of ending the conflict.
I said that the journey of season 1 is pretty cool, which is why seeing how said journey ended in the anime completely pushed me away from the series as a whole. The fact that the story just ended in such a prototypical and common fashion just degrades the anime as a whole in my eyes, and I think that is an important thing about storytelling that people in the anime community don’t really criticize or talk about in general.
Like for instance you said that Bell had to have help and some luck to win, which is true in the story, but as the type of anime that it is you already know that he is gonna win anyways because of the nature of the anime. The first season is a typical adventure story about leveling up and rising through the ranks so to speak, while also exploring interesting side characters, and the anime did this really well for an overly done category. Which is exactly my point, the fact that this anime did the journey of its first season so well for its saturated category is sad in a way, because it just devolved into typical “MC wins and the story’s ending is the same as everything else” which is why I didn’t bothered watching the next season. Because why would I be interested in continuing a series if I already know that the journey will be underwhelmed by the nature of the anime in the end.
Tried to explain it the best I could. I don’t expect you to agree with me or anything, but hopefully you see what I am trying to say about this anime. And yes I did respond to you essay with an essay 🗿.

    • @madcat1738
      @madcat1738 ปีที่แล้ว

@NotLegoo I usually write long posts. I have to deal with government agencies a lot and generally those tend to be long so my writing style is that way.
The problem with your analysis is that you say it came out of nowhere but it didn't. The sword was not the basis of the victory. Yes it held up better because it was a higher quality weapon, but it was his Argonaut skill that was the catalyst and that was shown and explained. Ryu's sword would most likely have worked as well but she was using it and it also would probably have broken. The author likes having him pick up great swords even though he normally fights with knives. It's a quirk the author has. I laugh at it now. But the author has always explained where the power is coming from and usually well in advance. That might not always make it through to the anime, but in this case it did. The whole thing was about Argonaut. The chime, the light, the buildup. I think the sword was there more for the connection to Ais then anything else. He used the sword the girl he likes won from the floor boss.
And you completely ignored that he loses the big climactic fight at the end of the third season because that didn't fit in with him always winning that you claim would happen.
He doesn't even have a fight like that in season 2. His first big fight is against a level 3, and be had spent a week training with 2 level 6s to get his stats overloaded like what happened at level 1 and he barely won, mainly with luck and techniques he learned from a level 6. That moves him up to 3.
Then toward the end of the season he fights a level 5 while he is level boosted to 4 by a spell. He doesn't win but they are on an archway with damage and he manages to destroy the floor around her and make her fall where she gets curbstomped by a level 7.
Then he lets the spell expire and fights a level 3 with higher stats than him. It's a fairly even fight but he pulls it out. Which with his overloaded level 1 and 2 stats, is not unexpected.
So through 3 seasons he has only had the one victory you say came out of nowhere.
It really seems like you made a.n assumption based off of something you felt came out of nowhere but didn't and then applied it to future seasons you knew nothing about.
Not saying this anime is perfect. Season 2 wasn't the greatest, probably due to too much cut content. Season 3 was much better (best till this season) but also suffered from a lot of cut content.
But the light novels are really good, and the author has created a great universe for all the stories he is writing.

@@madcat1738 Don’t take my comment about your writing style the wrong way or anything, I just find it funny that I wrote a paragraph and got like 5 back in return. Nothing wrong with that, better than getting 2 sentences that don’t explain or debate at all.
I think you are missing the point of what I am saying, the problem is not that it did or didn’t came out of nowhere, the problem is that it happened at all. Even if said development has an explanation, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t a problem (I explained it better why I think it is a problem in my previous comment, not feeling like doing it again)
Also I’ve said it before but I didn’t watched pass the first season, which is why my comments are talking about the first season in particular, and why I didn’t watched the other seasons. It doesn’t matter that Bell fails in the third season if I’m gone by the first one.

    • @madcat1738
      @madcat1738 ปีที่แล้ว

@NotLegoo I'm half asleep now. I was editing that comment for something or other.
All I'm getting out if that is that Bell had to lose that battle for you to maintain interest. In the first season of an anime. And in which if he loses basically the series ends. This wasn't a series ending boss. I mean Ryu and Asfi might have eventually run it out of regenerating ability. But they were so wearing down. Two deities entered the Dungeon and it was trying to kill them. The Dungeon is alive and the author was trying to show that certain actions had bad effects. There is a reason gods are not supposed to enter the Dungeon. But we're not supposed to see what happens or why it's so dangerous so the hero doesn't have a fight at the end of the season? That makes no sense.
And it was your assumption that was wrong. You may not have watched it, but it was a faulty assumption that prevented you. So what happens in later seasons is relevant to you saying he will always win like this, when he absolutely doesn't.
I just don't see how the author can demonstrate the effect of gods entering the Dungeon which is a vital part of his world building (the Dungeon being alive is having huge effects on this season in particular, and the limitations on deities also comes into effect in various ways.
I really don't understand what you're wanting. The author has a structure to his story and certain plot points need to be made early on. He should just scrap them because it might make his hero look like he got undeserved power even though it is fully explained and within the proper aspects of the universe and not even making him that overpowered? I don't think the author could have done anything in this situation.

Is it just me? I really enjoyed the series thus far, but I find that this season has by far the worst writing and directing of all the released work!
Sure, I don't expect Bell or Aiz to die, but their friends having plot armour is ridiculous, even more, so how blatant they made it. There's no way in hell that Haruhime could have survived that attack, even with her flame protection cloth.
Another aspect that frustrated me immensely was the pacing. I'm not a seasoned writer, but I'd highly advise you against showing two high-stakes battles at the same time. It's really hard to pull it off without having one battle getting neglected, or the viewer losing patience. IMHO, it would have been much better if Bell and Ryu escaping for the moment, but being stuck on the dangerous floor. This way, the audience knows that they're still in danger, but it's not two battles at the same time. A bit more advanced writing would have been them getting help from the Xenos or that mage working for Uranos. In that case, they could update them a little about the lore and what is going on in the world around them. This could be used to create a different sort of tension. The best example I can think of would be AOT, where there are typically two different threads and one of them gets resolved at the end of the episode, but it results in new mysteries or problems...
Lastly, AOT and Arcane are good examples of what I'd expect to see in a battle sequence. It's not about the length, but how it is shown and how the stakes are established.

    • @madcat1738
      @madcat1738 ปีที่แล้ว

They were fighting skull sheep. One of the weakest monsters on the floor. And Ryu handled 2 pretty easily even with her injury. Not a huge battle by any means.
The goliath robe was already shown to protect against fire (an Argonaut Firebolt which is on par with the blue napalm in terms kf power) in an earlier episode. So yes it would protect against the blue napalm. That isn't a disintegration flame as you saw with Aisha. It just doesn't go out very easily without a dousing potion which Aisha had.
As weak as a level 1 is, even they are considerably more resistant to death than a normal being in that universe. They can hold their breath longer (two level 6s held their breath for around an hour in Sword Oratoria). Their whole body is stronger. Without the robe she still would have died, but it does resist fire.
Also the anime extended the fight at the end, so she was in the flames longer than in the light novel. When they both first charged after thinking Haruhime died, that is when Mikoto and Haruhime both started chanting and the two did their moves to kill it. There wasn't Aisha gettinf knocked back then the monster diving then Ouka getting knocked down. That shorter tims Lso helped her survive.
The anime screwed it up, but if you can't even understand the basic premise of why the falna blessing is so important to adventurers then I don't know what to tell you.
The overall battle was also shortened from the novel, but they whittled its health down like in the anime but over a longer period of time. But everything that happened in the light novel was according to what had already been established previously.
Heck even mermaid blood had been mentioned a few novels back so the healing effect was established well before it was used.
As for the Xenos and Fels. Both are in Knossos at the moment, which means even if they could try and help, the lowest floor they could start on is floor 18 which is above Lili and Co and they would run into them first.
It takes a few days to get from floor 25 to floor 37. Each floor gets bigger and the monsters get tougher and more numerous. 37 is essentially as big as Orario itself. No one is getting to them easy. The whole point is for Bell to learn how to survive on the deep.floors. Ryu has been there many times. She will be a very good teacher. This isn't supposed to be easy, but the monsters on this floor aside from the Mknster Rex, Udaeous, are meant to be handled by level 4s. A party of 6 well-equipped level 4s, but Bell's overloaded stats and Ryu's waiting to meet her goddess to level up abilities can keep themselves alive on this floor.

Danmachi is very predictable. My greates fear is that Bell defeats Ottarl or something. When you compare it with Mushoku tensei you know when you read Turning Point you know shit will go down. If you read a LN with Bell as the Protagonist you know he will win or get stronger. It will be a boring journey if the MC and his friends are imortal. Yes i see you Wiene.

Hmmm yeah it was so great when Bell beat Asterios at the end of season 3. Oh wait.....he didn't. And yes the main hero should just never change, always lose....what an exciting story. Weine staying dead would have done nothing, and probably would have prevented any peace with the Xenos.
I actually believe some characters will die. But not for awhile yet. But even if they don't I don't particularly care. Death is not the only way to move a story or a character forward.

I think the destination is just as important as the journey, the predictability and ridiculous plot armor kinda ruins this one for me.
I recommend tower of druaga, it’s like danmachi but better.

If you can predict it so well, why don't you write to Omori and offer to finish it for him. You must know everything that happens in the next 18-20 volumes plus all of Sword Oratoria as well. Volumes 13 and 14 of Sword Oratoria drop this month and the next. Why don't you amaze us with your accurate predictions. I mean it's just so predictable right?
Amazing what you think is plot armor is well-defined in the universe and established through 14 volumes of light novels.
All of these ghouls on here wanting characters to die to satisfy some sick desire or something.

@@madcat1738 I predict the good guys will win, extra points if bell gets another limb cut off and miraculously reattached in the next ep.

@Fernando Quintero since no further limbs get cut off in this season and your other predictions was so generic as to be useless, we can all see how meaningless your comment was. Congratulations!
Also, since you obviously don't know, Asterios' arm was also reattached with magic healing by Fels in season 3. And mermaids blood was also well established as one of the most powerful healing agents in that universe. Not plot armor but that goes without saying.

@Fernando Quintero when 99% of people can predict that for 99% of anime it's not really a prediction.
