I agree with him. Having no pity after reaching a certain pull is honestly a horrible thing. My friend 400 dollars just to get a single copy of Koyanskaya and i can't imagine how much pain he went through to get 1 copy....
An always fun story to tell in GBF is how sparking (guaranteed chara, so pity system basically) came to be from Monkey man spending $6,000 USD to get Andira, it not only being Monkey man spending obscene thousands to get her, turns out there was some slimy fuckery goin on with undisclosed rates, and thus Monkeygate was born. And it changed the gacha landscape as we know it because it practically invented the fail safe gacha method and forced the Japanese Online Games Association to publish guidelines stating it is very recommended to disclose rates and have a fail safe in your gacha; it's shocking that FGO still endures to this day without pity, or more accurately, is one of the last remaining monoliths of a crueler, slimier time with shady business practices. Says a lot about FGO's devs how the rest of the gacha landscape has changed but they refuse.
This is one of the reason why I don't play FGO, rates are horrible, and that's why I play Last Cloudia, where the rates are very much reasonable even for someone like me who have horrible luck
Yeah, while I do agree that FGO's gacha system is bad, I'd also make a case that the gameplay elements can get downright infuriating, and that's the reason I quit it a little over a year ago (EN server). You don't have a plan or a way to 100% guarantee how your turns will play out, you can be at the mercy of so many systems at once, lol. Everything from the card RNG, Crit Star distribution, enemy AI, enemy/stage gimmicks (for tougher stages), etc. It's... a lot. Raising servants and upgrading them can also be a total pain in the neck too, especially newer ones. QP as a system is unnecessary, and on top of that we have material drop rates, event grinds for rarer materials, etcetcetc. It is also a lot to manage, lol. Yeah, the story is great (after you get past the majority of Part 1), but getting blindsided by difficulty spikes (Corrupted Ushi swarm, Shimosa duels, anyone?) because you're not looking up every battle lineup and mechanics beforehand drained my motivation to play. Anyways, sorry about this text wall, but TL;DR - gacha bad.
Alright, not trying to be white knight here, but as far gacha game goes for a 5 y'o game, FGO is quite tame. If you are in the game long enough, you ought to see some youtuber here and there that actually try to clear contents with f2p unit purely even with bad RNG like card, crit rng, etc. The welfare are super strong that even some summon unit got thrown in the dustbin. Also QP is a hell work, the fact that you said it is unnecessary proves that you are quite young in the game. Well, but after Lost belt released some event and content are outright stupid. EoR and previous content are still safe. Gacha still fxcking sucks of course, but gameplay wise it is not as hard as it looks, annoying for sure. AGAIN, before lost belt.
@@rowega4468 Hey, fair enough. I don't think you're white-knighting, so no worries there. I have indeed watched certain TH-camrs clearing content with F2P, low star, and such servants. It's impressive, though I keep in mind that who knows how many attempts they could've taken before that successful run. There are indeed a few strong welfare, though for every one strong welfare, there's at least three subpar/bad welfare units that never felt worth event-grinding for, or "okay enough" niche servants (like BB, imo) locked behind absolutely horrid grinds. Strictly my opinions, of course. For that bit about the QP system, I had been playing for about ~2 years before quitting, so I wouldn't say that I was that young into it. I just don't see the point of it when already dealing with AP, upgrade mats, event grinds, etc. Just a fair bit of a nuisance, overall. Lastly, yeah, gacha sucks. However, I've never quit a mobage because of its gacha system, myself.

Do you know how much it costs to upgrade skills? I am D1 player and at 2nd year I already busted up my saving from max QP down to 3M, We have lottery event so I can manage. Technically speaking, it's either you are only raising bronze to silver servant or you just don't get much golden servants... Other than that, I really don't think I can speak much without knowing your details. About repeating, other than RNG based run for Challenge quest, I don't think you will take that much tries... I mean, if there is a youtuber that already done the challenge with friendly set up, you can just copy them and adjust is based on your list. It costs mainly 5 AP per run anyway. My bad for assuming things though.

I meant QP being "unnecessary" as in I did not like how it's an ever-present bottleneck for basically everything to do with upgrading servants. From merely leveling, to skill upgrades, Grailing, and more, it's just so annoying to have to refarm QP so often for so many things. Even worse so for gold servants (I would know, as I had a Lv.100 10/10/10 Tomoe, and Jack with Lv.100 10/6/6, among other things). Hope that makes it much clearer, I apologize. About BB, I cannot speak much on her because I never got to the point in S.E.R.A.P.H. where I was able to get her. That event was an awful grind and quite the difficulty spike in terms of even merely farming stuff just to proceed. Which sucked because it had a great story and boss battles, but the steps in-between those were draining and largely too much filler. But from what I *do* understand of BB's kit, her class already puts her in a very specific niche for combat, and the support side of her kit never felt worth enough to spend a slot on using her. Again, strictly my own opinions. That is fair, about the challenge run a TH-camr would gave to repeat until their successful run. Can't really speak much else on this topic because I had little to no drive to do challenge runs after a certain point.

At the time the game is new, the other mobile games feels much worse than that, even for NA where it is 2 years late. I played quite a lot of other mobile game, but I think FGO is stronger than the others due to how f2p friendly it is(thx not having pvp too or competition with other player). I am basically that person that once start rarely quits too, so that kinda helps me sticking with the game. I can say for sure that the game does not age well though, as time passes so are many gacha games. System is outdated right now, the challenge and story are outright busted, f2p friendly is almost at the end of sight, and farming becoming more hellish. JP server already gave free ssr ticks last 2 anniversary that helps a bit though, and I heard there are actually plan to upgrade the gacha system to actually have pity to compete with others (and they are planning pvp which I think sucks). Since it's like Oliver here says, only in JP things like this works. Still a strong entry though.
