Thank so very much that is my uncle Frank Vicari on sax,the memories I have of seeing Tom Waits and Frank together hearing this was so sweet again to my ears to hear Frank .I miss him
Raymond Vicari Hey Raymond, I can imagine you miss your uncle. What a wonderful sax player! Must have been wonderful to have seen them performing together, your uncle and Tom. Have a lovely live, Jac
greekdoghera Hi,I just now saw your post and yes Frank is missed he loved playing music it amazing to have been able to meet and hear the many N.Y.City Jazz musicians the best of times for me growing up in Jersey going to N.Y.C ,the clubs in the Village, the food, back when it really was the city that never sleeps.Oh and yes Tom Waits and the combo from New York City has left us allot of great live videos so I can see Frank playing his tenor sax while I remember those years when I was a young man.a long haired hippie merchant seaman loving life and just has turned out to be a beautiful life's journey retired now I'm just sitting back watching the wheels go round as John Lennon wrote in a song and by the way if you listen to the song" What ever gets you through the night"Frank Vicari is the guy on the sax. Hope your having a lovely life,Raymond
Raymond Vicari thanks Raymond, take care and enjoy watching the wheels go round, wonderful way of saying. I am gonna listen to the song 'What ever gets you through the night", for sure.
Un live meraviglioso registrato con mostri sacri del jazz mondiale. Qui Tom Waits raggiunge un'apice alto del suo livello musicale. Per me il suo disco più bello.
The saxophone playing on this gig is great! bass too. Tom wasn't as well known then as he is now...didn't even know he played in Germany then. Thanks for uploading!
Sinatra said, " scooby, do be, do be do" Waits says, "abA, dooba, do be, day, hey hey" It is Sausage and Eggs! Why? because Tom Waits for Nobody. Keep feeling my life with emotion Tom.....He who feels deepest wins.
Grazie Tom.
this is fabulous of course - as is the BBC 1979 never talk to strangers - and Raymond - loving your family connections and comments across both - onwards!

I saw Waits on this tour. Last date on the tour - The Electric Ballroom in Atlanta. Saw him before the show and got to shoot the jit with him. Told him he was my hero and he said, "Aw man, a hero ain't nothin' but a sandwich."

I totally agree, to a point. I wish there were more albums with the smooth voice used in Closing Time, and The Heart of Saturday Night, BUT, had he not done the Louis Armstrong thing, theres a helluva lot of great songs that wouldve never come to life. I have 9 Tom Waits CDs, and everyone of them have a character of their own...

Frank was great. The Elephant Beer Blues video was super cool.
That is awesome man, I have a soft spot for the sax on this album. Adds so much to the compositions, especially Grapefruit Moon! Be A Utiful!
Each time he comes up with a completely different version of his songs, mindblowing. High functionning, ridiculously efficient creative brain.
I love tom waits he reminds me of someone that I adore and miss. Cold out
The wonderful, sweet and tasteful sounds of Frank Vicari's saxophone gives a richness and texture that is vibrant and soothing. I love it.

I don't think I can 🥳
Invitation to the Blues straight to Eggs and Sausages...brilliant. Mr Tom Waits, who else.
That grasp and grittiness in Tom's voice is still unparalleled today.

Nothing like getting drunk with Tom and his band.
You're right, frniend. And nothing like getting drunk on Tom and his band.

It's these small number releases that I've missed over the years,
this is fantabulous Tom, at the height of his 70s soused hip-cat vibe - LOVE IT!

Grapefruit Moon --31:01. The best song in a great presentation!
When he was saying "what do you want me to play" i was shouting grapefruit moon! Unfortunately i was 44 years late 🤣
Perfect set list and he sounds amazing here

Coronavirus blues brought me here to rest a while
Midnight Lullaby simply transcends the album version...and turns it into a masterpiece...a whole new song.
sclogse1 I agree! It’s my all time fav and this version is melting my heart
Emotional Weather Report is one of the greatest tunes of all time.
I love this. Thank you for uploading, Rsboots.

Could someone remind me which artist has paint the picture ?
Edward Hopper, «Nighthawks,» 1942.
Anybody knows when is his next concert?
No.
One day he started singing like Louis Armstrong and it made him famous . Maybe his voice changed with time too .
Did someone tell "Scheiße" at the end? This actually means Shit in German. 😱
that honk cried a n angry scheiße at the end
hey donkey blues beer
20 something
Can't help wishing Tom hadn't got fixated on the Louis Armstrong thing, distorting a pleasant tenor voice with a manufactured, throaty growl . . .
His use of his sound opened a door for him. The bluesy approach gave him a way to find more depth.
