'Sup everyone, Zach from Mintable reached out and wanted to clear up a few things that I hadn't got entirely right. Here's his message which hopefully makes it a little clearer. (sorry Zach!)
Saw the Mintable video and gotta say - thank you! Awesome stuff.
You had a few technical errors in the video related to things like gasless minting and other situations. I'd like to help clear that up for you - if you'd like?
For example - gasless items do not 'live only on mintable' they are live on the blockchain as soon as you mint them without a transaction, and you never pay any gas fees at all.
You mentioned they only live on mintable, and that you''ll pay fees when they sell. Both of these are incorrect - no fees are ever paid by the creator of gasless items, and the items immediately are live on the blockchain and can be transferred or sold, can check ownerOf() and tokenURI(), etc.

Good video but left with a doubt, I leave it here, if you create an nft of a photo in opensea and upload the same photo in another place as a mintable, it would have 2 nft of the same photo, that is, 2 properties of the same photo. What is it worth? what is the exclusivity or real property if the 2s are nft numbered as 1, only in 2 platforms?

@@judgeworks3687 “may be a big copyright issue soon”, IT IS. Although they know each other & probably had the “ok” to use the photo...this is exactly the problem, well, (1 of many), if I took a photo that my friend actually gave me, cuz her camera is better than mine, and maybe she got a better shot than I could; we lose touch, but I love the photo; I decide I wanna make an NFT out of that pic & make money. Do I track her down, notify her, ask if She ever even wanted it shared, let alone exploited for money(for my benefit)...NO, the real world isn’t so polite anymore. This is scary shit and the need for policing images and copyright is here. This is just an example. As an established artist, who’s had my artwork stolen off my own website for a TV show (!) , the digital environment of rampant theft is outrageous. Normal copyright does not apply which is why nfts are revolutionary for good and bad reasons. There’s no ruling precedent for a court on a decentralized platform not owned or operated by any specific country so no, normal copyright is null and void. As the creator of the nft you are essentially the creator of the digital version that previously did not exist.

The only thing you've put immutably on the blockchain (from what i can see) is the id '839' and a URI to a mintable page to which they could change the content at any time. Not even a file fingerprint in sight - I feel like im missing a trick here.

So when we make a gas free NFT the creator pays the gas when it's sold or the buyer pays it?

my understanding, is that part of the sale price is taken by the platform to pay gas to mint it on the blockchain.

What if I want to mint an NFT, but make 10 or 20 copies of it to sell? Do you have to pay per copy?
