Your videos are captivating, and I really enjoy them... just in case you need motivation to keep doing what is clearly a lot of work. Love the bolt at the 11.00-minute mark.
I agree. A lot of my favorite channels have changed. I guess that happens over time. I’m glad Donald has been consistent and not changed the style of his content. I’m trying to do the same on my channel.
Enjoyed the chill vibe of this one. That stone wall and the hoodoos were beautiful. Another fascinating artifact, left right where it should be - always have appreciated your respect for the places you visit.
Spring is a little unpredictable , summer is very hot and dusty. Winter is just cold. But from south to north the country is just beautiful. Thanks for showcasing our beautiful state with all of its quirky qualities.
Just have to say - love your truck build. Everything on your rig looks like it belongs. I live in Eugene and see your truck from time to time and your content is very inspiring!
That was a good video Donald. I appreciate the unfiltered view you bring to us, the fact that everything doesn't always go as planned. I mean, you could have done some editing magic and told us the day didn't even happen... Thank you for bringing us along, i could feel the mud sticking to your boots when you came back to get that camera when you were slipping and sliding on that road. 😂
1. as always, absolutely gorgeous work! 2. in my thousand years on this plane I have read Sagebrush steppe in papers but until now have never heard it said out loud :-) High Desert it is.. 3. you do seem to have a connection to the elementals here in Idaho. 4. thank you for all you do..
Beautiful stuff. Amazing landscapes. Thanks. I'm telling you, you should either contribute to Oregon Field Guide or whatever the Idaho version is called, or be featured on there. Keep going!
One of the best things about the Topo Mesa is that "camp" can be anywhere you find some level ground, or even semi-level if you have some leveling blocks on board.
It may not have been "gripping" but our spazzy 14 week old Collie puppy sure enjoyed it. I caught him several times laying on the floor and looking up at the TV and watching your drone scenery shots. Got him on video once too.
I have family out that way, and was just out there poking around the mountains and lava flows this past summer. What an amazing landscape, and so very few people! It's definitely a place where high clearance and 4x4 is needed to get you around most of the landscape - my poor Camry managed to make it in to one trailhead after saying a big nope to every other trailhead I tried to reach. Even that one was well beyond the intended (or intelligent) use of that car, but I only had the one chance to get out there, and took it. Absolutely worth it. One of the most beautiful spots I've managed to visit with a vehicle, just me in my low slung sedan and a few folks in side by sides looking at me like I was nuts. They were probably right...
You touched a little bit on the Mordor area. Knew exactly where you where. We camped that night about 12 miles from that rock outcropping that you drove to. Looking forward to the next episode. George.
The rock formations are incredible there. We experienced Idaho mud once and it's not something you want to mess around with. Good decision to avoid it 👍. Can't wait to see what you find next!
In our area, the Tennessee Valley, TVA closed off access to most dams following 9/11 for security reasons. The few that had main roads crossing them are slowly being transitioned to separate roadways and bridges, away from the dams.
Absolutely! I've been taking a 12-minute nap every day for well over 10 years, a simple simple practice that has improved my quality of life tremendously.
Ya caught a coyote in the part you were talking about coming off the step from the far off rock formations (around 10:14-10:16 ) you can see him running from right to left in the brush. Sometimes the adventure is just getting to the next day.
Truck is looking good. With those tyres and the rear diff lock, pretty capable off road I would think. Dropping the tyres pressure may have provided more grip.
Have you been to the Glass House in Eastern Oregon? Not vandalized and interesting story about builder. Almost as strange as Mary hill Mansion in Washington State.
Looks like its cooler and wetter up there than here on the beach in Central California! Actually, the last time I drove up that way, ( 2021 late Sept) it had rained hard the morning before I got there. Late afternoon, sunny, but the ground was soaked/standing water.
Hoping that your group event goes well! Wish that I could have made it but we have reservations to camp for a week down in southern Big Sur. The nicest site at Kirk Creek campground. It's like winning the lottery to get a site like that.
It wasn't all perfect but overall it was very nice. I'll post an update on Patreon soon and will certainly share a short video here on the channel as well. Hope you had a nice weekend down there!
At 10 minutes 16 seconds, it looks like an animal running through the sagebrush. Was it a coyote or am I just seeing things? Fantastic video as always, looking forward to more!

I don't think there's a hard and fast rule, but I believe items sitting there for over 50 years generally are considered to be artifacts. It IS weird that what was once litter eventually becomes considered part of the historical record of the place. 😄

Love your videos!! BTW I have the same year of Frontier I bought a couple of months ago. Unfortunately I had a bad rear dif due to it being in a snow environment most of it's life and has been at the dealership for a month due to a backordered part. My question is. Do you have the breather tube mod on yours? If so where did you buy it? I have all the service records since new and not one service visit caught the problem which is very bad in my opinion.

Agreed. 100%
At 10:20 looked like a jack a lope or an antelope running right to left in the sage. Actually a coyote after zooming in on it.
Yep, coyote, I was trying to get a better view but the sagebrush was just too tall.

Idaho's lava fields are expansive. Such awesome terrain with many tubes and caves to explore. Great episode Donald.

Most roads that cross dams, were closed after 9/11.
Dams are mostly closed now. This started after the 9/11 attacks and a broad review of vulnerable infrastructure.
