To me she is a blend of Dusty Springfield, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Karen Carpenter. I wish it was recorded pure analog, I heard a touch of digital processor, not needed. She really has a hot mic, seems to be holding back when it builds to the last chorus 2:35

Keeping the essence of a song intact and then making it your own and being so lovely is an extremely difficult task and then you nail it. No effects on you voice and only a touch of reverb, not any kind of fixing. It’s just you and that mic and 90% of that is your voice alone.
What I love about Rumer's voice is the abundant and obvious soft luscious side, mingled with a humble earnestness, and the last facet is a certain dusty weariness that hits me deep. She has an ache and a tiredness in her voice on certain notes that is where the strength in her voice is. Somehow, it speaks to my tired body after a day's work.
Glad to see Rumer kept it for the real musiclovers. No worldfame, big fast money, dodgy recordcompanys and ditto managers, PR crap etc. Only love for music and the people that listen to it!

I just discovered this woman after watching the White House performance and I am hooked. I love her gentle approach. I love the sweetness in her voice. I love the occasional added ghost note to the phrase. Not too many singers can get to me emotionally; Barbara, Karen, and now Rumer.
Bacharach's music contains such unusual harmonies, changes of tempo and key. I'm happy to have discovered Rumer and this album. (Yes her delivery and voice are reminescent of Karen Carpenter though without the brassy deep resonance that made Karen's voice unique)
