I'm American- my father (now deceased) was stationed during the Vietnam War era at Wheelus Air Force Base in Libya. From what he told me, even from simple personal observation, he always interpreted America's "support" for Israel to be half-hearted lip service, as the resources in north Africa were our main goal and, considering, an alliance with the Arab demographic was necessary. He and his airmen were ripping to go during the Six-Day War in support, but that's not "what they were there for". Not long after we wound up giving the base up to Gaddafi, who gave it to the Soviets. Our time there was a blunder, as was much of our time in the Middle East, all while we sit back and watch the only country which shares our value system get swallowed by terrorists we ourselves funded in order to "keep peace" for potential resources. I can guarantee the US knew.
My Mother is a disabled Marine Vietnam vet and my biological Father was a Marine who was stationed in Libya and then Lebanon. That little boy has been to the doctors about 4 or 5 times in one week. They've got him on an IV. They ran blood test and they did a chest x ray.
