This one was requested by Noelle Loh - I hope you like it, Noelle - I fell in love with it instantly upon first listening to it - Teresa Teng had such a magical voice!

I first heard this tune in a very busy Chinatown near Covent Garden London, 2 guys...I think called the bejing brothers....just the 2 of them started playing this and it was like a movie...the entire place just went silent around me...never heard anything like it....and then as it ended also like a movie the sound of life and the people just came back and everybody went on again as normal....never forgot that moment or this tune.
somehow I feel this music is even better played by piano than singing. so beautiful and touching. I come here now very often just to listen to it. thank you so much for it.

Gonna be honest. You are one of the best piano players I've heard. You have a way of making every song so beautiful and peaceful that I haven't seen anyone else do before and this song just proves this point even more. Keep up the good work. Growing up in Australia (hello from a fellow Australian) I wanted to take the opportunity to use a song that was representative of my chinese heritage despite being in a predominantly English speaking environment 🙂. Gorgeous improvisation of this beloved song! 🥰🥰🥰 It’s probably Teresa’s most famous song and covered by many artists over the years. It can be heard everywhere (tv, movie, films, radio, at yum cha…) in the Chinese community. And it goes without saying I’d love to buy the transcription of this arrangement when it’s ready.

I was moved to tears while I listened to this. Every note you played got me very emotional in a sentimental way. So much romance and love were expressed through your playing. This happens to be one of my all time favorite Mandarin Chinese song and I'm really so delighted to find out that you made a piano cover of this song. I love this song because of its touching and romantic lyrics. By the way, the reharmonization at the end was really cool. Thanks, Paul. After my message to you, I’ll go to check out the original by Teresa Teng. I have, as far as I know, never heard of her. Nevertheless this is really a wonderful piece of music and your performance is beautiful.
The late Teresa Teng is well known to Chinese people. I would conservatively say about 1.5 billion Chinese worldwide know about her and many millions love her singing, especially this song which is also well known. She was mainland China’s favourite singer in the eighties (even though she was from Taiwan) when China was opened up economically. It was a great loss when she died of a sudden asthma attack when she was about 44.
