  • Alex and Chris explore an Underground station closed to the public, West Ashfield, as they take you inside London Underground's training facility at Ashfield House. They also take a lesson in signalling with model trains in the Signalling School and get aboard the cab of an S stock train simulator.

Fantastic stuff there guys. I have known about this station. Simulator would be a great episode, I have driven a Bakerloo line train but on the PS4. Interestingly the sim on there has Wimbledon station platform signs with tube roundels where as the station in real life has SouthWesttrains platform signs. It looks like you both had a top man date, hope the ladies get well soon and we get the fab four back together again!

At 9:45 you mention the whirring noise, as the air is regenerated. The present Tyne and Wear Metro stock, due for replacement over the next two years, and the existing Merseyrail 507 and 508 units, also due for replacement soon, both make that noise as well!

I really enjoyed your visit to “West Ashfield” and showing the “Train Room” but one little omission that was a disappointment. The disappointment not seeing the station at the “far end” of the layout. I’m old enough to remember the “extension of the Central line” and the ominous discovery there. I will leave it there. What is the name of that station (yes I do know it). The sound of the air compressors on the 1923 Standard to was wonderful (travelled on class 485 just before they were replaced by the 1938 stock class 483 RydeRail - Island Line Isle of Wight. I’m now a member of the LTM Friends. Best wishes to All.

Great episode. Not entirely sure if that is a training centre or the world's best toy shop 😊 I seem to remember seeing a similar but older main-line signalling training layout in the NRM in York. I guess as more of the Underground moves to automated trains, colour light signalling will disappear from the system… a technology soon to become 'bygone'.

I wanted to know why don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so they extend the new abandoned underground stations.
Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into six cars per units and also having three Accessible Toilets on that six cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXC, Gardner 6LXB and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers?
A Stock Train and also having 8 DisaAccessiblelets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it bigger and extend it to bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Train tunnel into a High-Speed train?
The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Train line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those 4 European countries such as Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 37 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project that is OK for London Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden.
oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden Easily.
Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly line and also build a brand-new underground train station so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street and also make another brand new tunnel train station in Chingford and could they extend the DLR?
All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo TD102KF, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Six carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains.
Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and they can order Every 17 Octagon and Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique minor no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 117MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 117MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 16 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 16 Tonnes for all of the 117MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are Told!! And please do something about these very important Professional ideas Please Prime Minister of England, Prime Minister of Sweden, Prime Minister of Germany, Prime Minister of Italy, Prime Minister of Poland and that Includes the Mayor of London.

Extended Bodies for Most of the Buses
Much as I am not comfortable
asking the depot why they stopped running the London Suburban Loud
4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox Gardner 6LX and Gardner
    6LXC Diesel Engine Olympian ECW’s on routes 30, 121, 230, 271, 349, N279
And 158 why can’t we make the same make of the Loud 4-Speed Leyland
Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox Gardner 6LX and Gardner 6LXC Diesel
Engine Olympian ECW Buses but Modernise the insides of these Buses.
Also, make it low floor up and down and also extend the middle body part
of these vehicles a little bit more so there will be more space for the
wheelchair users. By the way, if you could remake and Modernise these
vehicles could they also make them into a Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra
cyclic Automatic Gearbox Gardner 6LX and Gardner 6LXC Diesel Engine
Olympian ECW Version’s that if it will be possible to Modernise the
insides of these Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox

those London Suburban Buse's Pale red on the top roof Pale red again on
the top middle Milk Chocolate brown on the middle Creamy white on the
Bottom Middle and Milk Chocolate Brown again on the Bottom on most of
those kinds of those Particular Double Decker Vehicles? Could you put
the Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox in the Scania
N230UD Enviro 400 MMCs and also put the Loud 3-Speed Voith Diwa Gearbox
in the Volvo TD102KF Engine East Lancs Olympus and also extend the
the middle body part of these vehicles a little bit more and also turn
most of them to London Suburban Buses. By the way, could you also make the
    routes 349, 121, N279 and 271 into a London Suburban Buses and have a
a mixture of a Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox
Scania N230UD Enviro 400 MMC and Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic
Gearbox Gardner 6LX and Gardner 6LXC Diesel Engine Olympian ECW
Versions. Could they also transfer the Arriva Bus Depots from Hackney to Stagecoach company so they can replace all the Arriva buses so that all of them can go to Birmingham and Leeds and they can be replaced by
Stagecoach Loud 3-Speed Voith Diwa Gearbox Volvo TD102KF Engine East
Lancs Olympus and also Extend the Middle body part of these Vehicles and that includes A Mixture of a Stagecoach Loud 3-Speed Voith Diwa Gearbox Volvo TD102KF, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 6LXCT Engine Northern Counties
Palatine One and that Includes a Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic
Automatic Gearbox Gardner 6LX Diesel engine Enviro 400 MMC’s and Loud
4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Automatic Gearbox Scania N230UD Enviro 400
MMC Vehicles A Little Bit More? Can Arriva London Bus Company Replace
Most of their Wight Buses so they can also transfer them to Birmingham
and Also Manchester so they can be replaced by Loud 3-Speed ZF Ecomat
Gearboxes Volvo D10A Engine East Lancs Olympus and also Extend the
The middle body part of these Vehicles A Little Bit More Thank You Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Much. Oh by the way could the bus Factory
Companies also Make More of Those Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic
Automatic Gearbox Gardner 6LX and Gardner 6LXC Diesel engine Olympian ECW Vehicles And that also includes Those Loud 4-Speed Leyland Hydra

Thank you for explaining about how the train stops work. This reminds me of something that used to happen more in the past than now, but I remember sometimes a train would start up (e.g. when leaving a station), then there would very soon be a sort of loud popping sound and the train would grind to a halt again. After that there would be a sort of noise like rapid knocking for a little while and it would start off again. Was this because the tripcock had been, er, tripped? It seems unlikely that all those times were SPADs, so I'm now wondering whether the train stop was sometimes a bit slow in moving out of position, meaning that a driver starting immediately the signal aspect turned to green might hit a train stop that still hadn't completely cleared. Just a guess! Can you clarify?

Please can I ask you guys another question?
I would like to know if a 1938 Tube Stock Driving Motor vehicle and a 1938 Tube Stock Trailer vehicle is shorter or the same length as a 1973 Tube Stock Driving Motor vehicle and 1973 Tube Stock Trailer vehicle. The reason why I asked this question is because I have often wondered if it would have been possible to run 1973 Tube Stock trains on the Isle of Wight Island Line as sets of three cars - DM - T - DM. The 1973 Tube Stock has excellent provision for luggage, which explains my reasoning and thinking. However I am not sure if they are too long for the curves in the Ryde Tunnel. My uncle believes that the 1973 Tube Stock trains are longer than the 1938 Tube Stock trains and would not make the sharp curves in Ryde Tunnel.
Best wishes and take care. Kind regards, Peter Skuce, St Albans. Hertfordshire.

    • @malcolmdobell3405
      @malcolmdobell3405 2 ปีที่แล้ว

1973 tube stock cars are longer than the 1938 tube stock but are about the same length as the ex-D stock cars that have formed the class 484 fleet. I am confident 1973 tube stock would have fitted the Isle of Wight. Why weren't they used? Simply because they were not available as all were needed on the Piccadilly line.
