    I’m all about saving time.. I would swap those chips

    I'd probe to see if the signal is the same coming out of the suzy, if it isn't I'd test the ram. Try to see where the signal changes in order to see which chip down the line should be replaced

    • @RetroSix
      @RetroSix  ปีที่แล้ว

      The signals are all linked and no broken traces as we tested that on last video. Didn't probe Suzy though

      @@RetroSix so I would say probe suzy next and from results determine whether or not to swap her next

    Hot swap all the way but I am not far enough to learn beforehand if they are broken

    @RetroSix, I've had a malfunctioning Lynx II for quite some time. Black screen upon powering up, a ring of discolored pixels in the bottom left of the screen. Went thru your troubleshooting guide over on the Wiki, getting 4.6v from + battery to the metal shield (using 5.3v from a USB cable). Here's where it gets odd: You list the various Hayato revisions (which i suspect is the culprit), yet you don't have my particular one listed: a 2EL. Google doesn't return any results for a 2EL Hayato. Thoughts?

      If it says VSLI then it's a Mikey, otherwise it's a Hayato

    The ROM cart data bus input is shared with the joypad and buttons input on Suzy. So how can a game load if you power up the console with a button held down?

    • @RetroSix
      @RetroSix  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Without probing to confirm I'd say the button presses pull high and the ROM pulls low then when Suzy wants ROM data it pulls high by default so button presses do nothing and ROM can pull low

      @@RetroSix I d got a theory now noticing those are series resistors. The ROM data bus is directly connected to Suzy, but buttons are connected through series 4.7k resistors. If the ROM pulls a data lit low, I don’t B think B the button can pull high in opposition through the resistor.

    As the program is running and this uses the 2 ram ic’s these must be ok. Suzy is responsible for graphics and io so my best guess would be that this ic is faulty.

    • @RetroSix
      @RetroSix  ปีที่แล้ว

      Part of the RAM can be bad and if video data is sorted in a fixed part that's corrupt it could be. But unlikely
