Hello again, I hope your week is off to a wonderful start. Today I'm going to share some of our adventures during our day exploring Venice the other week and how I tried to transform those experiences into my travel journal. In this entry in my travel journal, I do a lot more college than I have before and keep going with my watercolors. The entry took a little while to come together and I think that is what I love so much about travel journaling or art journaling - the fact that even if at the beginning you might not love how things are going, you can just keep layering, adding more elements, and over time it begins to reflect what you were hoping for :)
Have any of you started travel journaling recently? Or scrapbooking? It has been such a wonderful way to reflect and try out different creative ideas that I've been putting off for a long time. Lou and I are loving this series so much and reading your comments bring such a huge smile to my face. I've started making art journals and it's such a relaxing and creative way of capturing a place, mood, moment 💗 so relaxed after watching this vlog too!
I found it so jarring going from Venice to Rome. It set my anxiety off so much because it was busy and lots of cars etc. But then I got used to it.. it's amazing what an effect a place can have on you when there's no danger of roads and cars.. 💙💙💙

I've been wanting to start a travel journal and was inspired by what you are doing. My bf got me a handmade one from Pike Place and a photo printer, so Ive started from there. I am not as good with the 'art' part, but its a journey!

I love this so much. I had to pause the video at 1.17 min cuz you said you were staying at a campsite with Lou just outside Venice. My parents and I did the same, and it would be very possible that it is the same campingsite. We could go by boat to Venice as well! It brings back a lot of memories

Lovely video, it brought back so many wonderful memories of my first visit to Venice last fall. I definitely want to go back someday and hope to sit beside a canal and do some painting like you did. It is such a magical place!

I know that bookshop! That's the libreria acqua alta (high water bookshop). It does get flooded when there's a particularly high tide (called acqua alta by venetians). This high tide usually happens in autumn and that's actually quite annoying 🙄
I have to say, Lou has an amazing wife! Not many women would be as open to van life as Dana is.

By far my MOST FAVOURITE VIDEO OF YOUR CHANNEL!!! So moving because of that shot in the beginning that Dana said was her most fav (mine too btw), how slowly u guys went through a city that soooo much to offer but u showed the simplicity of the city and how the corner of street can inspire u. I really wanna say that this video really inspired me in what i wanna show in my photography and art. So thanku Dana for inspiring this 17 year old in Belgium to pick er water colours and art supplies up and Lou for inspiring me too hopefully go to film school to be able to make videos like this and show the world the simplicity of life and every moment of it.(not saying that i only learn this craft in filmschool) sorry for the long comment but, this video really struck something inside of me :)

i love what you said about taking the time to engage slowly with a city - i’m vegetarian and i don’t drink so i’ve found similar hurdles in terms of connecting with places, but this video has reminded me that there are always other ways to feel a part of somewhere. so thank you. and thank you for the inspiration; after seeing this videos i want to start a travel journal this summer, and dana’s beautiful pages never cease to captivate me.

Beautiful journal entry! I now have Venice on my list of places I would love to see. We live on a large, coastal lake and it's amazing how much it has changed our lives. Living on water is more incredible than words can describe. It sounds like Venice is an even more special circumstance in that the canal system replaces any car traffic. Although we have very little, we do still have cars on the road outside of the lake. Thank you again for sharing this with us all!

Venice is always on my travel list! Last autumn just before the floods, I visited with a dear old friend for my first time there. I was lucky to have 10 days and that was not enough. How you captured the feeling of the city after only one day is enchanting. Very nicely done !

this is such a beautiful video honestly. I've been going thorugh a bit of a rough time right now in a minimum wage job just until the end of school but it always gets me through to watch your videos and think about all the travel im going to do, the burnt orange striped van I want to build. honestly thank you both so much for these videos. after my school is finished ill be going to switzerland to stay with my aunt for a while and i am soso exited, maybe ill make my own travel journal haha!!
