Ahhh finally I am getting to this topic/video in your beginner's class.
I use Duolingo to practice vocabulary. It's not really good for anything else (it taught me to say "sorry, ik ben een appel" and "De sinaasappel spreekt Niederlands"...) but yeah, it's good for vocabulary. Anyways, I got to the chapter with the adjectives and it told me, if I used the wrong form, but it never told me, why. So, now that I'm finally at this point of your course I have an understandable explanation. It's so important to me to understand, WHY something is wrong in order to get it right the next time. Dank je wel!!!!
Same here! Duolingo would not tell me the rules about putting an e on an adjective, it just kept telling me I was wrong 😢

@@learndutchwithkim We all need advice how to start speaking. We learned heel veel gramatics, maar kunnen niet spreken beginnen.(not in Nederlands en geen Nederlandse mennen)
Natives of no language speak slowly . They eat smoke chew sigh cough etc. as hey speak making life even harder. You have to know what the person is likely to be speaking ahead of time The real way to master any exotic language is to become a MIND READER

Bedankt Kim, eigenlijk de grammatica here vind ik heel makkelijk zijn te begrijpen maar zij zijn echt moeilijk om te gebruiken.
Bijzonder moet ik weet het meeste woorden welke zijn met De,Het.
Ja dat is ook heel moeilijk! Het is heel goed dat je de grammatica begrijpt en nu moet je veel oefenen met spreken, en ook veel lezen en tv kijken zodat je ziet welk lidwoord elk zelfstandig naamwoord heeft. Succes!

I have a question about adjective.
If i say: Zack the merchant went to the market. Is the word merchant an adjective in this sentence? I think it is because it describe Zack. Or am i understanding it wrong?

Ik zei; “het kleine meisje” en “het mooie meisje” versus “een klein meisje” en “een mooi meisje”. Het-words that are definite take E, and when the het-word is indefinite (when it says “een” or doesn’t have an article) it’s without E

Woon al 40 jaar als Nederlandse in Australië. Nooit geweten dat onze taal zo gecompliceerd is. Maar dan Engels… one house… two houses. Waarom dan ook niet: one mouse… two mouses?..
Ik vind het woord “mens” een interessante uitzondering. Mens is officieel een de-woord, maar volgens de Van Daele wordt het soms gebruikt als een het-woord als je medelijden of minachting uitdrukt, met name bij vrouwen.
Dat zal wel, maar je zegt nooit “Zij is een verstandige mens” of “Hij is een goede mens”. Je zegt wel “Zij is een verstandig mens” of “Hij is een goed mens”. Ik zie daar geen medelijden of minachting in, en het is bij vrouwen en mannen.
Misschien moet je vergelijken met: 1) de koe (v), de stier (m), het rund (beide geslachten) of 2) de merrie (v), de hengst (m), het paard (beide), of 3) de dochter (v), de zoon (m), het kind (beide). Voor mij voelt mens vaak als een het-woord.
