Another couple of great songs that take place around the same time. "Going through changes" is another song about his struggles at that time after losing his best friend. And the song 'You're never over" is a great tribute to his best friend Proof.

Castle and Arose are such beautiful and emotional songs and I appreciate you reacting to them. The happy ending to this story is that Eminem has been sober for 15 years now!!! Also the fact that since his recovery he has seen Hailie graduate from both high school and college, and now Hailie and her sister Alaina are engaged, and he will be there to witness it all ❤️

@@WhyAmIReacting so arose is based on when he overdosed in 2007, he almost died. Hes been sober for years now. He started drugs early on but it became an actual problem after his childhood friend dejaun (Proof) was murdered. There is a period in eminems history where he vanished for about 4 years.
He is one of the best lyricist ever in my opinion 😊

I’m a new subscriber, enjoying the Eminem reactions. I recently discovered Eminem during lockdown and ashamed to say I judged him before actually listening to his music properly. I would recommend some of his political songs like Mosh, white america, square dance. Also a good song is leaving heaven and untouchable. ❤
Don't feel ashamed ...we all have those moments where we judge without having all the information. You got past that judgment ... and actually looked into his music to see what kind of artist he is! 😁

So what is said to have caused him to get heavy into drugs was the death of his best friend proof. In 2004 in the music video for a song called "Toy soldiers" Eminem had Proof play a character that gets shot and killed . Two years later Proof was shot and killed in a similar way that he was in the video. Eminem believed that he was somewhat to blame because of the video. Kind of like he put that energy out into the universe and then his friend died.
After that he went into a drug spiral.
In this song you her him say 'doodie' which is what Eminem called Proof as a nickname.
If you want you can listen to Hailles song by eminem if you didn't already, it's amazing one for his daughter and also yes this is a true story hi almost died from an overdose but luckily survived, he was struggling a bit before but especially when is best friend Proof died(he got shot and killed) he was devastated to the point he couldn't sleep and was extremely sad ...
