    Did you measure the pot joint and the brass bush inside the side housing as if there is to much play it may cause the seals to leak

    • @WilliamMurfitt
      @WilliamMurfitt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't, but the unit didnt leak previously and now the play has been removed. I spoke to a few builders and nobody mentioned measuring this. I beleive new pot joints are being used on this vehicle so shouldn't be any wear on then

    Hey, didn’t you need to put the opposite end plate on in order to set the shims?

    Guessworks do a good quality set of parts to rebuild the diff. Did you not replace the pin and bearings while you had it apart?

  • @andrewhurst1472

    Thanks for the video. Are you sure that popping the angular contact bearings apart and back together like that does not damage them? I searched the www over an can’t find any confirmation that that would be ok, but also can’t find another way to get the diff apart. Also, can you share which back issue of Mini World magazine had the step by step on diff rebuild that you were using? Cheers!

    Fibre washer? Is there not something better?

    • @WilliamMurfitt
      @WilliamMurfitt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately not, even if you purchase a x pin diff the fiber washers are still used

      @@WilliamMurfitt I just took mine apart, no fibre washer on the crown wheel side! Putting in a Swiftune Quaife ATB, no more rebuilds!?
