Is this something you would require a commercial dive certification to do? And do you still enjoy doing it? I'm considering the dive industry, trying to learn as much as I can about it.
Yes, this job requires a Surface Supply Air dive certification. I've only been digging for a couple days and it's a lot of fun. Being on the bottom is like being in another world
Chris Owens Surface Supply Air Dive cert? Is that it? I was considering the DIT school in Seattle for diving. But I have been told for harvesting jobs it might be a waste of money (over $20k) to get the commercial license through DIT. I've heard its a good school, but, maybe over priced for what your getting.
Yeah, I believe it's a huge waste of money. I was thinking about going to the same school.. Look up "Hoodsport n' Dive". The commercial dive cert is 5 days long and will cost you about 3k up front. It's a lot of fun though, they're good people. The certification will land you any commercial harvest job like in the video
So over a year ago we made these comments. I'd like to check in and see if you are still enjoying the work? I got my commercial dive certs, and I've been working as a diver for the last year. I'd like to learn more about the geoduck diving, I was wondering what you could tell me about your experience?
@@DarthKraytofKansas if you’re still interested my cousin Rudy Madrigal uploads all our dive days and crab openers his channel is Rudy Madrigal
Its easy to catch geoduck if you have tool to use
I’ve been commercial diving for geoduck the last 12 years, not the easiest when there’s no product at 70 ft deep or any in the shallow water either and if the tide isn’t changing, drysuit is leaking, etc. But to a point, you’re right, there’s awesome days diving too

That's some nice current !! 🌊
