A few years ago I met Dweezil Zappa after a gig in London. When faced with what to ask him I panicked. Instead of asking him about any of the 60 albums worth of music his father recorded, I said "If they remake The Running Man, will you be in it?". He looked confused, smiled and said no.
@@sarahghav Gd to hear, how long you filming in Glasgow for??? read it is shut for 2 weeks though, or is that subject to change?? I'm in the Kent part of England 🙂
I've not been this excited for a film in a long time. Lets hope they don't mess it up. The original Running Man was dumb 1980s fun with alot to say. Hopefully this is more like the book in terms of realism.
To be fair, I’ve not read the book 📖 I did enjoy the 80s Arnie one for pure popcorn 🍿 movie! This one does seem more serious & probably more in line with the book 👍🏻 glad you enjoyed my video & thanks for watching.
Some big movies 🍿 have been made in the toon 🤣 every time I watch World War Z & see zombies running all around George Sq! 🤣 hope you enjoyed the video 👍🏻
I did thanks - nice to see that another 1980s remake being done and to see it being done there ! I remember the WWZ was made there - change the street signs and drive-in a load of US spec cars and there you go NYC, etc you got it !!!!

most big films are shot in the UK these days, either on location or at the studios, also British film directors like Edgar Wright like to shoot their movies in the UK, and of course there are tax incentives for making movies in the UK. Glasgow is a city that can very easily be dressed as a US location.... a few US style fire hydrants, some US traffic lights, and fill the streets with appropriate vehicles and your done, thats all it takes.
There are goverment tax breaks given to filmmakers to film in the UK, same as South Africa & Canada. There are no such tax breaks to film in the USA 🤯 The UK film industry is pretty big business (Many studios in Scotland & England) & there are many films shot there such as Deadpool & Wolverine. They film in Glasgow because the architecture & brickwork buildings are very similar to those that shaped NYC & can be dressed appropriately. Also Glasgow's grid system is based on grid systems found in the USA & Spain. World War Z, The Flash, Indiana Jones, The Batman, BatGirl & now The Running Man are all films that have shot in & around Glasgow pretending to be US cities
Years ago Glasgow City Council told Hollywood that they can film their movies here for free. It helps with tourism and stuff like that. Our streets have been changed into American streets a few times with American cars driving around, it's pretty cool. It costs thousands of dollars a day to film in LA or NY so they come here and do it for free. We are very accommodating.
Love those old Aston Martins! As for the film, you’d think they would’ve learned their lesson from the Total Recall abomination a few years ago. We don’t need to remake every Arnold movie.🤦🏻♂️
This film is based on the original Stephen King book...unlike the campy yet entertaining Arnold version which flagrantly deviated from the source material.
If you are referring to the 1987 classic then I have to tell you that you are wrong. That film still holds up well today and does convey a lot of the themes from the book.
a hope they're getting the ULEZ charge like the rest of us
lol
You need a post-apocalyptic hellhole without spending a penny? Glasgow's the place.
thanks for this 🙏🏻❤️
You're welcome 😊 glad you enjoyed it.
Well Glasgow nowadays does resemble some archaic dystopian nightmare tbh. 🫣

That’s me in the brown fluffy coat 😂
You all must have been freezing! 🤣 You guys did a great job 👍🏻 good luck for the rest of the production.
It wasn’t too bad haha! Thank you🙏🏽

You won’t beat the original, can already tell it will be mince

Oh nice one, looks a kinda future retro vibe. Glasgow is perfect for all of that
Yeah, think it’s supposed to be a dystopian type vibe. Thanks for watching 🙂👍🏻
Not the first time Glasgow has been used for film sets for American cities ….
Some big movies 🍿 have been made in the toon 🤣 every time I watch World War Z & see zombies running all around George Sq! 🤣 hope you enjoyed the video 👍🏻

Indiana Jones
I missed that one being filmed 😞
The Batman too.
Glasgow is Gotham.
Ooh, are those dowdy looking cars to the left Aston Martin Lagondas? Never seen one in real life. Must be worth a few quid.
I was walking past all this the other day, it's just next to my work building
Well the last 2 films shot in Glasgow hardly went down well with the cinema goers 🙈
7:11 Looks good already
5:45 I seen Vonny Moyes is still worming her way into things.
She's not allowed to walk through the toon?
Anyone know which street they’re using here ?
It was Bothwell St 👍🏻
@ Thanks 👍🏼
Proud that my city can host you on making your movies. You are always welcome.
Just excuse the drugs ans the trash

Is this anything to do with the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie of the same name
Yes. It’s the remake. More in line with the novel, I’m told 🙂
So that’s why you could see their breath, it was in Scotland not LA.
🤣 it was cold
Hope they keep it true to the book this time
Arnies version was awsome though, an ocasion where the film is better than the book
Is he playing Ben Richards?
Yes 🙂
@@scottishjourneys different version then 🫣
Yes he is
Looks awful
Omg whats KITT doing there??
Anouther remake we didnt want or ask for 🙄
Anyone know why they go to Glasgow is it cheaper than the states or something

No, Hollywood films are not free to film in Glasgow, but there are some incentives available to help with the process.
Yeah you can get a deep fried pizza or a Mars bar and then get a stabbing 😂
It’s gonna take more than make up and special effects to turn Glasgow into New York 😂
They've been filming movies now since World war Z with Brad Pitt back in 2011 in Glasgow Scotland must be a cheap deal

Aston Martin Lagonda for me .
2:28 I'll have the Esprit
Will Glasgow city council use the money there getting from this movie to fill in the pot holes or resurface the damn roads in Glasgow!!!!
Should be a really good movie .edgar Wright director...the running man. stephen king book adaption...close to book not the arnie film
that wig !
How much are the people of Glasgow getting for this..
All they are doing is ruining the memories of a great 80’s film just like remaking total recall
🔥🔥🔥
Big Show running the show 😉
Glasgow very similar to American cities with the grid system. Why not just film it in an American city though?
I think it’s a lot more expensive to film in America, so I’ve been told.
@ yeah it’s got to be down to money
Keeping it more in line with the book. Good director behind it.
A lot of standing about in filming no wonder they cost a fortune to make !
Yeah, a lot of standing about! It was cold 🥶 too 🤣 the cast & crew did a great job.
More standing around when they are actually filming too as you cant move or talk.
I just hope that the story follows the book, rather than the atrocity they made the first time.
That was good big Arnie was class lol
If you are referring to the 1987 classic then I have to tell you that you are wrong. That film still holds up well today and does convey a lot of the themes from the book.
Oh dear god another classic ruined. Glasgow most be poor letting Hollywood in.
Looks worse than the new joker film
