I was born in the 910's in Byzantium and this song was one of my favorites! Hearing it again really brings me back to my days in the hamlet listening to the dulcet tones of the organistrum, a large instrument with a guitar-shaped body and a long neck in which the keys were set (covering one diatonic octave). The organistrum had a single melody string and two drone strings, which ran over a common bridge, and a relatively small wheel. Due to its size, the organistrum was played by two people, one of whom turned the crank while the other pulled the keys upward. Pulling keys upward is cumbersome, so only slow tunes could be played on the organistrum. Thank you 100 gecs for making my childhood rock!

I couldn't get into this band at first because the most Gecs I'd ever seen in one place is like 5 MAYBE 6, definitely no more than 8. So it felt like ridiculous to say there'd ever be 100 together. But after listening to this on vinyl, I realized it's not about the amount of Gecs, but the overall quality of each Gec. And these two have the stuff.
They essentially carry 50 gecs each, which puts them in what I believe to be the top 0.1 percentile of gec quality per capita.

I was born in a small village in Uzbekistan and when I first heard this song in 2004 it was a pivotal moment in my life. As soon as I put the cd into my walkman and felt the pulsating yoinks and boops through my headphones, i knew my life would never be the same. I was inspired to start a musical group with my fellow comrades. After much deliberation, we agreed on the name 100 Villagers. My friend Azamat was the only one in the village who had a computer, so we went to his house and downloaded FL studio and youtube to mp3 software. We began sampling every single skrillex yoink and wub we could find. I started saving up money from working at the vegetable stand and after 3 years we had enough to purchase Antares Autotune. This was obviously a game changer. We spent countless nights in the studio grinding and trying to make the dankest beats. There were many ups and downs over the years. Sometimes we would reach a state of total burnout, questioning if it was even worth it. "Will we ever reach success? Am I wasting my time?", i would frequently ask myself. But during those turbulent times of despair when I felt all hope was lost, i would look up at my framed portrait of DJ khaled above my bed and remembered that "we really are da best" and "i should make another one". This really gave me the hope and inspiration to continue on the path of greatness we were destined for. Now years later, after touring all around rural Uzbekistan, playing sold out shows and getting to play our music for at least 67 people, I can truly say it was all worth it. And all thanks to this song. Thank you 1000 geckos.

I remember when my late father introduced me to 100 gecs as a child. This song is special to me, as it was the only video I knew how to find on TH-cam. When my father passed, I insisted we played this at his funeral. It was one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking things I've ever experienced. Thank you 100 gecs.

Dylan and Laura are clearly super competent sound designers that somehow keep everything grounded in cultural/genre references.
The songwriting/melodies/harmonies are so good, that it's kind of an uncanny experience (especially on a sound system) to listen to.
It feels like they're resurrecting lost/disrespected genres of days past, pumping them full of psychedelics, and giving them back relevancy

Old Punk rocker here. I remember seeing Oprah live at CBGB’s. My arthritis makes it hard for me to slam dweebs in the pit but it’s nice seeing young people making music for other people to listen too in their free time.
