Of course you can always close individual legs of a trade - BUT, be sure you don't leave any SHORT legs open by themselves unless you really know what you are doing as you would have unlimited risk at that point.
When you adjust the date on the virtual slider why does it automatically add a third date on the graph, beside the expiration date you the date you choose
It is adding in a date that is 1/2 way between your selected date and expiration. Most traders like to see at least this one additional line showing decay. Many programs will allow you to show up to 4 additional decay lines.
the most difficult part is to determine the stock direction. if you know it for sure, then long or short is the best. based on the assumption, everything is by luck, this software does not help you
Adding the selections for Volatility increase/decrease and Theta decay tolerance would round this out

If i opened a broken wing butterfly could i close out the first two legs and let the final leg run if the stock is bombing in our downside direction
