My mother LOVES that line! 😂😂😂😂 Her reply is also funny to me when she says "Troy, you need to take your lazy ass leather wearing in the summertime, need to shave, stinky ass home!" I die laughing every time I watch! 😂😂
Firefighter: Well, ma'am you know you can only burn trash Bernadette: (flicks cigarette near firefighter) It is trash I love that scene because she didn't give not one frying fish about that stuff burning or what that firefighter had to say🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'll never forget my mother, aunt and I went to to see this in the theater when it came out and when Wesley Snipes came on at the end all the ladies in there started clapping and cheering including my mom 😂😂😂 I was in 5th or 6th grade and it was so funny to me. He did look good tho 🤷🏾♀️
The women at the dinner with their men weren't insecure about Savannah sitting with them; They'd clocked the type of woman she was, and given on her inner monologue, they weren't wrong. "I'm single and desperate and have no morals. And as soon as one of you turns your back, I'm gonna flirt my butt off... and then take your man." The women knew what was up.
A funny part in the book was when Savannah was listening to the radio and made a comment about Janet Jackson's singing. Savannah said that Janet couldn't sing. I wonder if they took it out of the script in the movie because it would've been Whitney saying that! lol
The fact that my mama took me with her to see this movie 🎥 when I was only 8 years old. Yeah us 90s kids 👧🏾 got to experience a lot of adult content and still stay in a child’s place. Well at least I did😂😂😂 Oan I love ❤️ the soundtrack till this day 💯
Soul Food and Boomerang were great soundtracks too. 70s soundtracks were great too - Shaft, Car Wash, Sparkle, Let's Do It Again, Mahogany, The Wiz, etc 80s Purple Rain, What's Love Got to Do With it, School Daze, The Last Dragon - you should add it to your list. It's a classic! Bruce Leroy vs Sho' Nuff.
I’m so glad you reviewed this!! It’s my go-to comfort movie. Reminds me of a good period in my life , spending a lot of time with my mom and her friends when I was a kid. Top tier soundtrack too.
Growing up it was TOUGH to get me to sit down and watch a movie BUT this one right here was different. I loved it immediately as a teen and as I've gotten older I appreciate it all the more because its is so sadly REAL to so many BW! This film was a whole mood from the actual film to the soundtrack! All the women are still beautiful to watch and relatable. WAITING TO EXHALE IS A CLASSIC!!! BTW, Ashley I agree about "Love Jones" I wanted to like it but it was so tough for me to watch back in the day...I doubt I would change my opinion about it. The cinematography was beautiful tho.
I love, love your commentary ❤ The laughs at the end🤣🤣🤣🤣 Girl you broke this movie down like an algebraic equation. I was blind, I missed all these hints.😂 Yes, the soundtrack was dope and the acting was phenomenal.
Ashley don't be making excuses for BM like John....it's too many of them walking around. People forget BW have also grown up in America yet aren't as 'gone' aka sipping the Kool-Aid as BM. Anti-Blackness is a choice!
I have the book and seen the movie 😂😂. It’s one of my go to movies. I read the book in a day. It’s so relatable in certain aspects😂but the sound track was absolutely top tier
I'm not sure about older movies but Kenya Moore was recently in a lifetime movie (about 2 weeks ago) she played a main role in it! Called "Abducted Off the Street"
I just love your retro movie reviews, you just crack me up. Have you ever reviewed Best Man Holiday? One of my favorites, I loved the series on Peacock too.
Classic movie and soundtrack. I agree with what you said about Michael Beach character. Ms Kenya Moore had more lines in Deliver us from Eva. Ashley did you ever listen to Love Jones soundtrack? I can't wait to watch Tyler Perry's Mea Culpa.
LMFAOOO THE WENDY INTERVIEW GOT ME SCREAMINGGG😂😂, I some we how Whitney feels up in heaven see how she’s doing down here on earth ik she feels bad for her cause she was def a girls girl at the end of the day, but I’m so glad you did my favorite movie 🩷🩷
Ashley, i agree with you about love jones. I still don't get the hype. No shade to anybody else. I just don't get it..i saw waiting to exhale when i was 15. I read the book first. When you read the book, it explains a lot more..also, they had to cut some scenes from the mivie, because it was already too long..this a goid movie that I'll watch everytime it's on tv and the soundtrack is still fire!!
You gotta read the book and the sequel "Getting To Happy". It really tied up everything from the first book. There would have been a second movie, but Whitney passed before it could start filming.
Savanna's mother gave me pick me vibes. And John was so cruel to Bernadine and it's like damn. What did she do to you?! He was so cruel to her and for no reason. *Update* you know what Miss Ashley, it's not until you talked about it and pointed out certain points. I think I have figured John out. He either thinks he's white, wants to be white, or there's a lot of self hatred there. I didn't get why Bernadine called him a Uncle Tom. But now I totally get it. He was cruel to her because he felt like in order for him to move up, he needed to dump the black woman and get a white woman on his arms. I get it now. Thank you Miss Ashley!
You aint picked up on the earring inconsistencies with Loretta Divine, where her man was telling her about him being gay? 😂 One moment she had them things in, next moment she didn't, and then again. Will always be one of my fav scenes 😂
I was 9 when this came out. I remember my mom and all my aunties going out to watch it together. She wouldn’t let me watch it but I snuck and read the book years later. She did let me listen to the soundtrack and I played that ish OUT lol daily. There were a lot of parts of the movie that I didn’t start to understand until I was in my 20’s but it’s one of my favorite black movies for the cast alone. And yes, Love Jones is overrated lol.
Michael Beech star in ‘Kingdom Business’ with Yolanda Adams and cheated on her and had a secret child played by Serayh 🤦🏽♀️ Michael/Snaps was trying to be Robin’s Eugene(Married to Medicine) 🫣🤭🫢 Do adult movies even have soundtracks anymore? I know kids movies do.
The soundtrack for this movie was insane! I still have it!
Me too, and Soul Food. 🔥 🔥🔥
Yes! It's so good
Whole album DOWNLOADED 😂😂
It’s timeless. Like out of this world. Bring back soundtracks!!!
Baby face did his biggest one for sure
😂😂 "you raggedy B, you better be careful who you pick up in grocery stores next time" 😂😂 lives rent free in my head
Mines too
😂😂😂
I was just telling my best friend this line 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
My mother LOVES that line! 😂😂😂😂
Her reply is also funny to me when she says "Troy, you need to take your lazy ass leather wearing in the summertime, need to shave, stinky ass home!" I die laughing every time I watch! 😂😂
Firefighter: Well, ma'am you know you can only burn trash
Bernadette: (flicks cigarette near firefighter) It is trash
I love that scene because she didn't give not one frying fish about that stuff burning or what that firefighter had to say🤣🤣🤣🤣
I still cry when Bernadine reads that letter from james 😅 the instrumental in the background still gets me
I'll never forget my mother, aunt and I went to to see this in the theater when it came out and when Wesley Snipes came on at the end all the ladies in there started clapping and cheering including my mom 😂😂😂 I was in 5th or 6th grade and it was so funny to me. He did look good tho 🤷🏾♀️
One of the best scenes in BAPS (a movie you recently reviewed) is when Halle jumps Leon: "I wanna EX-HALE, I wanna EXHALE" lmao!
😂😂😂😂
I met him last year during Essence Music Festival and I yelled LEON!!!! just as he gave me that smirk smile🤣🤣🤣🤣
LMFAOOOOO
Great movie, even better soundtrack. Babyface did this thing! My top soundtracks are Waiting to Exhale, Soul Food, The Bodyguard, and Preacher's Wife.
Lol, you're right about Kenya Moore. She had the same type of cameo role in Deliver Us From Eva.
A funny part in the book was when Savannah was listening to the radio and made a comment about Janet Jackson's singing. Savannah said that Janet couldn't sing. I wonder if they took it out of the script in the movie because it would've been Whitney saying that! lol

My mother took me also, same age, had no idea what was going on but I there. My favorite part was the ol dude screaming in all that leather.
Please do Soul Food next. And yesss Waiting to Exhale and Soul Food was my favorite soundtrack of all time.
Soul Food and Boomerang were great soundtracks too.
70s soundtracks were great too - Shaft, Car Wash, Sparkle, Let's Do It Again, Mahogany, The Wiz, etc
80s Purple Rain, What's Love Got to Do With it, School Daze, The Last Dragon - you should add it to your list. It's a classic! Bruce Leroy vs Sho' Nuff.
Yes to Boomerang!
Oh you ain’t playing! Come on Movie Corner.
I’m so glad you reviewed this!! It’s my go-to comfort movie. Reminds me of a good period in my life , spending a lot of time with my mom and her friends when I was a kid. Top tier soundtrack too.
Girl one of THE BEST soundtracks! The "Higher Learning" soundtrack was 🔥 too. My mama had both 😂
Phenomenal cast and movie overall. Great chemistry.
He's a good man Savanah 😂😂😂

Yes Love Jones is overrated. I didn't get the hype about a 1 night stand with spoken word
@@summerrain6125 I think the hype or appeal of that movie is based strictly on the aesthetics of Nia and Lorenz together!
@@RememberTheTime09 good point
I'm excited for this one! Love your Movie Corner videos
I love, love your commentary ❤ The laughs at the end🤣🤣🤣🤣 Girl you broke this movie down like an algebraic equation. I was blind, I missed all these hints.😂 Yes, the soundtrack was dope and the acting was phenomenal.
I love this movie. So many classic moments. I swear I watch Waiting To Exhale every couple months 😂
My favorite comfort movie
I only remember Kenya playing small roles in movies
Omgg Ashley I just got so happy seeing this,Thank you🫶🏽
Yes read the book and also read Waiting to Exhale 2…so disappointed they couldn’t make the 2nd book into a movie also!
Omg I didn't know it was a 2nd one. Going to look for it soon as I finish getting caught up on Ashley
Don’t get me wrong all the ladies were beautiful in this film, but it was something about Whitney tho… Whew 🥵🙌🏾🌈
Now I gotta watch the movie
Great Review Ashley 😊
I'm not sure about older movies but Kenya Moore was recently in a lifetime movie (about 2 weeks ago) she played a main role in it! Called "Abducted Off the Street"
So happy you did this!! 🤣🤣🤣 Love you girl.
When you started talking about the soundtrack I thought about the Babyface and Teddy Riley Verzsus rant/review 😂😂😂😂
I just rewatched this weekend I was 19 when this movie came out on deployment and loved this movie then and love it now
One more thing, the WW should have (In my Ashley Banks voice) "Mind ya business that's all, just mind your business!"😂✌🏾
Thank you Ashley ❤
What a treat. I look forward to Ashley movie corner❤❤
Kenya is leading a movie now on lifetime
Talking about the soundtracks of the 90’s, made me think of Boomerang, that’s another one I’d love for you to review.
I agree, Love Jones never did nothing for me, it was boring and drawn out.
I’ve never finished til this day and I’ve tried. It just seemed long, dark, and boring af.
I just love your retro movie reviews, you just crack me up. Have you ever reviewed Best Man Holiday? One of my favorites, I loved the series on Peacock too.

I 100% agree with you about the mature woman sexiness. Now that I'm 35, I'm trying to tap into that.
Lol I was right there in the movie theater with my mom and grandma and I had to close my eyes a lot lol. I was 8 at the time lol
Ashley, i agree with you about love jones. I still don't get the hype. No shade to anybody else. I just don't get it..i saw waiting to exhale when i was 15. I read the book first. Love it. Next movie is a challenge "Mama Flora's Family" ,The Family that Prays, and First Sunday.
Mama flora family is a good one
The Family That Preys...whew!!! Sanaa Lathan's character was a menace!!!
Mama Flora's Family was such an underrated GEM
Chile I haven't heard Bumping Skins in a long time 😅😅😅😅
This is one of my mama favorite! 🔥 Hey Ash, can you review “A Thin Line Between Love & Hate”? That’s my favorite classic of all time.
You gotta read the book and the sequel "Getting To Happy". It really tied up everything from the first book. There would have been a second movie, but Whitney passed before it could start filming.
Need to read book Getting to Happy about characters 15 years later.
I literally watched this last night 😊
Michael Beech also played a villian one season of the 100. He plays the worst people. 😂
I thought I was the only one who felt that way about Love Jones. I never got N2 that movie
Savanna's mother gave me pick me vibes. And John was so cruel to Bernadine and it's like damn. What did she do to you?! He was so cruel to her and for no reason.

Great review and super hilarious as usual. Can you please do Disappearing Acts?
Robin didn’t get pregnant by Russell twice lol the story she told Savannah was about a previous time in her life.
Whitney was a true beauty,
Kenya Moore is 8 years younger and somehow they looked the same age
I don't get the Love Jones hype either I was so underwhelmed
For me it’s the soundtrack only.
@@sheiszcat that's it
I think people just enjoyed the beauty of the cast, and the intense sexual chemistry throughout. That soundtrack was top tier 🤌🏾.
Same I don’t get it! Nia is beautiful and Larenz is good looking but that’s all I got… lol
Same. That movie loses me after the first couple minutes. I never could get into it
Another great review Ashley ❤
I heard the song and said I’ll watch tonight and you did a review ❤
You aint picked up on the earring inconsistencies with Loretta Divine, where her man was telling her about him being gay? 😂 One moment she had them things in, next moment she didn't, and then again. Will always be one of my fav scenes 😂
When you said "that's why you not gettin no PUSSAAAY!" 🤣🤣😅😁
I was 9 when this came out. I remember my mom and all my aunties going out to watch it together. She wouldn’t let me watch it but I snuck and read the book years later. She did let me listen to the soundtrack and I played that ish OUT lol daily. I’m screaming troy! There is no tony with Robin.
Troy aka Bubba was EPIC lmao!
SAAAAAAAMEEE. It took me a second cause I was like "Who was Tony?!" I 😂😂
I also know the soundtrack frontwards and backwards. Babyface created a true masterpiece
Love Jones is a good movie.
Yaaaas first to like and first comment yayyyy..go this on while at the office to help my morning
Kenya just played a lead role in a recent movie on Lifetime lol
LOVED “Disappearing Acts” but he was trash too lol!! I hated Franklin’s character!
Miss Ashley. Sorry, not trying to be that person but Tony was Troy in the movie. Sorry, I just heard it and I was like who??? Lol
11:47 bruh why do you talk so old 😂😂😂 I ain ever heard bumpin skins outside the 1930s
Ashley girl that movie was Sugar Hill! With the seizure. I love you ❤️
Michael Beech star in ‘Kingdom Business’ with Yolanda Adams and cheated on her and had a secret child played by Serayh 🤦🏽♀️
Michael/Snaps was trying to be Robin’s Eugene(Married to Medicine) 🫣🤭🫢
Do adult movies even have soundtracks anymore? I know kids movies do.
Did you notice Kenya Moore?
😂 never mind
I dont get the hype with Love Jones either
💜💜
Ashley can you pleeease do the movie ‘Spell’ with Loretta Devine next?? She’s super creepy in it. Great black horror movie 👏🏾
Girl 😂😂😂
And remember Michael Beach character also was horrible on hit the floor
hey Ashley
Troy not tony lol but yeah he was Not cool
Love jones is overrated
