This video is saving my life! Bleach and baking soda work like magic! It started working much faster than I thought! I just left them there for about an hour or two all black mould was able to be easily removed, and actually the mixture started to show its power immediately after spreading on the rubber seal. Thank you so much for sharing.
Yeah, I've done that for years and it still builds up. We have one of the oldest models from when they initially came out (ours is 14 years old) so maybe that's why.
I dry the door and the rubber round the door, then at the bottom of the rubber I dry it so no water left then I leave door open so it crys that really makes a very big difference no mould
Just want to say thank you for this video I did the bleach and bicarbonate mix wrapped in cling wrap left for just over 24 hours and it’s lifted the mould like a charm. It now has a couple spots here and there when it was completely full inside the rubber before so thank you again
I chose the duet of bleach and baking powder. They worked perfectly on my washer and it’s so simple and magical. I m very happy that the mold on my washer has gone 99%. Amazing!
This worked perfectly for me, the baking soda and bleach mix, left it overnight and all mould was totally removed. A bit hard to get it into the narrow folds of the gasket but I think if I did it again and concentrated on these areas, they'd be good.
The vinegar and baking soda mix won't do much because the two chemicals react with each other, that's why you see the fizz. If I remember correctly from chemistry class a few years back, I think that specific reaction makes carbon dioxide and water, so you're basically just spreading water and baking soda on that part.
Thanks for the video, yes please be careful combining chemical agents, stick to one only. Also wanted to say that these rubber gaskets need to be made in a way to avoid this issue. It's 2022, and yet the same design flaw and materials are placed in all front loaded washers! No one should be spending this much time cleaning a washing machine, it's absurd.
@@simonbutler377 that only goes so far. I left the door open and years later had mold embedded in the gasket. I had to spend hours bleaching it off. So, now I not only leave the door open, but towel dry the gasket and go back with a hair dryer to remove all moisture. And that keeps mold out.

Whoever invented front load washing machines was so wrong... I mean you just need to wash your clothes and now you struggle waaaay more thinking how to get rid of that mold in it. I have tried everything even leaving the door open nothing works. Besides those washers are more expensive. 🤨😰
Did you try anything on the inside of the gasket (you have to lift it up to get into the “cavern”)? That’s where my mildew grew. Outside of gasket is clean. I always leave door open after a wash, but sadly never bothered to dry out that hidden part.
Me too. I always carefully dried the rubber seal and left the door open but wondered why it smelled musty. When I got on my knees to look inside and pulled out the gasket I was shocked at the mould inside. My previous washer was never wiped over and I never had a problem.
IMHO, learn to replace the gasket and replace it yourself every few years. the gasket costs £15 for my machine and that's probably the same price as the cleaning products used here. Even if you want to clean the gasket, you would need to take it off the macine. stretch it out so it's unfolded and then bleach clean it. failing that - i've never done this. maybe the next best thing to do is put the entire gasket in a bleach bath for 12 hour.
Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) reacts with the other chemicals - compromising their effectiveness, and potentially resulting in unsafe reactions. I suggest you use all 4 chemicals by themselves. By the way, some claim the black residue is actually due to fat deposits from the liquid detergent.

You accidentally said mix the hydrogen peroxide and bleach instead of hydrogen peroxide and vinegar!!! Please correct this before someone who is listening to your video kills themselves!
I'm no scientist it's just something I read but I wouldn't mix vinegar and peroxide together either in the same container. You'll create a paracetic acid it's potentially corrosive.

this is not going to last long, there will be mold spores all over that thing and hiden away in the crevices you can't see. the lip where the gasket faces the drum will be black with mold and you can't see it or apply your mixture on it, the mold will just send spores back into the area you just cleaned and spread all over again.
The best solution is to buy a new gasket and fit it, it's not that hard to do for any competant DIYer. I recently replaced a gasket, after I tried to clean mould off a gasket and failed. When I took it out, I was shocked how many hidden crevices there were with mould. Also the metal rim were the gasket attached to was full of mold - but it just wiped off the metal.
So many ads for a 10 minute video. 🙄
what a piss poor design flaw!my mothers upright normal MAYTAG ran for 35 years without a single hiccup. We buy this samsung front loader and right off the get go this disgusting mold.I am so sick of the new generation/era messing around thinking they can improve. The REALITY and the truth to the matter is STOP TRYING TO FIX what isnt broke to begin with!
People you're washer has a self cleaning mode . Use that with bleach at the end of each day along with leaving the door a bit open to dry out . Had my front loader over a year and never seen mold.
I missed the most people don't want to risk taking the gasket out and putting it back. That's where all theold is growing underneath there. It's prob grown through the inside to the outside. Replace the gasket...! It's not that difficult.
You accidentally said mix the hydrogen peroxide and bleach instead of hydrogen peroxide and vinegar!!! Please correct this before someone who is listening to your video kills themselves!
Good Catch. To be SAFE, I removed all references to mixing both peroxide with bleach or peroxide with vinegar.
Also => Buy a new seal for like 30 bucks and replace your old disgusting one that probably has mold growing behind it
I would do that if it would only be $30. replacing mine would be $165
Bleach eats away at the rubber itself.
I'm no scientist it's just something I read but I wouldn't mix vinegar and peroxide together either in the same container. You'll create a paracetic acid it's potentially corrosive.
Thank you for your sharing!
Vinegar should never be used...
At some point your time has to have value...So if this takes me 5 hours(My time I value at $55 per hour) (and fairly hard work) and the cost of the solutions. I think it is cheaper to replace the rubber gasket.
Although modern HE washers can clean with cold water, the cost is often moldy gaskets. Run hot water every other wash.
Also do not let your daughter wash her Guinea pig fleece in your washer....😃
Clorox pen....
eww how could you let it get that bad ? ..i searched for this cos i have three tiny spots on the inside of rubber.
Not mine, my mothers place, she didn't know to let it air out for years.
Rude.
@@PoolarityChannel Mine looks like that because I have teenagers who do their own laundry and don't know any better
Very rude comment. Be grateful he is sharing his experiment.
dont bite the hand that feeds you!!!
Forbidden toothpaste
Dude it’s way less work changing out the seal. Just need simple tools. You get an F for efffort
More landfill 🙄
Make a swing out of it
@@amadorbimmen Not easy to change the seal and the rubber is not cheap.
