Great wee film. My grandpa was in the Black Watch in WW2. Under Montgomery in North Africa, Scicily and Italy. The only tale he ever told was of him and his buddies being ordered to shoot some German prisoners. They refused to do it and were all punished. I'm very proud of him. For everything, even the stuff he never told anyone.
Mine too, His name was Tommy Frayne and he was captured after crossing the River Sangro. Maybe my Gdad and yours new each other. He met many of his unit years later at an Italian Star function.
That was great! So many times I see people trying to do drama but they always do it under such unrealistic settings. For the simplicity of the story, it was so powerful and extremely moving. The story of having to execute a prisoner for practicality is usually only told with German soldiers executing prisoners in reality, it was universal and your film echoed that. Fantastic work, I hope you make more in the future!
People universally think that it was only the Germans who executed prisoners, the victor after all dictates the history, it was however reflected in Band of Brothers where a group of ordinary german soldiers were shot, and I think I’m right in saying that in the first 7 days of D Day…..any prisoners captured were executed due to the allies not having the resources,and the allies trying to gain ground rapidly……great film

It was shot on the Blackmagic URSA Mini with Cinema lenses, I can't remember the make of the lenses however... Hope this helps!
