For those wondering, you have to plug in a wah peddle backwards to get this effect. It doesn't work with all wah pedals, at least I had one that it didn't work with. VOX wahs should work to get this effect.
If your serious about this can bypass the buffer section in modern wha and it should work fine.. I also recommend adding an additional 3dpt switch (toggle would be best for space and ease) on your wha so you can quickly switch between backwards wiring and standred
@@benmahr Another cool thing I found out a while ago, well after I posted my comment; Roger Waters was using some sort of either coin or metal rod in his picking hand to create the weird swirling noise effects you hear. He probably had at least two tape delays, considering the time I'm pretty confident in assuming he was using Watkins Copicat tape delays.
@@dyangordon6151 I see no reason this wouldn't work but it would be a pain in the ass. I tried it with a Morley at first and it did not work, any older VOX should work, I don't know about new ones though. You just have to plug in the wah peddle backwards and fuck with the volume knob and it'll give the effect, so long as you are palm muting and playing according to the tabs.
@@benmahr Great job for not playing the guitar! I picked up a Crybaby wah pedal solely for this song, and it works perfectly. (Doubly nice now that I have the transcription too)
The little irish jingle Gilmour does at the 7:15 is clearly different from what the tab says. Honest mistake though since the tab matches up correctly with the album version, the live version is different. In the video it looks like Gilmour plays the riff on the 5th fret instead of the 9th but then reverts back to the 9th fret for the second part of the jingle
Thanks for this vid!!...I got a black strat with the maple kneck the same played by Dave in the vid !...squier is doing black ones the 2024 strats by squier are supposed to be the best yet with vintage tuners and tremolo and its a 70s headstock with the same stratocaster logo as Daves guitar in the video plus they have brilliant new tremolos that work realy well !
This transcriber missed the augmented fifth in that chord at the end of the verses. Something like 4xx554, or G#(5+). And the shape indicated for the C#m during the "chorus", x42120 is... well, funny. The transcriber for Echoes part 1 seemed more precise. Thanks, Ben Mahr.
Yeah probably, but i can’t influence that, as i‘m not playing the guitar or any other polyphonic instrument (ok drums, but that doesn’t count). But I see that the transcription is not perfect.
7:28 never paid attention to Gilmour's left hand against tab until now. He's down around the 7th fret for this passage, vs 10-14 in the tab. It's not that the tab sounds wrong, just curious what he's doing. I know they filmed some parts of the Pompeii movie later back at the studio, however I would think he's still ape the song accurately. EDIT: OK right before they cut away I do see him shift to... maybe 10th-11th position?

Thank for explaining that. I couldn’t because i don’t play the guitar.
For the effect on the Bass you need a tape delay pedal (or sth. simular).

Bro thank you so much!
Thank you so much
You should do the tabs for the songs in Wish You Were Here, would love to know the magic behind SOYCD parts 6-9
I‘ll do that. Calculate with 3-4 months, because at the moment I don’t have time. I will make a Tab Video for SOYCD Pt. I-IX (for guitar).
@@benmahr it’s all good, but hey. Do you have any cool tips or tricks for learning theory?

Yeah, that could happen sometimes. Which timecode?
When they're on chroma key, they're not really playing, they're just pretending
