- Hi all Rho here! Today we continue our week dedicated to the heroes of the Imperium! And today we discuss one of my favourite characters, Pedro Kantor. Chapter Master of the Crimson Fists.
General Spoiler Warning to begin as the events we are discussing today are from across the Warhammer 40,000 universe. So you have been warned! In particular for Pedro Kantor, there is actually a new Crimson Fists omnibus available on the Black Library website. I haven't read all of the included stories, but I can really highly recommend "Rynn's World" and "Pedro Kantor: The Vengeful Fist" by Steve Parker.

I have read quite a few 40k Space Marine novels, and I must say “Rynns World” is my favourite. In my opinion the best and most inspirational for a SM player. There is so much going on in that moment when Kantor saves that woman and her children. The author doesn’t even go into detail, but a good reader can see it… the parallels between her plight and his plight, and their world’s plight…. And it is in that moment when Kantor decides the direction of his leadership of his chapter. Oh it’s so good. I’m 46 and quite cynical, but I can’t read that part without getting a lump in my throat. It is so good. Worth a read for those who like true heroes.
Kantor has earned his place among the greats for sure.
Among us 😳😳
@Bully maguire STOP BULLYING ME MAGUIRE 😭😭
May favorite and first mini, kantor is exactly what it means to be a space marine. I hope to see more of him in the lore
Kantor was my intro to 40k. He's still one of the greats to me. In my mind at least he stands alongside Dante and Calgar.
My greates master, for my 90 figures of crimosn fists, for Kantor and for Dorn!
Wish you had delved deeper into his story, he's done some amazing things, not in book form but in short stories, for example, when he meets guilliman or when instead of going ham after receiving primaris, he spends years culturally integrating his new men to become crimson fist, rather than them just being primaris in CF colors or when there's a call to arms on vigilus and while everyone that shows up to help sorta does their own thing, pedro and his companies go straight to calgar and ask where he's needed most. Kantor is so humble after almost losing the chapter twice
Book for vigilus?
@@Justin33B Yeah, the campaign book that came out when vigilus was a thing. It's not a novel, there's fluff text in the first 20 pages of each part of the series.
@1:20 you are of the most humble content creators around for instead of suggesting your own read along video of this moment for your views, you instead recommend us to read the book for ourselves. You truly put your people before yourself; I commend your noble demeanor when it comes these matters, thank you.
I would say Kantor is the best embodiment of Dorn like how Tu'shan is the embodiment of Vulkan. However I can't day greatest son as Helbrecht is there. As far as loss I would say Dante has lost more as he has seen his chapter almost lost 4 times in the 1500 years of his service and twice under his leadership. Also dealing with the Thirst and Black Rage while living up to be the symbol of his father Sanguinius. But Kantor is probably second as he has suffered much and shown great leadership during his time.
*salutes to my Chapter Master*
My love for this character and Chapter dates back to my very first White Dwarf. Within the pages of Sept 08 the Tale of Four Gamers had just gotten into its second month and Neil Hodgson had chosen Space Marines with his Chapter of choice being the Crimson Fists.
That beautifully painted army display consisting of the Space Marines Battleforce and the then new Assault on Black Reach models had me hooked. I would eye up those models on a daily basis and I knew one day I'd start a collection of them.
I still fondly read that issue of White Dwarf as it was the start of my Warhammer journey and over the next 13 years I'd collect many armies, but the largest of then all was my old Crimson Fists collection, clocking in at nearly 200 models it contained a full company, multiple characters, tanks, flyers, elites units like Terminators and Sternguard and even Alexis Polux who I still have painted in the blue and red of his Chapter.
Sadly rough times cost me the army, but all was not lost. When Conquest magazine started I brought into it for my Death Guard but found myself reviving my Crimson Fists and forging a new army in Dorn's name.
Which brings me to 2022 and my 14th year in the hobby, I have this years Christmas Space Marines Battleforce and 2 sets of Fists upgrade kits ready and waiting for January and a new expansion to my army as well as a potential project to collect a modern day copy of Neil's final army as well as finally reading my Crimson Fists Omnibus that has been sat on my shelf for too many years.
I am and always will be, a Crimson Fist!!!
I love Kantor, Rynns world was one of the first warhammer novels i have ever read. It holds a special place. I love the fists and their successors
Makes one speculated that Kantor found his inner *stomp* *stomp*. Cant help but be proud af reading that scene each time…
My warhammer uncles.
WLR: The softer spoken, bed time story uncle. He loves the Big E and reminds you that you should too. Has our hearts.
MK: The Fun uncle. Doesnt take anything too seriously. Get your buzz on and pull up a chair.
Big L - Senior uncle. Like to read you the stories and do the voices. Great orator. Deep lore, has always been there.
Arch - uhhh, well. We all have that unlce too....
Pedro the Spaniard, very proud of him and his name haha
Rynns world was actually my first 40k novel i picked up some 12 years ago and let me say the crimson fists may be derpy and unlucky but goddamn pedro cantor and his buddy, the captain that just cant fucking die (cortez) were just some absolute beasts and that video just brought back some of that sweet nostalgia
The last stand artwork of the crimson fists holding the flag with the marines piled around them always captured my imagination.
Dude you said "Wolf Lord Rho" again. My week is complete.
I have'nt read the book in years, but the moment you mentioned the scene with the mother, the chills got right back to me.
Kantor is truely a hero of mankind.
Hope to see a Ultramarine soon, like Calgar, Sicarius or Ventris.
Ave Imperator, gloria in excelsis Terra.
Awesome story
Kantor's got my vote for warden of Imperium Sanctus.
I just want to see Pedro punching Orks skulls in with some amazing "Astartes" grade animation, every crunched skull he shouts a lost marines name. Would be epic
I was in the process of building a White Scars army, read Rynns World, couldn’t stop thinking about the Crimson Fists…and have weeks of pondering…swore my life to Dorn.
Elite tier novel, and true Grimdark
At least he’s learnt that the Crimson Fists shouldn’t buy their defence missiles from the centre shelf in Lidl or Aldi anymore!
Rho:"..., there are few chapter masters that had to suffer the lose of over half their chapter"
Me: * steals a glance at the Lementors
Wolf Lord, sounds great to hear those words said again.
The first space marines I ever seen were the crimson fists.
Samesies
The darker part of Kantor is that he secretly believes the Crimson Fists deserved their fate, that they should have been humbled, because of what they did to the Marines Vigilant. The Marines Vigilant were a brother Chapter who fought and destroyed a horrific xenos race in a war that was so traumatic it left the entire chapter in a walking vegatative state, unable or willing to take up arms against the enemies of the Imperium. And the Crimson Fists were sent to purge them, and went on an increasingly brutal and tragic assault, tearing down the Marine Vigilant fortress and executing brother Marines who did not have the cognitive ability to fight back. Pedro Kantor always felt they should have found a different way and tried to heal their brothers, but the Inquisition has spoken.
And in private Kantor believes what befell the Crimson Fists was the Emperor's judgement for their sins in the purging of the Marines Vigilant.
The scene with the mother and the Kids off I remember that part to well because my eyes teared the moment he did not abondon them
I've already read that novel, and after this video, I want to read it for the 20 time.
I start the crimson fist 10 years ago and their style is still fantastic.
I want to see Pedro and Tu'shan have a big fuzzy bro hug
Your videos on Kantor and his fists are why I made my first warhammer army crimson fists
Kantor is absolutely up amongst the greats of current era 40k characters. Less glorious in genesis as he's of a successor chapter and maybe not with the honor roll of a Dante or Calgar or Blackmane BUT for coming through, showing some humanity and remaining true to himself and his chapters legacy, an absolute legend nonetheless.
Merry Christmas to you and yours
WOAH nice I just posted my most recent art of pedro kantor. nice to see my rogue trader art on your video rho!
Pedro Kantor just show case to 2 things for me, that no matter what they say, do or even think/believe at end of the day space marine are still human AND that as much as everyone will say is a flaw in my book that flaw can push anyone to greater feats no matter if they are good or bad in the end. Just make me think of Lamenters and Salamanders and there impact how one can see Emperor angels of death in a different light. Those who remembers "Slaughterhouse III" will know how human can the space marine be and many many more. o7
HE SAID WOLF LORD! #Amen
He is one of the greats, that colour scheme and his story may just swing me to paint my minis up as crimson fists
Every ounce she has... a metaphor for the astartes fighting for humanity fleshed out. Not lost on Kantor.
Wolf lord rho is back
# Vote for Pedro
Love these guys
Kantor and Gabriel Seth I can relate too
I'm reading the Soul Drinkers novel and they just got into a fight with the Crimson Fist. Absolutely brutal.
GW may claim there are no good guys in 40K, but Pedro is the exception to the rule. He is genuinely a hero for the little guy. I don't know why they don't celebrate that. I also don't understand anyone who says the Salamanders are good. Don't they burn everything in their path including women and children if they have to? Pedro carries injured kids on his back through warzones where a Salamander would just BBQ them instead.
Best chapters in order are: Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Crimson Fist. Pedro is a true legend.
Wolf Lord status has been reclaimed!
👍👍 lol glad I wasn’t the only one to catch that!
Maybe Rho had his own leandros but has redeemed himself? Just guessing
As usual great job, would like to know your thought about Uriel Ventris as a character, the Ultramarine Omnibus was my first 40k novel, great Graham McNeills book series by the way
Damn good video today !!
Gabriel Angelos knows the difficulty of rebuilding a decimated chapter.
"KANTOR LIVES" Stomp Stomp
The legacy of Dorn is almost pathological stubbornness! The Crimson Fists occasionally become so monomaniac about a grievance that it can pretty much kill them - they just can't view their issue clearly and can make unwise decisions because of it. Kantor has to second-guess himself a lot to ensure he's not going down that path.
Vote for pedro
Vote For Pedro
That's when he became a hero for me to lol!!!+++
G’day mate bloody love the content. I just made an account so I can subscribe.
Been a space wolfs fan since the mid 90’s first models I ever got
The only thing that could possibly bring this guy's Chapter back to life is if some long-dead Primarch were to materialize suddenly in orbit with a couple of thousand brand new Space Marines to add to its ranks.
And how likely is it that something like THAT would ever happen?
Inebriated thought. Kantor is entombed with in a dreadnought and continues to be the chapter master as one. Itd be cool
Kayvaan shrike should be up there.
Kantor and Dante are the two best super humans, no contest
Yes, you called yourself the wolf lord again
This novel gives me similar vibes to a malazan book of the fallen series novels
Hard decisions… “laughs in Dante”….”belly-laughs in Grimaldis”…
Pedro is great. Im just being a troll abt Rho’s comment.
I wish he got a new model.
I love the small-ball, intimate, visceral nature of Alexus Pollux's chapter, which is seen in Pedro Kantor clearly.
He is one of my favorite under-appreciated 40k characters.
Nothing against Dorn but are we sure he's not a son of Vulcan or Sanguinius?
Do I smell Gabriel Seth coming?
You kept saying his chapter was ruined? It was only at half strength=500 marines, bro the flesh Tearers survived with 400 marines for centuries.
If you read Traitor Gorge it says that after Rynn's World and the relief forces arrived there were less than 100 crimson fists left
But wasn't it captain cortez that saved the woman and children from the orks torments all Pedro did was allow them to follow and then gave in to the humanity inside and carried her and the kids which is probably insane by most marines but just pure compassion tho the salamanders would be real proud of him and his choices
They had it easy. Try being a lamenter for a century and see which life they prefer
Vote for Pedro.
Did someone call my name?
If you don't get a serious case of the feels when he carries the mother you're a heretic.
As a crimson fists player... Half of us HATE Robute guilliman... I had a company of crimson Fists.. and told people I owned nearly an entire chapter. Just so that the primarch of the Ultramarines can extend the finishing line to 1000...
Now I'm a son a of the night haunter..
"Death to the false emperor"
Crimson Fists are so over looked. They need attention badly. New Pedro Kantor would be nice.
Cool? sure, awesome? absolutely, relatable? no, not in the slightest. No such thing as a relatable 40k character doubly so when talking about Space Marines.
10 mins of 0 content. Its a shame this guy could be really good but he pauses every 3 seconds when he talks. Makes it very hard to listen to....
Dorn and all his offspring are so boring 😴
