Didn’t expect to learn about the importance of torque and moment of inertia for fast turning block planes. The VS team really put a lot into the physics engine; it’s cool how the angular mechanics and all that are so fleshed out.
Somehow you eneded up in my reccomended despite me not playing Create Minecraft. Clicked on out of curiosity, stayed on for the chill vibes and physics stuffs.
Amazing tutorial, super great information about plane size and propeller shapes! I have a small, fast flying propeller plane with diesel motors I was able to improve to fit autocannons on now ^-^ I also moved the turning flaps from spanning the whole wing length to be wider towards the center, if that makes sense. I did not realise the flaps on a plane are called the elevators, to anyone who didnt know Edit: only flaps on the back of the plane are the elevators
quick wings class: * aileron: the parts on the main wing that make the aicraft roll left-right * flap: the parts on the main wing that help the aircraft stay in-air at lower speeds (it creates lift, assists on landing/take-offs) * elevator: the parts on the horizontal stabils. (always on the tail of the aircraft) to control the lift direction (the same as qarsan2 said, it pitchs the aircraft up/down) * rudder: the part/parts on the vertical stabils. (always on the tail too) to control the wind direction to yaw the aircraft left/right (NOT the same as aileron), depending on the aircraft can have only 1 or 2
you explain this better than many of the physics teachers i know. straight to the point, teaching us only what is necessary, and doing it well. good job man
this is awsome advice especially since me and some other people have been considering bringing back our old modded factions server while using this mod. We've been brainstorming how to make practical aircraft that would be usefull for a factions war. So far we got a multiroll fighter bomber, inspired by the F15e, you got 2 pilots, one main pilot flying and a second guy who does the weapons since you cant make a small cockpit with all the controls we need and keep it a single seater. The other one we got is a vtol aircraft thats sorta like an osprey, it also has 2 pilots but would have 2 extra crewmen manning the door guns. I love this mod
Useful, I am trying to figure out airships before trying to make a series, so fair I've just gotten it to take off but its leaning. looking at getting a hover like mod. working on it!
Its funny how I've never touched this mod, let alone minecraft beyond 1.12, but I've played so much KSP and other various flight simulators, that everything in here makes perfect sense, nice video.
Btw I've found that on the older versions of Clockwork with afterblazers aircraft usually roll and pitch back better when the COM is closer to the flaps' rotation points. What you're saying at around 3:00 applies with the Center of Pressure in real life rather than the Center of Mass, idk how to find this though so I think putting the COM further back usually suffices as a measure of maneuverability.
Loved the video @qarsan! Can't wait for the next video man! Has anyone ever built Aircraft from World War Two like the American Lockheed P-38 Lightning Fighter-Bomber or the Douglas A-20 Havoc Medium Bomber or the German Messerschmitt Bf-109E or the Junkers Ju-88A-4 Dive Bomber with Create Mod and Valkyrien Skies Mods? TNT Blocks from Fleshcrafter's Lucky TNT Mod might prove Interesting to use as Bombs as well. Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man!
So question about the center of mass. Every time I try to build a plane it always seems to be really nose-heavy. Does moving the center of mass closer to the front of the plane fix this problem? At first I thought the opposite would be true but now I'm second guessing.
@@qarsan2 That's the odd thing. The plane is still nose-heavy even when the center of mass was at about the center. Actually, maybe it's because of how I've arranged the landing gear. The front gear is closer to the center than the nose so maybe that's causing it to act as a sort of fulcrum? I think I'm going to need to do some more testing to see if that's the case.
ok, how the heck do you get clockwork to load properly on startup, Ive tried the alpha 1.18.2 version, to the newest version, I even have all the requirements downloaded, but it still doesnt load on startup, how do you fix this?
Nice video, really like how in depth you went, and your example models were very helpful. I do have one question though after trying to make my own plane. How can you make it so the plane flies level to the ground while in the air? On the plane I have made, the propeller is constantly lifting the plane towards the sky (almost like a helicopter) making it so that I need to constantly point the plane downward using the elevators.
Hi to everyone here! I didn’t know where to ask any of my questions because nobody on the official discord for clockwork/valkyrien skies was answering me, so this will have to do. For some reason, my physics infuser will not work. I can click it, and it does go into the animation, but once it’s over, the part that levitates out of the infuser just sits there and does nothing else. In addition, there is neither the blue glue stuff or the new replacement for it when I try to play. I have downloaded both the forge version and the manual setup from just downloading the files. Have a good day/night!
I suggest lowering the music and highering your mic. Your voice is really quiet and the music is really loud the more you put up the volume (So you can hear your voice) so consider lowering the music
never would i have thought that i'd see minecraft become a physically based flying simulator
Nice
Yeah same
Lol
I remember thinking I was a engineer making a redstone piston door as a kid.
Do a barrel roll is pretty neat aswell for flying simulation.

Fantastic video! Both to you and all the other devs who made this possible :)

Specifically, the flaps on the back of your plane are called elevators; since they make your plane go up and down.

finally a real guide, it beats everything i've seen. Keep the good work man💪💪
This mod is concerningly capable if you can use actual aerodynamics to explain it.
🤤competitive setting
Earned a new sub, qarsan! Didn't know you made TH-cam vids.
Oh dang, you can use floater blocks to have your plane take off from the ocean if you place and break a ship wheel. thats super cool
Some parts are hard to understand due to the volume of the music being too loud. 4:00 Thankfully it had subtitles
when I was editing, I had intended to go back and up my mic volume but I forgot. Sorry
Doesn’t tell me how to make a jet, but very helpful info I didn’t know I needed. Thanks
With this knowledge, i'm boutta liberate and bring freedom to all villages in the tri state area
Thanks. This video helped me start sketching digitally again. Just nice chill vibes. (Sketches are unrelated to Minecraft or planes)
Thanks for adding my plane! Ik it’s too big lol
They're really out here turning minecraft into Plane Crazy
As someone with a severe shredder addiction I approve of this comment
as someone who plays dcs alot i find this so fucking cool
i hope to see the minecraft aviation community grow!!
bro went smart mode
The Create mods mod-pack, paired with distant horizons, and some terrain generation mod and you've got *Minecraft 2*
minecraft is getting a bit close to reality with this one
Warthunder does sure look weird after the new update
This was really helpful, thanks a lot! I would love to see more similar tutorials!

Schematic? 🥺
please

A rocketry addon for create is in development and it’s basically ksp
Can we get a tutorial on how to build that fighter jet you made?

how to use ion thruster?

What is the difference between "wing" and "flap" blocks?
what mod did ou use to see the center of mass and stuff?
How do you see the Center of mass?
