  • Tegus and monitor lizards are very similar lizards! They both get pretty big, come with a variety of weapons to defend themselves with, and are very popular pets! But what makes a tegu a tegu and not a monitor lizard? Today I go over the similarities and differences between these two top predator lizards!

Great video. Really enjoyed how you included the caiman lizard with the tegus.

Preacher crock monitor is going to have a pretty forceful bite. Oh and by the way I wanted to let you know I am upset and madly in love with Norman!!!! For many many many years decades even I have had the pleasure of knowing and caring for 3 Savannah monitors. That I couldn't get any of them to live past 12 years. Not sure what life expectancy for the tegu is. But I have wanted one for many many many years. Maybe one day I hope

It’s unfortunate so many people get nile and savanna monitors and add to the reputation of monitors being impossible to work with. It’s part of why i plan to use a lace monitor in programs, to show that big monitors can be very friendly if worked with

I did watch that video, but why don't I tell you what I'm debating with. I'm debating on whether to put an add on to Tazzys 40 gallon tank. He's like 2½" and I'm adding a waterfall similar to my savannah monitor (Zenny). I get Tazzy out daily to play with. What kind of toys do they enjoy? I just want to make sure I'm spoiling him sweet (just like Zenny)

I would love to get a tegu but all the ones I find that are for sale are 500-700$. I've been looking for a good breeder but there aren't many up north
