Cheers dude, liked most of them, loved tracks 1 and 3 :) I just used track 3 on a quick vid, but i didnt really know how to do it, so may have messed up, but hey, at least i tried, right? :)
How I love that first track, top of the world!!! :D It sounded to me really evocative. I prefer those kinds of music that make me have MIXED feelings! Btw, how do you categorize the songs? Is it your personal opinion? I just thought a few tracks are not really uplifting. (if I understand the concept of uplifting correctly)
FINALLY I see someone questioning my decisions on including particular tracks in a comp! I really love discussing the themes and tracks fitting into them and would really like to hear more thoughts from you about this, in particular, which tracks do you think are not really uplifting. From my side of things, yeah, it's mostly always my personal opinion. For those particular "Emotional" comps, initially I picked the tracks only by "Emotional" attribute, then I was picking them by "more sad" or "more happy" attribute. And putting some theme name to a comp I always try to fit tracks as close to that theme, 'from the tracks that I have left' (!), which in this case was the last one of "Emotional" ones, and also overall I am running low on tracks that I want to feature (there is only 5 comps left that I have tracks for), so right now I don't really have as much flexibility with having more tracks to be able to make them fitting more to a comp. So, to summarize, I already featured most of the tracks I had, that's why I don't have a lot of options to put in tracks that perfectly fit the comp themes, in my opinion. Hope I explained it understandably. But regarding "Uplifting" of this comp, I can say that tracks #1,12,13 can be considered sad, which I actually was considering for previous "Sad" comps, but I really just couldn't include them into "Sad" because I still think they are more happy than sad. So, yeah, as I said, would really love to hear your thoughts about all that, and you may try to explain what you think doesn't fit here to your understanding of "Uplifting" concept. :D
TheShadowHQ Wow, this is unexpected for me. As I said before, I'm on the trip and was listening to your compilation on a train, but to answer your question in detail, it seems I need lots of time. (The question requires so much English writing that most of my classmates who don't like English would even cry XD) But I promise you that I will absolutely answer it as soon as I return to my home!
Hi, Shadow, I’m really sorry to answer the question this late. Before answering, I think I should first of all state that I used not to pay much attention to the tracks fitting to the themes. Since how one single song is perceived may well differ from person to person, in my opinion, we should to some extent be submissive to the producers’ thoughts when we listen to music on every media because s/he is the one who intended how the music should be felt. I therefore didn’t do kinda fuss about your classification until that day. This time, however, I thought maybe he made a mistake categorizing some tracks… and then, wanting to support your channel, I decided to mention it. But your words explained a lot. I understood why some tracks are not really fitting to the theme. As to your question, I had to reconsider what on earth my concept of uplifting for a while because it involves feelings and thus is quite subtle… Well, for me, uplifting is, like literally, something that makes me feel going upward, like from sadness towards happiness and “as a sound of the music” from low sound towards high sound. My point is, it should include not only happy attribute but also somewhat “sad” attribute when it comes to “Emotional uplifting” like this compilation because, let’s say, when I am super happy, the song only with happiness doesn’t sound uplifting to me. To sum up my thoughts, uplifting music should start from the low part and then gradually go to the high part. And it should not go downwards or regularly monotonous, right? Following this perspective, I think the tracks 2, 7, 8, 10, 11 are not really uplifting, but please don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying they are completely not uplifting, just not really uplifting. Hope this explanation was good enough for you to understand my concept of uplifting and the reasons why I thought some tracks are not fitting to the theme. Btw, I always enjoy your content (especially because watching epic BF4 moments and listing to music are my main hobbies on days off XD), so it’s colossal pleasure for me if this kind of discussion comment becomes part of your motivation. Thank you again for uploading these awesome compilations and allowing me to share my personal opinions!
I've probably never got such a long comment in my life! :D And I immensely appreciate every word you wrote here and all the time you took to do it! I see your point now, and I see that you actually consider 'uplifting' much more deep and special thing than I do. It was a bit hard to understand, but I think I got how you feel about it. What 'I' consider uplifting myself is basically the opposite of 'sad', the music that kinda makes you smile listening to it, or evoke the similar feelings. I somewhat differentiate it from 'happy'. In my understanding, 'happy' is like VERY uplifting, sometimes to the point when it may sound 'childish', but you can't argue that everyone has their own margins for those terms. To visualize it, consider like a scale where 'sad' is on the left, 'happy' is on the right, and there is a 'neutral' mark in the middle. 'Uplifting' for me is simply a thing somewhere in between 'neutral' and 'happy', and for me it's pretty much everything that defines it. But I still find it somewhat controversial for 'emotional' music, because sometimes one track can feel both happy (or uplifting) and sad, and, I guess, it varies from person to person what they consider it more. For this compilation, for how I perceive those tracks, they were scattered along that imaginary scale from around 1/4 to 3/4 of happy, if 0 is 'neutral' mark. There is some sadness in some of those tracks, but 'uplifting' part of them outweighs it, in my perception. Now that I explained my perspective, do you think my selection of tracks for this compilation makes more sense for you now? Anyway, It's so damn interesting to me to know how other people perceive the music! I always try to define my own taste in it, like "Why do I like specifically this and that?". Maybe such thing as 'taste' isn't supposed to be defined, but it's very interesting for me to try to anyway! :D That's why I was so interested in 'how different' people would consider my last 'Aggressive' compilation, as some tracks of it may (or may not) be quite opposite and different from what I usually prefer and upload! Again, can't tell how much I appreciate the dedication of yours to write all this, even after the delay when you could have lost the desire to still share your thoughts. And, dude, same colossal pleasure for me to discuss such things, and I am incredibly thankful to you for all of it!
