Good morning. Thank for you all these good guidance, it does provide some help. I do have to disagree on what you said about the mental health assessment, that is should be longer to find the root cause. That is not the place to get to the root cause. Usually, you have already been assessed or are already being seen before you got out. You don’t want a patient crying, having flashback, anxiety attack during the exam. That is why the exams are brief, from 5-15 min. I’ve been there three times now since retiring a year ago. You’re there to answer quick questions on how your mental health is affecting your day-to-day life, not to have another session where the facility isn’t equipped to handle. Yes, how it impacts your personal life, they have a barrage of questions that you either have or don’t have. Have you been into a mental health C&P exam? It’s very thorough even though short. Remember, it’s not a mental health session. It’s how it impacts your day to day life.
I am on individual unemployability. and SSDI disability. 5,081.00 a month for life and it is permanent. The VA denied me twice. They sexually assaulted me twice and screwed me for 20 years. My lawyer tore them apart and they back paid me 70 thousand dollars. I filled the winning claim in 2017 and it too them five years to give me everything. They told me it was in my imagination. Those words would come back to haunt them. I used that to show how bad my PTSD got. Those words it was in your imagination haunted me for 20 years. God is good though. I got it all and my beautiful wife Amy and my dependency pay lol.
I'm shocked that they gave a Black veteran back pay of $70k because most Black vets don't get hardly anything from the VA, but GRIEF, 20 times more hoops to jump through, and DENIALS! It's been that way in racist Amerikkka since Army Scout and Nurse Harriet Tubman applied for military pension after the Civil War ended in 1865. Congratulations my brother!
My c&p exam doctor today wasn't even ready and didn't even read my record... I had to tell him what page of my va medical record to look at and my situation.
I just found my original records from walter reed Medical center from when I was in service. 13 years fighting for benefits and now the proof is in my hands. I put it on usb and did a quick send to the VBA.
Nice breakdown I have a PTSD C&P exam currently 50% for PTSD and overall rating of 90% but things have gotten worse from back & Agent Orange and scars and nerve damage all related to Vietnam service connected injury! ✌✌ Then a C&P exam for 40% back and nerve damage which got worse Jan 2022 Sept 22 PTSD and Back Sept 27th 2022
I put in a claim last Monday. And was contacted by the VA to schedule my c&p last Thursday morning. Only 2 days to get my c&p scheduled. Does the quickness this happened signify anything, good or bad? Or was it just random?
@@joshua7999initial claim was denied. Still in hlr. I don't even care what happens with this claim anymore but I do believe the hlr will likely approve and rate the claim soon. Unless you have perfect documentation in service , expect to fight a year for a claim. The system is set up to benefit scammers who knew they wanted disability in service so went to sick call every week on purpose for documentation.
Hey I. Hope all is well. I have a question for you or anyone watching. I have 10 percent for Tinnitus and during my C&P exam the doctor told me that I was going to be awarded the 10% and additionally he told me to file for hearing loss because my hearing loss was substantial and that he was linking it to my incident on active duty. He further told me to file within the next 3 months so they will have to use the report he was preparing. So I filed for the hearing loss and they attempted to schedule me for another C&P exam through "Veterans evaluations services" . Its a private company the VA uses to do exams. I then I called the VA and they agreed with me that they will go off the first C&P exam. The term they used was to "Use original exam findings". But they they asked me to cancel the exam. I thought that was odd and they said it was because they would be able to cancel it in time and that if they didnt cancel it in time I wouldve had a no show on my record. So I went along and cancelled it. My question is - have you seen this before and does me cancelling it look bad for me?? I know Hearing loss is probably going to be a zero percentage, but since the C& P Doc told me to file i figured I had nothing to lose and I thought it wold be good to have the Hearing Loss service connected regardless of the percentage because I have Migraines and Anxiety ready to go as "Secondary" conditions to my service connected Tinnitus. Would love to know your thoughts. Oh , one more thing , My MOS was (BU) Builder in the Navy and thats on the DOD Presumption list for noise and hearing related conditions . Thank you. I appreciate you .
Thanks for the question, Johnny. It's hard to say for sure if canceling a C&P exam could negatively affect you and/or your benefits. Not showing up for a scheduled exam can delay your claim. If a veteran cancels an exam because the VA told them to, we fail to see how the VA could hold that against them.
Yes, thank you for the reply. I was able to check the next day to see if the VA and The company VES included the facts in the reason for cancelling. To my surprise and appreciation the events were included in my case and I’m confident it won’t affect my case either way. Thx
Along with my Service-connected Tinnitus I was also diagnosed with Severe migraines and Hyperacusis as directly related to my Tinnitus . I will be filing secondary claims for each as I have Nexus letters for both as well. Any advise for me ? Also on the VA form where it asks how to decriibe that your Migraines are connected to my Tinnitus. What should I write? Thank you ,.
You can have your own private doctor examine you and fill out a DBQ instead of a VA doctor. The VA accepts your doctor’s expertise and authorizes them to provide fair and reasonable evidence. But there is one potentially important factor to consider. The VA won’t reimburse you for any expenses related to the exam or completing the DBQ form if you go through your private doctor. Regardless of which type of doctor you see for your initial appointment, be sure to take copies of the DBQ forms you think you need with you to the appointment. Also, ensure that they complete the official DBQ form for your condition. A doctor’s patient notes aren’t enough for the VA to process your claim. Also, it’s a good idea for you to keep a copy of your DBQ so you have it on hand. In fact, always submit copies - not original documents- to the VA.
It appears the c and p exams attempt to deny your claim..For example I just received a notice for my third example for Leukemia which is on the presumptuous list of for numerous diseases....The first was a phone call for fifteen minutes...asking questions concerning my dieease. The next was with a Nurse Practioner we discussed my exposure overseas in the Philippines Clark Air Force Base contaminated water .I didn't have the evidence with me...I submitted my evidence to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and was called after two weeks and was asked too send any evidence on my water exposure....Also I was exposes too PFAS chemicals at McGuire AFB New Jersey my first military assignment...So exposure were McGuire and Clark AFB Philippines...I can't understand the third exam.

I’m a caregiver were Have a veteran who nervous about upcoming scheduled for C&P exam just don’t know what type of exam be done for this aid and attendance claim file anything I need to be aware of during this time
That's a great question. They can expect a lot of questions during a C&P exam. Depending on their health concern, it may involve a physical examination and other testing. If they're undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, they’ll ask about their personal history and current symptoms. They want to know about any mental health concerns that impact their daily life. Here is more information about how to prepare for a C&P exam: www.woodslawyers.com/cp-exam/?.com&CommentShare
If you want to see your C&P exam results, you must request a copy of the report. To do that, you can fill out a Privacy Act Request using VA Form 20-10206. You can submit the form by mail to the Department of Veterans Affairs Evidence Intake Center or take the completed form to your regional VA office.
The VA reevaluates veterans' service-connected disabilities between two and five years from the date of the decision to grant VA benefits. When this occurs, you will undergo a C&P exam.
Good question! If you want the VA to reevaluate your claim, you can file your increase request on VA.gov by filling out VA Form 21-526b. If you have medical information from a doctor, you must submit a VA Form 21-4142, which authorizes that doctor to share information with the VA.
