As a beginner who saw your video: thanks..! I was getting really frustrated trying to learn every new stitch that appeared to me without realizing that I could apply all things that I have already learnt into a project instead. It definitely will be way more exciting. :)
The tip about frogging is great. I’m trying to get into the “no effort is wasted” mindset and this really helps. Other than that your experience (and most others) as a beginner sounds totally different from mine, which is so great and interesting.
When I started crochet I was taught to make bennie with the complicated the V-cluster stitch, many other stiches and follow a pattern and counting row. I started the evening and I finished the bennie the next day, with the help of my mother in love who taught me... so it really depends on how you learn and who teaches you. If you learn alone, may be a stitch or two in the beginning will work but if someone teaches you, just follow their guidance and if they think you can make difficult stitch right up the start, don't limit yourself, just go for it and follow their guidance
Yes, this may be true in cases where you have a lot of time with someone who can crochet, and you can ask them for help :) thats amazing that your mother in law taught you, love it!
@@divynecrochet And the crazy part is I ran with it and I have made many jerseys, tops, blankets, bennies, scarves etc... taught a few of my friends to crochet and I am not stopping anytime soon. I love crochet! Enjoy and Happy Crochet!
This will depend on too many things to give an accurate answer, this will depend on hook and yarn size, how quickly you crochet, the design of the bag etc, but my general guess would be 3-8 hours depending
The only thing I wish I knew before learning how to crochet is how much it would make my wrist hurt 🥲 I would have found the perfect way to relax and decompress if only my wrist would allow me to 🥲
Yes, sadly I know this does sometimes happen. when you get more into crochet you do need to make sure you aren’t over working your wrists and take time to stretch and take breaks :)
The biggest thing for me with wrist pain was finding the right ergonomic hooks. I have carpal tunnel and crochet killed my hands with the regular metal hooks, but the ergonomic ones solved my issues alongside taking breaks!
@catnipwarrior yeah, taking brakes is the best advice. I wish my compulsive side was able to follow it 😂 I use ergonomic hooks but they didn't help as much as I wished

Yes! Plus ngl i think practicing the basics a lot means you learn a lot quicker later on :)

The only exception to the lifgter coloured yarn tip is… white yarn. Am I the known one who struggles to see white yarn as much as black yarn? 😅
about how long do you think it would take to make a laptop bag with double crochets?

Just picturing a crochet bookcase 😂❤
Ngl a hanging one could be cute! But probably not practical. I meant to say a book sleeve or cover (of course 😂😂)
