I'm 60 years old. My mother loved Mario Lanza and I listened to his music when I was a child in around 1960. I have no doubt that Italy will continue to produce such great singers.
    Thanks.

My childhood friend, PJ and I loved Mario Lanza. When I heard on the radio that he had died, 1959, I rushed over to PG's house and found him in tears. We both sat there in the dining room crying our eyes out. We were only 10 years of age !

I am very happy that you like this song that Mario sings. Truly he is an inspiration to all who listen to him sing. Also, Italian is such a lyrical language, I love when Mario sings in Italian.

    sugarbist,
I believe what Mario himself said that he always sang from his heart. You can tell when people sing or talk to you from theirs hearts. You can just feel it with your heart too. It is rare thing that few singers possess.
May God rest his soul, he is greatly missed.
    My Regards,
    Sandra

    Tara,
Italian is truly a beautiful language. My love of opera first brought me to appreciate Italian opera as a young teenager. Later on, it was fun to try speaking it on our trips to Italy. It is so much fun when they actually understand what we say. Italy: beautiful language, beautiful country, wonderful people, wonderful food.
    Viva Italia! Viva Mario sempre!
    Kind Regards,
    Sandra

I've always liked the tune, but never knew the meaning of the Neopolitan lyrics in English until recently. I understand some Italian from listening to Italian opera , but Neopolitan, although it sounds like Italian, is different.
May you have a very Happy Valentine's Day also.
Thank you again for your very kind comment. It is always good to hear from you.

      Isolvedit,
I assume that you are familiar with Mario's Italian background. Hence, his "nice Italian pronunciation, the magnificent feeling and passion, for this is the height of love and innocence". Hence, his genuine ability to demonstrate all of the above is understandable.
May you continue to enjoy my Mario Lanza videos and those of other of his up-loaders also.

MARIO'S OPEN ROMANTIC PERSONALITY EXUDES SINGING THIS LOVELY SONG. PERHAPS THE MOVIE MUSICAL, WAS THE BEST VENUE FOR HIS UNIQUE TALENT. LIVE OPERA IN THE EARLY 50'S WAS VERY RIDGED AND DEMANDED CERTAIN CONFORMITY OF STYLE IN PERFORMANCE. EVEN MANY TH-cam LISTENERS TODAY, FAULT HIM FOR LIBERTIES HE TAKES WITH SOME ARIAS. MARIO'S PERSONALITY PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN LOVED BY MOST IN LIVE OPERA AND CRITICS WOULD FIND FAULT IN HIS NON CONFORMITY.

    sugarbist,
We all owe our gracious thanks to Mario and the song's composer. Mario left us with an incredible legacy of his beautiful voice via his records, TV appearances and movies. As long we love listening to beautiful singing voices, Mario will live on in our hearts. I only try to add visual beauty to the beauty of his singing. That is my only contribution. May you continue to enjoy my Mario videos and those of other TH-cam up-loaders of Mario’s beautiful voice.
    My Kindest Regards

Hey Sandra! My first visit to you for this year! Surely one of the most tender, sensitive, and ravishingly beautiful performances of Mario`s essays into the Italian Song repertoire- or anything else, for that matter. I`m no authority on the pronounciation of the Neapolitan dialect but I`ve heard from some who are, that his pronounciation of this very specific form of the Italian language was very good... Thanks as ever for the upload; I hope 2013 smiles on you! Rodger

    Rodger,
Very good to hear from you, so glad you liked it.
I know that Mario's parents were Italian, but do you know if maybe they were from Naples? That may explain his wonderful Neopolitan accent?
Again, thank you for your comment, it is most appreciated.

Sandra, no; Mario`s maternal grandfather,Salvatore Lanza, was from the town of Tocco da Casauria in the Abruzzi region of central Italy. He migrated to America in 1902; his wife & Mario`s mother, Maria, who was then just 11 months, joined him the following year.
Mario`s father,Antonio Cocozza, migrated to America with his parents in 1905 when Antonio was 11 years old.The Cocozzas were from the small village of Filignano in the Molise region, bordering Campania, so no direct Neapolitan connection.

    iheart lysna,
I know how such things as a certain song title or a poet's name or photo's location can bother a person. I'm happy that the problem has been resolved. May you continue to enjoy the song, it is truly a lovely one.

    Wade,
I speak a little Italian, but usually find a good translation in English for the lyrics. Your brief summary of what the song is about, it is quite accurate.
You are very kind to think that the paintings might be mine. I am a signature artist with our local art club, and am a traditional artist. I prefer to paint American history subjects, the heroes of our wars, our presidents, etc. The names of the artists in my videos may all be found in each of the video description sections.

In Mario Lanza's own words.....more or less, " This song is about a young man who sees a girl with the most beautiful, luscious red lips. He follows her and asks her. can I just kiss those lips?"
This is such a simple but beautiful " Neapolitan Song "! The art work is beautiful as well! Could this be the art work of the owner of this channel? All the best, WJ :)

Yes, like has a little flower you have a little mouth a bit little bit withered.
Sì, comm' a nu sciorillo tu tiene na vucchella nu poco pocorillo appassuliatella.
Kmon, give me it, give me it, it is like has a rose give me it a little kiss, give me it, Cannetella! (girl's name)
Meh, dammillo, dammillo, è comm' a na rusella dammillo nu vasillo, dammillo, Cannetella!
Give me it, and take you it, a kiss very small, a kiss very small, like has this little mouth,
Dammillo e pigliatillo, nu vaso piccerillo, nu vaso piccerillo, comm' a chesta vucchella,
that seems like a little rose a bit little bit withered.

    • @MegaMusiclover1234
      @MegaMusiclover1234  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Vivace,
In English, you wrote, "The interpretation by M. Lanza sung in the film is much more beautiful because less bombastic and more consistent with the text that they give fun to write in "Neapolitan" on music by Tosti, does it seem like a bet!?" I'm afraid that my computer translator may not have translated your comment perfectly. I would appreciate any help, if the translation is not accurate.
I can tell that from what you write you are a true Mario Lanza fan.
      Kind Regards,
      Sandra

Cordiali saluti.
