Girlfriend was distraught because her belt snapped. I didn't even know what a serpentine belt was. With your video, I was able to get her back to work the very same day. Thank you so much
Great video! Belt ripped on me in half long wise. Replaced it watching this video. Happened again then replaced it. Car would die on me and battery would discharge. Came to find out I didn’t wrapped it around the alternator 😂. Changed two batteries, came back to this video and realized what I missed.
Bruh.
Dude
Thank you my man I have been struggling for days. I finally got it. Had to replace alternator, replace the fans, new belts. Boom all back to normal.
Can you say welcome to Volkswagen! lol Great video will replace my belt tonight.
Is there any downside to just changing the pulleys on the tensioners rather than replacing the whole unit? As I noticed you did that with the lower tensioner instead of buying the whole unit. My 2010 Golf 2.5 has a squealing tensioner and idler pulley.
Thank you very much for this video. I had to change belts on side of road and this was great. Keep making these
gotta do it on my mk5 beetle and there’s no videos on it. i know it’s the same motor but the space is SO tight in the beetle bonnet.
Question: I’m a total novice, this will be my second project of repairing my car by myself (with help from a slightly more experienced friend). In the video 2 belts are replaced. I thought the drive belt (serpentine belt) is one continuous belt running through the different components? Should I buy two belts to do this repair?
THANK YOU!!! Great content!
Nice one mate.
Awesome, well explained video Friend 🤝
Thank you!
Hope all is well with you & yours!
I just did my daughter car alternator the old belts look good . But now there squeeling. Alternator was a nightmare getting out putting back in was not fun
I need a low profile T40 for the large pulley.
Great vid
I’m about to purchase a 2009 Jetta SEL this week & I was confused on what a drive belt pulley is…. Is that the upper/lower idler?
what compressor are you using ?
Subbed
I can’t get to fit I’m using 5pk1065 on a 2010 Jetta I also seen people use a 5pk1062 help lol
So I would need 2 belts to fix this?
Yo you a fucking god bruh 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Are the belts the same size ?
No, the one on the bottom is shorter, two different part numbers.
I’ve tried this exact way and in the same order for the alternator belt but it would not slip on , and I had the tensioner maxed out, the only way I’ve been able to do it remove the pulley near the alternator and then reinstall it while slipping the belt on, it’s such a fucking pain in the dick these German cars
💙💙👏👏👏
I'm starting to think my belt is too short. Cannot for the life of me get it around the water pump no matter how far I move the tensioner. Its driving me nuts, you make it look easy! lol
Use hot water if thats the case.
@@TrojanLube69 that's not a bad idea. I ended up turning the crank pulley with a wrench while holding the tensioner with another wrench & that helped me get it on.
Yea man I just did mine and it took me forever. But I had to give up and take the top most pulley off, get the belt in place, and then tension it, hold it, and put the pulley back on! Worked like a charm!!!!!
Damn you make it look easy
The stock alternator belt from the store is longer than the one that snapped. I tried three different party stores and got the same problem, have you ever encountered this before?
Is there anyway you can turn the air compressor noise in the background louder? ....Probably not. Film seems decent, thanks for that.
Hands down bro great video!! Over all thanks !! (I own that same car and you solved my questions) thanks!!
Damn no manual
Does is state (at the end of the video) "GO PRO DIED DURING TEST DRIVE" ?
The serial number 5pk1060 is for? Alternator or compressor?
I can’t get the belt to go around
Great Video! Thanks!!!
10 star video! Perfect explanation, clear video, easy to understand. This is the best, thank you
Thanks bro
Great video man. What is the part number for the second (shorter) belt?
