Easiest Way to Catch Spring Smallmouth Bass

Imagine a smallmouth bass transitioning from its summer habitat and behaviours to its winter ones. As the season changes, they begin feeding heavily in preparation for winter and move to deeper waters. In the spring, this transition happens in reverse. They migrate to shallower waters in search of warmth and food. Having hardly eaten all winter, these fish are now starving and feed voraciously. During this time of year, it's hard to beat a minnow presentation that imitates smelt, cisco, alewife, and similar prey.
