peri means around basically taken from perimeter/periphery, so pericyclic mean around the cycle/ring or periphery of the ring.
D.E. reaction is enthalpy favourable bcoz pi bonds convert into sigma bonds and entropy prohibited bcoz no. of molecules decrease.
