- In today's Witcher Lore video I will be discussing the Blue Mountains. The Blue Mountains appear in the witcher 3, witcher 2, witcher 1 and witcher books, so today I hope to tell you all about this very important witcher location. Places like Kaer morhen (the witcher's keep), Loc Muinne, Ban ard and Dol Blathanna are located near or in these mountains. Elves and the Vran also made their homes in these mountains after being forced there, learn about all of this and more in today's witcher lore video!

Blue/gray mismatch is because of translation from Polish. in Polish there is a somewhat archaic word "siny" for a gray/blue color and that's what the mountains are usually called in books: Góry Sine. this word is usually referring to body color, somebody unnaturally pale, as in from sickness or hypothermia, may be called that, also a Polish word for bruise derives from this word. the Bluebeard from the French folk tale in Polish is called Sinobrody.
I live in Sydney Australia. We have a range called the blue mountains west of the city. Every time I’m up there I think of the Witcher.

The blue mountains is also a widely used name in the real world. I personaly know 3 places named after it in Europe, Australia and North America

The scars on his back he got in the witcher 2 he got wiped the small scar on his forehead he got from the cockatrice of spalla in the witcher 1 the big scar on his face the one on the left side of his face no one knows sorry that's all I know

Hmm, english translation of Blue Mountains is weird. In Polish is Góry Sine, more like Livid Mountains.

If you’ve ever been to the Smoky Mountains in the Appalachian range, you can imagine why the name Blue Mountains/Grey Mountains seem appropriate. The mist in the Smoky mountains can often seem like blue or grey smoke, especially in the early morning.

It's lore and my ideas of course but :
When I saw the map in your video I understood the geological type of the region : there is a compression from West to East and that created a subduction. For exemple, we have to find jade for the "rune writer" in HoS. A mineral specie who is created very deeply in a subduction geological context. In the framed map who shows everything on it, we can see a fault and submarine mountains, maybe it's the rift who push the part of the sea between itself and the Blue Mountains (B M above). Other mountains could be the "piémont" as we say in french of the mountain range exept for ones above the Kovir : they could be the beginning of the B M because of the presence of a pre-existent range or a old one created before the B M.
That mean one thing : the witcher's world is an active planet, there was an other continent there or "nearby" before the collision, the witcher's planet is circular and that involve there an ocean around the known continent and maybe an other !

Ho, I'm suddently remembering something, in your video about Dettlaff, you said his special ability is to transform himself into a monster, but Regis say when you meet him for the first time, Dettlaff's special ability is packing lesser vampires like wolves packs. And you can find some vampire's jewels in the cave of the Elder Unseen representating winged humanoids like Dettlaff

Have you done anything concerning the span of time between the second and third game? Like what happened to the Pontar valley? I saved saskia, where is Iorveth? What happened to Yennefer between the time Letho told Geralt where she was and when Geralt found her in White orchard? I mean did he go down to Nilfgaard first to look for her? Or did he go straight to Kaer Morhen after Loc Muinne?

Exploring the bottom vampire tier up to the next tier the one after that all up to the Higher Vampires!* Now you could explore estimates related to the number of Higher Vampires on the continent and their relationships to those beneath them.
Speculation on the dimension that the Higher Vampires come from and what kind of insane world it must be where these HV’s live their lives is crazy to imagine! Are they the top of the food chain in their realm, or is there another race more powerful and strong than the HV’s that keep their numbers in check? With so many different clans of HV’s that may be the case where they band together to strengthen their positions against what or who? Speculation on the true relationship between the HV’s and those that are lower down the totem pole…are they related to one another somehow beyond their thirst for blood? If so what is the true source of this crazy vampirism affliction? Is there a vampire god? So much to explore, and if put into another great vampire video by yourself then I am confident it will be explored in detail between the books and games! Please consider doing this!
I could see the Blue / Grey difference being due to snow (altitude or lat/longitude differences). More snow making them more grey etc.
Mountain ranges are called blue due to the haze when seen from a distance giving them a slight blue tint. Grey would be due to more exposed grey rock and lower humidity.

As a newcomer to the Witcher series (strangely enough the bestiary was what drew me to the game series but I couldn't enjoy Geralt as a character that often so it was just recently I decided to play them) I freaking love these videos that you do for lore about characters but also areas like the Blue Mountains. It’d be so cool if you stared a new series where you like read the books to us and stop each time you reach a term or topic that is worthy of making a video on. The next video is just picking up in the book where you left off and continue on until you reach another term or topic. You’d have unlimited available videos ideas, and we’d be able to see an in depth analysis of the lore from start to finish of the story.
How big do you guys think the continent is? Obviously it isn't the entire planet. I would assume that (if the planet is comparable in size to earth) the continent is itself comparable to Europe. Imagine if in further games you have a kind of pioneer storyline where expeditions across the mountains or over the ocean begin. Imagine the possibilities for newer monsters or political things.

When it comes wether the Grey or Blue mountains is correct name wellll neither, in Polish version it's "Góry Sine" and "Sine" is Word that english language Simply doesn't have. We can roughly translate it to Blue but it's greyish Blue (RGB HEX 8AA4B7)
dear witcher george some feedback: i realy like your videos but i get rather annoyed by the perpentual "ill make a full video about it later " look maybe go in to small things a little bit becouse i dont care if you give us more lore and hearing it twice , once more detailed and once a bit more basic, love your work tho
