A lot of people used to scoff at the idea of Rusty and Dale being friends. True, they had their difficulties on and off the track, but when it came down to it, they were always there for each other. Whether it be when Dale stopped to check the condition of his friend after he clipped Rusty at Talledega and sent him flipping. Or when Dale pushed Rusty on a caution to help him finish a fuel mileage race. I think their friendship/rivalry is one of the greatest stories in NASCAR history.
I met Rusty about 1 1/2 ago at a car show....he is a class act he took time to sign every autograph and he took the time to shake everyones hand and talk to them
Thank you Rusty! Dale Earnhardt Sr will always be our fave! My husband and I loved watching him race and cried when he passed. Thank you so much for honoring Dale Sr! Rest in peace Dale Earnhardt Sr and race for my Jerry and Sugar Bear in Heaven! Tx fan Gloria and Bear
Rusty was always my driver, and this was the last race I got to see before I headed off to basic training and he was able to win it. I still feel like Dales death took something away from Rustys competitive spirit, he only won 1 more race in his career after this one and he ran almost 4 more years. He did have 6 second places in 2002, and a few other races where he finished 2nd but he just couldn't put it together and win more than that last Martinsville race. He should have won that first race at Kansas in 2001 but got penalized late for a pit road speeding penalty after leading that race all day, he fought his way back to 4th after restarting 11th with only a handful of laps left though but I think his motivation that day was that it was close to his "hometown" track since he was from the mid-west.
rusty and dale were great friends outside the track but when it went racing hell broke loose between the two great rivalry blue deuce (2) vs man in black (3)
This is one of my most exciting days ever! Got to see my favorite driver win one of his last races ever. Was a pretty big deal as he wasn't the most dominate driver in those later years.
I drove my Dads truck with Thank you #3 posted on the entire tailgate to the track. You should have heard the horns honking throughout Southern California.
I met Rusty at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the 90's. A friend and I were walking around the track and Rusty passed us walking. He had his driver stop and back up to talk with us..I was in awe.talked about 5 minutes and he was so nice and CUTE❤
Rusty was my mom's all time favorite driver, she was upset when she found out that Rusty retired, I kept telling her, "he's now a commentator", she wouldn't budge watching NASCAR again, time after time again, I would leave the kitchen TV running with a NASCAR race on.
How come this race finish is not as talked about as Steve Park winning at Rockingham, Harvick's Atlanta victory, and Junior winning at Daytona in July?
Yep was truly sad. I was born in 97 so I didn't get to see rusty's prime, but he was my favorite driver. The last of an old school generation. And for a time in his prime arguably the best driver in nascar. His battles with dale and Gordon are what made nascar so popular in the 90s. The blue deuce will always be one of the best.

Yep they probably knew eachother more than most
Same with Gordon and Earnhardt too.
Real recognizes Real .

That was a great race! Rusty is my all time favorite driver. So happy he won!

Thanks Rusty. Class.
this race was ran on what would have been Dale Earnhardt's 50th birthday. it brought tears to my eyes to see that 3 flag in his hands.
my favorite nascar tribute, my favorite driver paying tribute to the man who lived in my hometown
Rusty is a class act, it's always been nice to see him win.
rusty and dale were great friends outside the track but when it went racing hell broke loose between the two

Racing was good back then
I tried to like this twice but had to do a 3 peice! Rusty was my guy for 20 years!🏁😺✌️
This is one of my most exciting days ever! Got to see my favorite driver win one of his last races ever. Was a pretty big deal as he wasn't the most dominate driver in those later years.
Thanks for the tribute Rusty
Rusty fan since I was a kid. I still think he left too soon, but I will always cherish the memories he gave us.
it was Dale Earnhardt birthday that days RIP Dale
Rusty Wallace's "Midnight" car was the most winning car in NASCAR history.
Rusty Wallace is my favorite NASCAR driver of all-time, thanks for the post..!!!
Robin (rusty wallace's crew chief) sounds just like Brad keslowski Agree?
A little bit
jamespic how ironic.
2001 was a crap year for me when it came to motoracing, Hakkinen retires and Earnhardt passes away, what a fantastic win and tribute.
Thank you Rusty! God welcomed Dale and #3 right into Heaven thru the pearly gates! Blessings to you!
so honorable of Rusty... thanx for the memories Rusty
my favorite nascar driver
Me too
Being a long time Dale fan it was a touching tribute.
RUSTY WALLACE RULES
beautiful car miss the blue duece scheme. Keselowksi's new paint schemes suck
Dale senior and rusty are best of friends. I’m glad rusty won and got to honor his best friend. I heard rusty retired because of the dale death.
Love when Rusty had the Earnhardt flag! Nice tribute!
what a classy guy, i miss him
@AMFForumvideo The spring Martinsville race in 2004. There's a clip of the finish to that race in the "related videos" section here.
Rusty Wallace was Badass
I drove my Dads truck with Thank you #3 posted on the entire tailgate to the track. You should have heard the horns honking throughout Southern California.
So awesome to see one of Dale's closest friends win on what whoulda been his 50th B-Day so neat to see him pay tribute
On this day, Somewhere amongst the heavens, The Man In Black grinned with satisfaction.
He held back the 24
what nascar once was and how it got that old school way died with Dale SR always r i p to that legend!!!!

My favorite driver of all time, Rusty was the man!
Those cars sound so awesome
I love his Tribute to Earnhardt #3.....the blue deuce got it done that day. Rusty!
Interestingly, Rusty and Jeff Gordon were tied in wins for a while, but Jeff did it in less time.
Yeah, and Jeff ended up with way way more.
With a multi car team dumbass do that math
Jeff had a multi car team numbnutz
@@josephbalachick1879 What the hell does that have to do with anything?
Gordon had a MULTI CAR TEAM
Total class
The double Duce, blue lighting, ole Miller car, best short race track racer, Rusty Fucking Wallace!
great tribute from a great driver.
its kinda odd seeing a full crowd at california lol
At 3:32 he's using both hands to hold the flag.
Yeah he said in an interview he was struggling to hold it up because it was a big flag flapping in the wind
wallace is a real great guy he also did the same thing for davey allison and alan kulwiki
Rusty was my mom's all time favorite driver, she was upset when she found out that Rusty retired, I kept telling her, "he's now a commentator", she wouldn't budge watching NASCAR again, time after time again, I would leave the kitchen TV running with a NASCAR race on.
Class 2 blue duce !
At least Rusty didn't get beer bombed for doing this...
@angelboy10able California Speedway. it's called Auto Club Speedway now
Great days make Rusty Wallace and this one of the most special in my opinion. One doubt: how many times win Rusty Wallace in Daytona?.
once....the bud shootout in the miller lite time machine in 2000.
1998
Rusty Wallace never did win the lottery.
Has anyone done a video in regards to driver tributes to Dale Sr.???
How come this race finish is not as talked about as Steve Park winning at Rockingham, Harvick's Atlanta victory, and Junior winning at Daytona in July?
I seriously doubt that, especially after seeing the way Steven raced this year.
ep i like all of the older drivers but manly a gordon jimmie fan
Great tribute
I bet he never thought hed do for Dale what they did for Davey and Alan.
Gordon ever do this?
J bLACK Phoenix 2007
@@BarksinTheDark I think that's when he tied Dale in wins
It's the 5-hr energy....
what trac is this
California Speedway
@Hendrickfan54 he was a great crew chief, smart guy
i wish this win woulda came at bristol and he did the backwards lap with the flag
nice tribute by Rusty.
Long Live Earnhardt.
#Respect
Jeff couldn't rust that Miller Lite car... know what I'm saying?
Still Paying Tribute To Dale Earnhardt Sr 🏁
@ballyman12 Carry Dales Flag?
I know he did when he tied Dales win record, not sure when he won the Championship in 2001.
Classy move by Rusty and R.I.P. Dale. But isn't it kinda screwed up that Gordon got booed for doing this same thing at Phoenix in 2007?
April 29th 2001 Was Dale's What Would've Been 50th Birthday
Only one more win in the next 4 years before retiring :(
Yep was truly sad. I was born in 97 so I didn't get to see rusty's prime, but he was my favorite driver. The last of an old school generation. @@renniefraser1196 I started following him in '93. Magical year for the #2
Rusty was the best driver for the #2 NOT Keslowski
yeah RUSTY!!!
@Hendrickfan54 That's what I thought. He needs to put that suit back on, not the one he wears now.
Rusty rules.
2001
3:33 look ma, no hands!
Way to go Rubberhead!
is that the 2001 Daytona 500?
No, It was California 2001. I think it was 4-5 races after Dale was killed in the Daytona 500
Mongoose #SubToHub,

Don't you call me dumb!!

I miss Dale
Who's cutting fucking onions.
this race is now the Talladega weekend, it was stupid to move the California race to after the Daytona 500, not fair.
who the fuck disliked this?
Probably Stephen Wallace~
I'm related to him
+AJ Reynolds oh..u think I'm lying?
That's awesome
Did you kiss him
i think rusty does a hell of alot better on tv than dale jarret.
