I am aussie but i think its super important we get a second nz team in b4 we go to perth. Really consolidate and locking in new zealand is massive, The level of talent in 10 years time coming will be incredible with png and a second nz side, plus growing game in fiji, tonga and samoa... Will be enough juniors coming through for 3 comps
I live in Christchurch and have my fingers fairly on the pulse. It’s going to be a tight race between the Kea and the Southern Orca. I’m hoping the Orca gets in.
I'm from the south island and didn't even know what rugby league was till I moved to AUS. There's plenty of talent down there and a 2nd NRL team would explode the game down there. It's untapped and I'll be first in line to pick up the supporter gear 🎉
Good description of the Kea bid. In NZ Union used to smirk and look down on League never thinking we could be any sort of threat but now they are getting very shirty about crowd numbers and things like the Warrior pathways now in place attracting some extremely good young players from their ranks.Rumors are Union shifted their semi final super rugby game so as not to clash with Warriors this weekend obviously worried about TV viewer numbers. Christchurch for the reasons you articulated is the perfect place for a second Kiwi team.Believe me the games against Warriors would become huge battles attracting massive interest in NZ. Apparently Warriors head honchos are not keen on another Kiwi side as they see it as a threat of losing some fans etc but hey get over it for the overall good of the code. No matter what happens exciting times for League in Kiwi land at present.
A second team in NZ will happen but after the PNG team due to the Aus government strengthening security in the region. New Zealand home games work really well with tv scheduling, especially Friday early game, Saturday early game and Sunday early game. Expansion is dependent on the broadcasters who pay the money.
Hope the Kea gets into NRL, Warriors don't like it cause they don't want competition in NZ for sponsors and media attention. There is no way Kea would effect Warriors crowds as they are 1000km apart on on different Islands. I'm so over the Warriors most of there History, Organisation, Recruitment, Administration sucks!!! NZ also needs a National Competition again been 15 years since Barter Card cup was scraped.
Before making the nrl a national game in Australia I don’t think so I would rather see a team in Perth Adelaide Hobart Darwin before another nz team What pathways for players in those areas are there at least you got one
webby said it best. we don’t need another team and let’s focus on the one we have now. the warriors have only just started to become contenders with a solid squad haha all of a sudden everyone watches league now
Fair enough don’t blame him but definitely do think the opportunity of adding another New Zealand team would add rivalry and encouraging more talent to join rugby league
because imo the NRL should only be Australian based, and it really hasn't expanded National if we are being honest expanded within the borders before out Expansion Teams we need Cairns (Northern Pride) Ipswich Jets or Brisbane Tigers Sunshine Coast Falcons Perth Reds Adelaide Rams Central Coast Team Victorian Team Tasmanian Team North Territory Team 2 Conferences with 40 Teams (20 in each that changes yearly) or Promotion and Relegation with 14 in each divisions.
Thanks but no thanks . I would love to see the warriors attempt to become a more consistently successful venture first . Their tenure since its inception in 1995 has been for the most part rather underwhelming.

Would be good if either one gets in

Definitely agree it will give healthy competition with the Warriors, overall having another New Zealand team would be fantastic
That'd be the game to watch; an NZ derby. The NRL definitely needs a second team from NZ.

Hopefully it works out, read today that the PNG idea might be off the cards but we should know more soon
100 behind the Kea
Would be a great move if it happened
i reackon bring back the north Sydney bears

This fella looks like Critta, Liam Martin and Angus Crichton had a baby
I’ll take it but 😂💀
@@proenzovidz all love my uso!
Bruh, you let your intrusive thoughts win.
Agreed bro.
South NZL Bears?
If the NRL do want to have the bears name if they returned it’s a fair chance
@@proenzovidz I’m an old bears fan, I’d love them in south kiwiland
(So many bears in nz and austalia) not bad idea honestly
one thing better than another NZ team would be a NZ-Pacific Comp
10 Teams could be enough.
because imo the NRL should only be Australian based, and it really hasn't expanded National if we are being honest expanded within the borders before out
Expansion Teams we need
Cairns (Northern Pride)
Ipswich Jets or Brisbane Tigers
Sunshine Coast Falcons
Perth Reds
Adelaide Rams
Central Coast Team
Victorian Team
Tasmanian Team
North Territory Team
2 Conferences with 40 Teams (20 in each that changes yearly) or Promotion and Relegation with 14 in each divisions.
Interesting don’t mind this suggestion at all

Webster against you in NRL. What a shame😮
