Mack needs to come in over the off season and install some LSM's in the valley between the non inverting immelman and the outerbank. Have them there to 1 ensure the correct speed and 2 to perform a multi pass swing launch to recover trains. They should't need to modify the trains much as the LSM's and brake fins use the same fins on the train to brake and accelerate
Mack uses two stators for their LSMs, so yes, they are different to their brake fins, the trains would need completely new undersides, the ride would need completely new programming and also new track sections to accommodate for the stator coolers.
@@Sonderax LSMs would take so much pressure of Thorpe as the coaster could be recovered more quickly after rolling back. The chance of it valleying would be lower anyway as, like you’ve already said, they could set it to ensure trains have the needed speed to make it through the element.
@@asterisks3062 Those are a lot of changes! The modifications would certainly be costly. It will be interesting to see what Merlin and Mack decide to do.
@ThrillsandForces seeing as it's happened twice below the maximum wind speeds, I'd say this is on Mack to fix, not Merlin. It's costly sure, but merlin, imo carry no blame or cost to this.
@@ThrillsandForces Definitely, they're finally starting to use it to bring back new fan favourites. If they keep it up then it could stick around for a few years longer as it's one they can easily keep changing!
Went last month, it's like a 500 mile round trip for me and I would have been gutted if I didn't get to do Hyperia. Hopefully they cab come up with a solution soonish. I heard they had the train half loaded with dummies idk why they didn't fully load it since it's already stalled there before. I wonder if it was the same train that valleyed.
That would have been gutting! Lucky you managed to get on it with how unreliable it is. They will probably do more fully loaded test dummy trains from now on, especially as we move into the colder months! It would be interesting to know if it was the same train to the one that valleyed last time.
Wonder how many times they ran full dummy test runs before reducing dummies then running empty. Wonder what the wind gusts were, direction of wind gust and temperature. Did the valley happen after or before they found all the wear on the chain guide? Has the chain guide wearing caused a very slight drop of speed as it goes over the top? If thw rumours of mack using a guide design from a different coaster which didnt have such an extreme angled drop from the top, could that be a factor? Everyone saying mack need to take the the blame but no one has a clue on what the reccomended procedures are and what the condotoons were on the days it valleyed if you have a ride with many carefully designed unique elements, a risk it wont make it over is always much higher than without them. Everyone dreams of the roll back on stealth but not on this... price you pay.
These are all very good questions! I would love to know the main factor that causes these rollbacks and how they can be prevented without modifications. You’re right when saying that a rollback on Stealth is a bucket list for many enthusiasts, whereas a rollback on Hyperia is not! Stealth can much more quickly be recovered.
Simply have an faster system to add a load of ballast, than the twenty separate dummies. Quickly loaded test trains should mean higher speeds through that section.
It does seem like a bit of a design flaw as tall coasters are so susceptible to wind. That being said, when the train makes it through the element, it’s a great moment of airtime and hang-time!
Correct me if I’m wrong, though I believe the trim at the top of the immelmann is currently deactivated. I think it was installed as a precaution during testing, but they have never needed to properly install it.
@@airtimeaddict LSMs would be great (especially if they did a swing launch for valleyed trains) though they would have to modify the coaster and trains a lot!

As well as the Valleying, they could also add a front seat queue system...
I would love them to add a front row queue as I still haven't had a front row ride!

That’s a good shout! A quicker system would also allow the coaster to be more quickly offloaded for opening in the mornings.
I did always feel like outer bank wasn’t taken with enough speed, I’m not sure why they made it so high.

What’s valleying?
It’s when a train doesn’t make it through a certain section of the ride and rolls back. Hope this helps!
What does 'valleyed' mean?
Rolled backwards
To add: it means that it rolled backwards between 2 hills so is stuck in a valley
@@andrewjambo1 👆These guys have summed it up perfectly!

I agree! A rollback on Hyperia would be cool if you could just get off straight away, but I can imagine that wouldn’t be the case. 😂
