Thanks! Im thru about 40 something episodes so once I get all the way thru and do a reread I’ll be primed to go. Just gotta go into the last 10% of book 2 on top of my game as far as having everything at the front of my mine. So we’re getting closer.
Great analysis. Personally, my guess is that Encanis is the true evil force in this story. And I think he is the Cteah. With Iax being more of a tragic victim of the Cteah in the same vain as Kvote. The story of Menda chaining Encanis (the most evil of all demons) to the great iron wheel, I think is analogues to Encanis being bound to a tree in the Fea. but I think they likely could not destroy him (keep him behind the door of death) so binding him to the tree makes more sense. The archery of the Sith / and the link with archery to the Adem is also interesting here. It would mean thet Menda likely founded the sith and they are likely the starting point for the Adem also, as they were first very focussed on archery. Perhaps the Sith were Menda's faction in the Fea, and the Adem where his faction in the mortal realm. In order to chase and kill those who had spoken to Cteah and had fled into the mortal world. They would want to kill those people from a distance with arrows the same as they do in Fea.
For the rhyme about lady lackless to be about lanray and lira it would need to be waaaaay older and if it is then kvothes mother wpuld have heard it before and wouldnt have assumed it was about the current or previous lady lackless. Unless kvothe didnt hear the song from other kids perhaps it was sent to him on the wind by the singers and thats why the chandrian are vexxed by the singers because their songs magically reappear preventing them from being forgotten
It wouldn’t need to be way older. Similar to how Denna’s patron is having her create her song for some purpose it could be that the Lackless poems were created for some purpose in recent history, too. Also the poem clearly has double or triple meanings, so one layer could be about her, or just her recent ancestors, while the deeper layers are about Lanre and Lyra. It’s just a matter of who created it and why. Because it could also be a poem that has been repurposed. For example, it could be that the Amyr or Chandrian want the hidden info in those poems to stay alive for some purpose. Maybe for a Kvothe to come along. So they keep putting out variations of these poems that seemingly relate to a current generation while seeding it pertinent info underneath. Like I could see a scenario where Kvothe discovers ancient Lackless poems that have the same encoded message but through entirely different verses or whatever, but he’s able to puzzle out because he’s like “Why are there so many children’s poems about the Lackless family throughout the ages?” And then he recognizes what they all have in common. Not saying that’s how it will go, but I think that illustrates how it could go and how a new poem that seems to be about Natalia is still actually about Lanre and Lyra.
@@kingkillerpodcast yeah i really like that explanation of it it would tie into what he told simmon, savvoy and manet during their first meeting as a group where he discussed narratives which are shared between cultures coming from an original shared story similar to how every culture in our world has a flood myth
maybe the doors of stone refers to waystones. all of them are like gateways that are off, but kvothe does something, maybe like opening the box from meluan. and basically all of the gates become open to the fae again. now all these creatures from the fae are flooding into the mortal realm. maybe the lackless door is a specific waystone gate.
That’s basically my theory but with one less step. I think the Lackless door leads to Faeriniel which is a waystation type of place that leads to all other waystones. And within Faeriniel is the doors of stone, which I believe is the circle of greystones, and he unleashes the flood there. Which would fit with what you say as releases the flood inside Faeriniel would be a place that has exits all throughout the world.
@@kingkillerpodcast Yeah I def think Faeriniel is the same thing. Perhaps the Lackless door is in the mountains and 4 plate door in the archives but have been locked from this side. They mention somewhere that the gateways can be locked. But now I wonder whether each gate is a portal to another location within an existing realm (likely the fae), or if there are multiple different realms. The shapers created many beautiful things and the hermit seemed to be pretty knowledgeable about what the folding house was. So are these all gates to the same place in different locations or are there tons of different realms. I can't think of how to put it but like Faeriniel may be a hub. like wreck it ralph lol. One general area that is connecting lots of different places. Someone may have created some kind of prison realm to hold Iax. I also think theres something to be said about Kvothe already shaping songs, shaping stories, and now can shape his cloak
Yeah I think it likely that behind the Four Plate Door is Faeriniel. It’d make sense for the university to sprout out of a place that has a portal to a location that leads to everywhere. It’d be a place where powerful people would want to set up shop at. So I think it will be what’s behind that door, as well as I believe it’s almost certainly where King Feyda is at.
Wish I had found this podcast a year ago
You’ll have it on tap for your next reread now.

Always an interesting topic.
Yeah a lot of theories spin out of this one.
